Hype level is through the roof for the next Spiderman movie installment. Smart advertising to put the PS5/Dualsense 5 into consumers' heads at the end of the trailer. Pretty sure this will keep selling Spiderman Remastered and Miles Morales through the holidays into next year. Then if Sony announces Spiderman 2, the hype train will continue.

Of course, it’s spider-man. Everyone love Spider-Man

Sony PS5 breaks new record.

PS5:XS 14:1 ratio in Spain in this selling week.

PS5 needed 8k more to best the Switch in 2021, sold 14k and is now the best selling console of the year.

You try too hard to diss gamepass(no surprise being a MS product).
Of course it sells more when not on GP but that shows how big GP is plus MS pays a good sum for it to go on the service to make up for the loss of sales...
And if it goes on the service that will also help sales due to word of mouth but this and links from actual devs have been posted several times showing the benefits of GP but you will continue to ignore as it goes against the agenda you have.

There's also evidence that it doesn't help sales as much on some other bigger name titles. Outriders rumoured to not break even. Flight sim nowhere to be found in the sales charts. I'm sure the word of mouth helps smaller indie titles but popular games already have a big enough following that having it on GP may hurt sales. Just saying in some cases GP may help, in others not so much as you can see for the multiplat games that are not on GP day 1 the sales gap is usually smaller.

They got paid for Outriders so if its not broken even that's due to other things. Doesn't look like it sold great on PS so what's to blame for that?
Flight Sim had a very limited physical release and up until it launched only amazon had it for pre order. Live struggled at launch due to so many trying to play it which usually only happens at Christmas.

Got to add this here yet again because some people must only have 12 hour memories.

Outriders' Xbox Game Pass Success was 'Pleasant Surprise' for Square Enix

Square Enix is 'pleasantly surprised' with digital sales of RPG third-person shooter Outriders, and cites Game Pass as a reason for its success.

Thanks for agreeing. That's the point I was trying to make.

Yeah devs get paid for day 1 GP but we don't know how much and if it was enough to compensate for missed sales. Sometimes yes, sometimes no depending on how popular the game is.

Slowly but surely video games are starting to come out at UK retail, and this week there's a new boxed No.1.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite from Focus Home Interactive comfortably takes the top spot, making it Focus' first No.1 in three years.

The title sold best on PS5 (42% of sales), followed by Xbox Series S/X (31%) and then PS4 (27%).

The game sold more than double that of Mario Kart 8: Deluxe, which sits in second place. Mario Kart actually rose two places in the charts despite a 6% drop in sales week-on-week.

Last week's No.1, Sony's Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut, falls from No.1 to No.9 after a sales drop of 50% week-on-week. Indeed, the big PS5 exclusives all dropped around 50% in sales week-on-week, including Spider-Man: Miles Morales (from No.3 to No.5) and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (from No.2 to No.12). These games jump up and down the charts depending on the availability of PS5 hardware.

There were other new games in the charts. No More Heroes 3 arrives at No.16 on Nintendo Switch. The game will likely have performed better as a digital release, and digital data is not counted in these charts.

Meanwhile, Sniper: Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 - Elite Edition arrives at No.31 on PlayStation 5.

Here is the GfK top ten for the week ending August 28, 2021:

I'm glad the game is off to a good start. Its a lot of fun. I got it for the PS5 as it helps me spread out my gaming between the two platforms and its been a smooth experience there.

Is there couch coop for this game? Can you play with 2 players locally then have the third as an AI or online friend?

I know you can play with AI teammates but I'm not sure if the game supports local co-op. But if you're looking for an extra player via online co-op on PS5 hit me up.

Didn't we have the same discussion a few pages back?

It comes up every other week when someone gets upset about GP.

Still waiting on digital to be included to make the UK charts relevant again. But then that will just mean GTA V sitting at No.1 most of the year...

UK August monthly results (HW)

#1 PS5
#2 NSW
#3 XBS

Well, at least this analyst agrees that these monthly UK sales charts gives us a good indication of what's selling or not, regardless of digital sales.
