Inside Xbox: May 7th, 8:00 PST

Disappointed by the show. Very little gameplay and what was shown did not impress me, and that's considering I wasn't expecting much.

Man. Color me baffled how Alot of gamers can't see how crazy these games look. I'm still trippin on some of it. We bout to see some mind blowing s***! The games yesterday were ridiculous! The density and level of detail is way beyond what we have now.
yes it looks great but the stream was in low 30 fps at the event

Where did you actually see these things? like specifically which games and which spots?

Bright Memory only had 1 enemy on screen at a time, the weather effects were all current gen it was just shiny and clean, it's a nice looking game but it doesn't have density and level of detail way beyond what we have now, maybe a little better detail but not way beyond.

Medium BARELY showed more than a few seconds of gameplay and it was all in small spaces with a girl walking very slowly by herself

The racing game wasn't gameplay it was "in engine"

Chorus in a lot of ways looked very current gen just in 4K, at least the space battles did.

The Ascent looks good and probably comes closest to what your describing IMO but it's a top down shooter so it's going to be easier to make it look good because of the limited view.

Gameplay = game play, a game being played by someone. They did show that with Chorus blended with cutscenes.
AC Valhalla wasn't gameplay, it was in engine cutscenes and, at best, actual in engine snippets of animation that they orchestrated and used camera angles for dramatic effect.
There was gameplay snippets of other games though, chorus for example as said earlier.
This inside xbox was underwhelming as f*** in regards of getting people hyped about xsx graphical capabilities. Nothing looked better than what one x and ps4 pro has today imo.

I totally agree, as do many others.

60FPS is the new "4K." Remember the hype over 4K? Well, it came at a price of FPS or other visual effects.

60FPS is technically achievable for most games, but you'd have to lower the resolution and/or visual effects, even on nice hardware. Hell, I don't think the vast majority of PC gamers can hit 60FPS in Red Dead 2 at 4K Ultra.

Most of these games were the games they have in between the big ones at E3. A few of them would have been in their 30 second sizzle real for indie games. I’m guessing because they had contracts and marketing deals they had to do some kind of event to at least get these showcased and fill the obligation. Also with the way things have changed due to Covid most studios have chosen to just do their own event instead of showing up to MS and I am going to assume Sony’s event.

It was a whatever event with a few very noteworthy games. The Medium is my standout and it looks like a next gen game.

If MS doesn’t deliver in July then we have a serious problem on our hands though because the time to deliver is now.

No effort needed MS fked up and know they did.
At least they acknowledged it as I don't see them messing up July now.

All I see is MS made some game announcements and a couple of them I'm real interested in(Scorn and Medium). So it's a win there. I don't think they f***ed up as bad as some are making it out.

Seriously. I've been dying for footage and when they start showing stuff, the internet turns into whinny babies (not surprisingly). Why would anyone want to show anything with reactions like this? There is some really harsh stuff out there that is not deserved.

I wanted a glimpse into what's coming. It could have been more in depth, but it's much better than the jack s*** we've been getting. They already said these are 3td party and indy titles before the showing. First party is in July.

Then you get fools talking about TLOU 2 as if those arent the most talented devs with large teams. New gen ain't gonna make you a better artist, but they do provide better tools.

Pretty much, they streamed a show to a bunch of bored, agitated, quarantined gamers just looking for anything for the next controversy, and admittedly MS made it a bit easy by not been clear in their messaging , but yea definitely not as bad as what it's made out to be. I just think people wanted to be blown away with a AAA gameplay trailer. Even though they never said they were going to do so (except for the AC thing that could of been handled better).

No they didn’t. The official press release for the event and many tweets about the length of the event is exactly how the event unfolded.

They acknowledged that they should have explained it better, but they didn’t lie or f*** up. The console war people are thirsty so they are looking for whatever reason to complain.

We know what Inside Xbox’s are. Many on here literally complain about how they suck. We were told how short it was going to be. We were told that it would be gameplay, first looks, and trailers. And to top it all off it had to have zero production done because of covid

But yeah the messaging was so bad 🙄

I wonder if they hold an ID@Xbox event separately or be part of the July event.

Let’s not forget they still have things to show for other events like summerfest and gamescon

Damage was done period.
Addressing it and moving on is great.
July will be telling...I just am waiting to order.
I agree damage was done, and most of it was from being tone deaf. While I was just fine with it, the internet is brutal, and they need to show the A game first. I'm just glad to see something that's not prerendered

Most of this "damage" will be forgotten once they show games that actually blow people away and I'm sure they'll have some that do that.If Sony is smart they'll learn from this and not rely on mostly small 3rd party teams to give us our first impression of what their console is capable of.

I'm sure the XSX is capable of far more than what was shown the other day, it just seems like an odd choice to put your worst foot forward, as many have said you only get one chance to make a first impression and after doing a good job with their messaging MS stumbled a bit when it came to showing what their console could actually do.

Nearly every game having that message on screen saying that they basically weren't running on XSX didn't help either. I have no problem with that, I know before a launch we always see games running on console approximated PC's that are presented as console footage, at least they were honest about it. The problem again is we were told ahead of the show it was going to be XSX gameplay and then nearly every game had a message basically saying it wasn't, most people don't get why that's the case.

Mostly agree. I think their messaging was wrong. Everyone was hyped to see ‘next-gen gameplay.’ Bad choice of games for that!

After watching all the trailers a few times, I’m more excited about some of them. But the show itself was too much hype and too misleading. All eyes on Sony now, but I also think this will push the MS July show to really be a showcase of what they have lines up.
