Latest Motley Fool article on console sales data from NPD stated that the numbers in NA are approximately 2.9 million PS4 vs 2.5 million X1. Much smaller difference than all the news keeps painting. So the bigger difference is the other markets, and for anyone to say that the extra 75 markets PS4 is in versus 12 of the X1 does not make any difference just shows stupidity.

The thing is to see how month to month and year to year sales look by holiday season 2015, after a year of MS in an additional 26 markets.

The other markets are where Sony usually sells more... except for the UK where the 360 sold more there. The US accounts for ~50-60% of Xbox sales.

And one of these had been sold out in those places while the others weren't. Like i said, what would have happened if supply was in the US and other countries last year? Do you think the x1 would have actually sold more or less, and how many more units do you feel would have sold in more countries if X1 were in them? I think people are trying to "paint" the picture for x1 in a better light when it isn't there.... it should just be stopped. We have hard data now, biased xbox fans didn't like to hear but if ps3 was cheaper and there is no reason to keep on the "if x1 was in more countries riff" it's getting rather old now and the sales are what they are. I do like to speculate as well, so I can understand it, but the guys with the country excuse aren't really posting launch 360 numbers in those countries to back anything up. We have nothing to go by other than "yeah, if x1 was in another 50 countries"

If we want to speculate, let's do it a little better other than "lol, if the x1 was in another 50 countries"

At best, it would only add 400k to X1's totals right now imo

I don't know what some of you are expecting, if the system is a high price system with no games. What do you expect those people to do with it? Europe is a Gran Turismo area for the most part. Forza was a rushed game with less content than it's first. A lot of countries may not even be able to play TF online, such as what happened with AU, how many more but's would be added?

If MS is having trouble pushing out their system with the most hyped game of the generation so far, why do you guys think it's going to be an easy sell in those places?

As I also already said, some of those countries DO have X1's and it has been reported they aren't selling, not out of stock. If there was a big mad rush for them people would go to where they are and buy them up.

And what percentage of sales % of sales do those extra markets represent? 5? 10%?. It can't be a large amount or else Microsoft would have already launched there.

Here's a graph showing the sales trend so far:

Even Phil recognizes the importance of this E3. If they want to make a change, it needs to be now as in these few months.

Jackie saying the Xbox One doesn't have any games is just as dumb as saying PS4 doesn't.

Just because they don't appeal to you doesn't mean they don't exist.

Sure, my phone has games too. Just yesterday, you were playing games with my heart.

You said the system is high priced with no games. Like why would anyone expect it to sell very well.

I don't totally disagree. (especially on price) But the games it does have has helped it sell as much as it has. In other words it has games that some of us want.

No games I like or atleast must have the system for (could care less about forza, tf) and I beleive DR 3 could come to PS4 or atleast the next DR game similar to it, if you like whatever you bought the system for. That's fine. I'd rather wait till it's 300 dollars with a few games I really want to play. I would like to try Dragon and the Golf game. Those would probably be my two top picks from the system actually. I hope you bought the system for one of those beats.

And, i meant no games that people really want. Halo or something would change that. Of course, you can take anything out of context, I'm sure some people want them, but it isn't really the Halo or Gears (first one) of the time.

I agree. But it's a double edged sword for Microsoft. More Halo and Gears is awesome to me. But others might be looking for the next big thing.

I'm ok with halo, Gears only had one good game for me. Cautious about Halo with 343 though.

Halo, really ? it is a game that sells to such a small portion of the overall user-bases. You keep saying gears of war which was a 5-6 million seller, but Forza is a 4-5 million seller. Titanfall has a million in NA alone, and with a smaller install base did better than Infamous, which is the PS4's best game thus far.

... Halo sells much more than Forza or Gears, I don't think many people are really looking forward to the next Gears, God of War etc atleast it seems so. How much did the last Gears sell. With a new developer I guess there is a lot more hope for Gears atleast.

Forza isn't going to hit that mark and the last Gears of war total is what? Not sure why your saying these numbers. I can't imagine the last games sold that well. I know the last Gears isn't "Gears 4" but it's still a Gears game that is made to be a big title. Doesn't really matter if it's Gears 4 or whatever. Infamous should have been a different game from Sucker Punch imo

I don't want god of war 4 with kratos and the same design atleast

I don't want Infamous Second Son 2

I don't want KZ SF 2

I don't want Gears 4

I don't want the same Gran Turismo.

I don't want Halo 5 to be like 4

Also don't want Uncharted whatever etc I'd rather have different gameplay designs, TLOU is still the same basic design as Uncharted. I'd rather they make something with artistic merrit instead of just "realism"

Gears of War 3 sold more than 3 million copies during its first week—higher than the previous two Gears entries. Who is buying this? hehe. I gave it back to my friend quickly after finishing it, you know I buy a lot of games but.... sheesh it wasn't good.

The Gears of War franchise as of September 27, 2011, has grossed over $1 billion

According to Cowen and Company the first-month sales of Gears of War: Judgment were very poor compared to Gears of War 3 selling about 425,000 units, around a fifth of the two million Gears of War 3 managed in September 2011.[37] In August 2013 it was revealed that Gears of War: Judgment sold just over 1 million copies

I'd consider people not caring about Judgement after how bland 2 and 3 were. for me atleast.

I do think the next GOW's for ps4/x1 will sell better than their last games though... just hope they arent the same crap.

I am looking forward to the next gears & Halo, Fable & Forza. I not for tehse games, I would have picked a PS4 to be honest.

Despite being 'negative' (which is saying wait & see) when it comes to cloud cumputing & DX12, I do hope X1 can reach a level of performance not to see the disparity we having now.

Going by the sales of Judgement is poor. It wasn't the Gears Of War many had come to love. I am a huge gears fan, the people I play it with are huge gears fans, and none us played Judgement for very long. Everything about it had been changed from what made Gears 3 so awesome. You say Gears 3 wasn't good, but I can only assume you played the series for the SP, most play it for the multiplayer.

Forza 5, sold over 1 million before it started to get packaged. It is also the fastest selling of the franchise, so the Forza love is still here. Obviously a bit hard to judge based on sold numbers since it is packaged now.

You say Halo sells much more than Gears, which is true, but gears 3 sold 6 million, halo 4 sold 8 million, the days of Halo 2 12 million are long gone, but it is still a small portion of the overall user-base. Also, I believe the Halo total sales are dropping iteration to iteration, with Halo 3 still being the biggest selling on the 360.

halo 3 sold very well, halo 4 mp was horrible and sp was different as well so it isn't a good judgement for the series. I really don't like the style of Gears mp, so I did play it for the sp.

Sony getting wrecked in the UK

That's why I asked him for clarification. He says lifetime. But who knows?

I guess some think that.

Yeah, this is the first time someone mention "lifetime" here, but quite often, there's been posters that would drop a little "yeah, PS4 is winning because Sony shipped to more countries" bomb, as is if selling in more countries alone can make the difference.

come on now....you know very well that the insinuation is there that PS4 is doing better "because" it released in more markets. What we're saying is, even if XB1 released in these markets, chances are, the extra sales would be minimal, certainly not enough to close the gap by much.....meaning, the difference would still be pretty large.
I posted earlier, Europe (doesn't include UK), Middle East and Asia account for more than 20% of the Xbox 360 sales. It wouldn't close the gap completely but I don't think it would be "minimal," as in, 50,000 consoles sold. I figure it would be a couple hundred thousand sold is easily within reach. BUT, since they would be launching in these markets after the PS4, that may or may not have an effect on it's sales had they gone head to head.

I too agree it would be a few hundred thousand....but they'd need, what.....close to 2 million if not more to beat out PS4?

The problem is, some are insinuating that the X1 will NEVER make up, close the gap or surpass the PS4 in sales over the lifetime of the two consoles.

Right now 10% would add about 450,000 consoles going by history. That's half of what the 360 percentage of sales in that region is. So, 450,000 is figuring conservatively. So it could, conservatively, cut the PS4's lead by 25% or so. That's not minimal. Minimal would be in the 5% range. This is all, of course, guesstimations.

Sure, it would close the gap some, but again, not nearly enough to be even in sales or surpass it.

I've yet to read someone predict that far out what will happen. I could be wrong, but that's not something I read.
