Breathtaking. At the heart of it all...I feel like this is an experience of learning to fly and learning to appreciate our world and all its beauty.

Amazing, there are SO many places I want to see/visit. You guys are killing me I can't get outta the office until 4PM today.....

So I only had a quick hour on lunch to play around and get everything set up... and I am floored. Words just don't describe it. My system is almost exactly 3 years old, and it recommended the high setting, which is just one below max. I don't know what the FPS is but it feels very solid.

Living in a small town like Buffalo, past sims never had much but a smattering of the major roads and maybe a few random buildings thrown in. Now, I am easily picking out landmarks and even my house not far from the airport. There's some odd things with the conversion from 2D to 3D, like our hockey arena is mostly flat, but it even has the label on top. For example buildings may have the totally wrong number of stories so downtown just looks off. Still though, that's nitpicking for sure. It looks and runs amazing.

I honestly had to shut things down for now as there's no way I'd get work done. I'm still fumbling with the views and controls. ATC is also really mad at me for taking off the wrong runway. "But my house is this way...".

It has surpassed them. I was flying over my city and I could see dawn approaching over the horizon. I literally said...wow. Keep in mind this was REAL TIME. So the sim could see dawn approaching before I could.

I have real air traffic on as well. I've seen 2 or 3 planes far up in the sky, higher than I went which I'm guessing judging from the setting were actual live planes flying to wherever they were going.

Pics don't do it justice. It looks unbelievable. I've said wow almost a dozen times. Flying through the clouds is scary and thrilling. Scary because your wings ice up and you lose airspeed due to the extra weight and drag, and thrilling because it looks photo realistic.

This is a must play IMO. Even if you don't know a thing about flying. The flying tutorial will get you up to speed. I also plugged in my Xbox One controller just to see how it is mapped, and I must say that if you get it on the Series X you will be pleased with the controls.
Assuming they will add HOTAS support to Xbox, I will probably get that for the game. Maybe I'll just build a PC so I can use a VR headset... I don't know.

Been watching a bunch of vids on this man. Like, the next Forza is going to use this tech right?

Well this kinda stinks. It doesn't look like this game can be shared between 2 accounts like all other Windows Store titles. Installed the game on my girlfriends PC and it's asking me to insert disk. The Digital Ownership file IS installed. I uninstalled and reinstalled it and it's still asking her PC for a disk.

possible bummer.

I didn't know that windows store games could be shared. They really need to bring family sharing to gamepass on the PC side and the windows store.

You can do it, like I said I share every other single windows store game (that includes gamepass games) with her machine.

Wouldn't that require an always online connection? That so many people were against, I'd love tech like this in games going forward it's amazing.

Having big issues getting the game installed on my machine and also my girls. The installer keeps crashing and have to keep restarting it. I am done with this for the night I think

I had to restart the installer like 10 times. 10th time I completely closed out Steam. Restarted it and it went through.

It installed smoothly for me (I started it while we were eating and watched TV for a couple of hours). Did tutorial one, but I'll want to redo it with the controller to see if I like that better.

Be sure to check out NYC at dusk and night. It is amazing.

Is anyone else having all sorts of problems with keyboard mappings? Some things just don't work, like toggles. I mapped "P" to be the pause/unpause toggle but it doesn't work, so I had to map "P" as pause, and "[" as un-pause. You'd think you could just have "P" as a toggle. There's also two different kinds of pause. One sort of freezes your plane in place, but you can still move the controls and more importantly the throttle. I was "paused" and somehow got my airspeed to zero, so once I un-paused, my plane fell from the sky.

I'm still fumbling with the cameras and that drone mode. I still can't find how to control it. All the Youtubers say to plug in an Xbox controller and use that for just your camera drone so I have to try that. I was expecting there to be mouse control or something simple.

Also there's a way to map time acceleration so you can speed up those long flights, but there's no way to tell what number you are on. I was flying along on autopilot at like 2x or 4x but then went back down and couldn't find 1x. In a little Cessna it was actually hard to tell what normal time was (was flying over water). Ended up having to quit out.

I'm also really tempted to plunk down the $120 for the super duper version, although there's plenty to do in the base game (got it "free" off game pass). Really want to try that SR22 though. I don't really care about any of the jetliners. Taking this sim above 10,000 feet would be a crime against humanity it looks so good. 😉
