So far in 2021, the XSS is selling more than the Series X at Amazon:

and sold out at Target:

and sold out at Walmart:

and sold out at Gamestop:

and sold out at Amazon:

Amazon product

Unless you want to pay the mark up from the third parties that are also bundling.

Yawn...plus more yawn....

Sold out besides bundles...

So no counter to fact that I can buy a xss right now but not a XSX/PS5.

Every single time I check my nearest Walmart I see XSS in the cases. No matter which day of the week it is, they have them. I'd buy one if it had a disk drive. I'm not buying all digital games with high prices, nor will I subscribe to GP after my sub is up in October just to use a XSS. I saw a XSX one time, but never a PS5.

They've had them on the shelves since early May around here. The majority of places around here has terrible internet, so a digital only console is pretty useless anyway.

Makes sense. Probably another reason why Sony has been producing and pushing the disc version more too.

I remember when I pre-ordered my PS5, the chick said "the disc version I'm assuming?" She reckoned no one really wanted the digital but would get it as a last resort if there were no disc versions.

I'm just jealous of the black paint job it got to be fair.

For me, digital only is the last option I would want because buying and selling disc copies are my thing and how I usually like to cycle through my games cost efficiently. I usually only play through games once and I don't go back if there is no new content so having the ability to recuperate my costs are really important to me.

So a game pass on PS would benefit you for first party games if they had such a thing.

Yes and no, for a set annual subscription fee, it would be cheaper than buying them separately per year but then I would have no way of recuperating the cost either. Also EBGames (recently officially changed name to GameStop) has some nice trade in promos throughout the year that would benefit me too if I had the physical copies. For example, I was able to buy Yakuza Like A Dragon for $34.99 CAD on a sale and with the trade in promo I was able to fully recuperate my cost and more to put the credit towards a new preorder. Basically I was able to play Yakuza Like A Dragon and get more money back for what I paid for it. With a subscription model, I don't have the option to take advantage of these types of deals.

f*** that’s too much work. I just buy the game, play it and delete it. Like people trying to get Microsoft Rewards for doing Bing searches and getting certain achievements, etc. F That.

I'm just a very frugal person in general so there's that lol.

Half the fun is finding these deals that can maximize my money, at least for me 🤣

I totally get it. I should be more frugal. My wife says I should spend more time in record stores or eBay buying my vinyls used and looking around for deals. I’m like “Buy Now” Amazon, thank you and have a nice day!

PS5 dominates. NFL 22 80-81% PS/19-20% Xbox split.

PlayStation 5 exclusives dominated the UK boxed charts this week, taking the first, second and third spot.

The best selling-game of the week was Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut. The updated and upgraded version of last year's hit action game also saw a re-release on PS4, but 91% of sales were for the PS5 version.

This was followed very closely by Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. The PS5 exclusive rose eight places thanks to a 105% increase in sales week-on-week.

Third spot belongs to a game from the same developer as Ratchet & Clank -- Spider-Man: Miles Morales -- which saw a 92% sales spike, taking the game to No.3.

It means last week's No.1, Mario Kart 8: Deluxe, drops to No.4 despite only a slight 4% drop in sales week-on-week.

The new release of the week was Madden NFL 22, which debuts at No.19 in the charts. The American football title's sales are 47% lower than the launch week of last year's game. However, this chart only tracks boxed sales, so it's not clear how well the game truly performed (we'll find out later in the week). 49% of its sales came on PS5, followed by 32% on PS4, 13% on Xbox One and 7% on Xbox Series X/S.

For the first time in more than three decades, Nintendo has swept the Top 30 video games charts in Japan, completely dominating the list with Switch titles.
