Inside Xbox: May 7th, 8:00 PST

I don't think we're will ever see 4k 120, lol. Not without it looking like a ps2 game. Maybe we will see some crazy Machine Learning sfuff

Plus I doubt many consumers that they are aiming for have the equipment to fully enjoy 4k 120 anyway.

I think most console gamers would be thrilled with 4K/60 or even Faux K/60 if it means games built from the ground up with higher end models, textures etc.

I don't know why he would purposefully want to upset gamers, but I'm not buying that at all because it defies logic. I'm sticking with incompetent on messaging. Phil seems too genuine to me to be the purposefully deceptive type, anyway. Like I said, it would actually defy logic to do so... But you can keep all your spite. If he were a different person in interviews, I might understand.

Phil is being a salesman, he's trying to hype his product, this is the first new generation to start under his watch and he doesn't want to pull a Mattrick. He is trying something different and saying they are being more transparent and I give him credit for that but he's got to stop just saying things and actually start backing up his words with actions.

They had to know full well what people were expecting vs what they actually had available to show and it seems it was more important to them to be first to show something rather than do it the right way.

If this were an E3 event almost all of those games would have been filler, if it were E3 this is also how the games would have been presented, this has been MS's conference style for the past couple of years, just a bunch of 2-3 minute quick cut chaos trailers with cinematics and scripted events with a tiny bit of gameplay mixed in here and there.

I think Microsoft did this show as a buffer until after Sony shows their hand at first party games.. That's supposed to be June. Xbox E3 is in July.

That doesn't make much sense, they purposely blow their first impression because they want to wait and see how their first party stacks up compared to Sony? that's a bad bet to begin with and what they showed the other day is just going to make Sony 1st party stuff look even better by comparison than it already would have.

They really shouldn't have done this show, they rushed to be first and it was a bad gamble, it's not the end of the world and it'll all be forgotten once people start seeing some real AAA next gen games but this just can't be the first impression they wanted to give people.

This event was just a simple showcase for something they most likely already had agreements with prior to the cancellation of e3. Phil our Major were already mentioning e3 preparation as early as January

Think boi! They didn't know the show would be viewed as harshly as it did.

One of my biggest pet peeves are people who have no idea what its like behind creative endeavors like movies and video games. You can put the best names in the business on a product and it can still fail just as much as it can succeed. But you don't know that until customers have it in their hands. Not for nothing Jinca, but you can say some silly s*** at times.

I still stand by what I said.

And there's no guarantee that people will embrace what Sony shows either. With all this silence, they build hype for their next showing. But can the content they show meet the hype? That's the question.

I said the same thing before Sony had their GDC lecture. They had no idea if people would embrace that ridiculously stale lecture, and still, Sony fans thought sure the hardware reveal would be banger. It wasn't. Not even close. Sony fans ran to the rescue with unprecedented damage control to try and save Cerny and the PS5 less than stellar specs. They still are...

There's no guarantees.

No it doesn't.

That and some of us actually like games and want to see what is coming without being so self-absorbed to try dictating what that looks like.
So wanting to see actual gameplay now means you don't like games and aare self absorbed? That is f***ing hilarious. The lengths fanboys will go to.

Then they are morons. We live in a connected world where their consumer base is constantly giving feedback on everything. We are not talking about creativr risks here. We are talking what peopl want to see vs what they are given, and the deceptive message voiced inbetween.

For all the fanboy damage control being done, the fanboys know that they would have preffered actual gameplay and more impressive games.

Who are you exactly? Thank you for illustrating my point for us once again.

They should have just shown their own games first.

Maybe 2 months makes a huge difference in what they could have shown? But they should have given a teaser or something at the end.

I am not sure if you are being serious here. It would be much easier and quicker for us to list things that Phil hasn’t accomplished from his promises versus what promises were made. In fact I would have to say you are being completely disingenuous and biased to believe he hasn’t started backing up his words after he took over Xbox.

You seem to be treading a fine line here and we can see what you are doing. You throw out some quick little positive comment followed by your normal anti MS diatribe in the remaining paragraph so that you try to come off as “concerned” and unbiased.

Dude, you bleed blue, it’s ok.

As I said, the lengths fanboys will go to. You have no point.

I'm a consumer. You know, the person they are tryinhg to sell this stuff to. But according to you, actually wanting to see what they are trying to sell means I don't like games and i'm self absorbed. Hilarious.

They didn't need to. They just had to back up what they hyped it to be, or just managed expectations.

I had very little interest in this "show" initially. I thouught it would be CGI trailers and teasers, but then people like Spencer start giving it the gameplay hype. Then ACV is supposed to have gameplay. Then interest and expectations rise.

Also, if a generic looking indie game turns out to be the best thing shown then you've done it wrong.

They're going to go after Sony's showing, right? It's not that terrible of a decision. Especially if fans get joydrunk and mouthy after Sony's offering. XGS can then destroy people's expectations in July. It's just very annoying for us to have to wait.

You just keep illustrating further all while not understanding that you do so. Per usual, it’s over your head, or hopefully for your sake, it’s just you being deliberately obtuse and arguing for the sake of arguing.

That’s true. But I just think it would have better to show their own games first. That was my opinion before the event and my opinion now.

So, no. Gotcha.
So let me guess, that means i can't crticize or voice an opinion on anything gaming related ever? Even when the crticism or opnion has nothing to do with actual game development.

I hope that isn't your pointt. That would be as dumb as Zcyth's point about not liking games and being self absorbed cause we want to see the actual game.

I agree. But if they are not ready and they show them, then Phil will get crucified. Phil has built up 15 teams and has said numerous times that the games won't be made overnight. If they are made overnight, they will lack content and polish and gamers will rage. If they take their time and spend 5 years making one game to make sure it meets our standards and has content, gamers will rage because Phil bought 15 teams and waited 5 years to give us the games we demanded.

The only games we are getting from the new studios right now are the ones that were already in development before MS aquired them.

I get it..if people don't like Xbox, don't like MS, don't like their games, don't like Phil....maybe move the f*** on? MS isn't forcing you to buy their product, and clearly they will never please the naysayers, EVER. Just like Inside Xbox. Nobody ever liked it, and nobody ever will like it, apparently. Didn't like the last 5 E3s? You won't like the next 5 either. Don't like Forza, Halo or Gears? Time for you to pack up. It's not changing. Want VR on your Xbox, too f***in' bad. It's not happening. MS moved on from TV TV TV to GAMES GAMES GAMES, but those GAMES GAMES GAMES don't meet your satisfaction? BYYYYYYEEEEE. You want Japanese games beyond what Phil has been giving us, including Day One Yakuza on Series X? Cya! Don't like non gameplay footage shown as gameplay footage? Sony and MS have been doing that for years. Don't like it? Sucks to be you.

It was obviously a bad show but its not like it matters much with Microsoft having all their big guns still to go. Don't know why so many are doing damage control.

I disagree. They are in a way better position to impress people that normally might not be impressed.

Wanting to see games and gameplay is completely fine. Calling the creators morons and deceptive and generally implying motive contrary to their own best interests, even after they’ve taken the feedback on the chin and apologized about messaging is self-aborbed. It leads not only to tunnel vision, but a distorted perspective.

Little tolerance for the possibility that others may have enjoyed what they saw and look forward for more to come is also self-absorbed. This further evidenced by those who prolifically use the term fanboy when an opinion is expressed outside their tunnel vision, further contributing to an elitist sense of self-absorption.

It is a connected world these days, but it doesn’t excuse entitlement and discourtesy because something doesn’t follow your expectations. It is probably lost on those who struggle with it, but it is much more enjoyable and less spiteful to just relax and have fun with it, even if there are some missteps.

I hope you are young and just don’t remember what it was like to wait on magazines for all your scraps of information. Man I couldn’t gobble up those things fast enough. Gratitude and a sense of childlike awe are so much more fulfilling. I see posts from some people and they are so self-absorbed and jaded. I think to myself that I hope I never get that way.

I don't think it matters what games MS releases. The big rumor right now is that The Initiative, which is a studio filled with unlimited AAA experience, is making Perfect Dark. That rumor hasn't been met with any sort of excitement from the usual crowd. This is THE Santa Monica Studio that should be the very first to impress out the door.
