But I keep hearing GP promotes more game sales
Which is the opposite of what I keep seeing here. Many say that since a game is on GP that's why they are not buying it.
Only in Europe and Japan though :’(

In the case of that descenders game it could well of we don't get many articles around it.
Wait, did Hades get a physical release other than the switch version?
It only counts when I say it counts?
Are you gonna continue to subscribe to GP?

‘Outriders’ Dev Doesn’t Know Sales, Hasn’t Been Paid Royalties By Square Enix

The long term future of Outriders may be in doubt as the reality on the ground is not as rosy as Square Enix had indicated near launch. When Outriders was released a few months ago, Square Enix said they were happy with initial sales and its playerbase size. But as time has gone on, People Can Fly is now speaking up about the rather bizarre situation currently going on with the game.
In a message on their investor website (via IGN), People Can Fly has said they don’t actually know how many copies Outriders has sold. They are guessing around 2-3 million, but they have not gotten any actual figures from Square Enix itself.
The other problem? The game does not appear to be profitable yet. The reason they’re talking about this with investors at all is because this month they were supposed to earn royalties on the game, paid by Square Enix. But…they didn’t, indicating the game had not yet recouped its development, QA and marketing costs, so People Can Fly has earned no royalties from it.
There is an undercurrent of frustration in the statement from People Can Fly, as they talk about how they’re planning to do more projects outside of deals with larger publishers so they can have more control over things like marketing or owning the IP. They indicated that their own sales estimates make it seem like the game should be profitable, but that factors out of their control, like perhaps Square Enix’s marketing budget, have caused that not to be the case.
Past that, there’s also the decision to launch the game on Xbox Game Pass, which yes, expands a game’s playerbase dramatically, but also is not selling copies of the game. Outriders is a game without any DLC or microtransactions, so there’s really no logical reason at all for players to purchase the game or spend money on it given that it’s on Game Pass.
I don’t think People Can Fly is wholly blameless here. Outriders did appear to have the wind at its back, launching with over 120,000 players on Steam, quadruple what a comparable game like Marvel’s Avengers did at launch. But the game was quickly “Cyberpunked” by some pretty nasty glitches, including poor performance on platforms, and what might have been its death sentence, a bug that deleted players’ entire inventories that was not rectified for a month, and either caused players to quit or scared them away.
There is no indication what the future of Outriders may hold. Square Enix’s initial excitement seemed to indicate that the game could get a large expansion or sequel, but if it’s not profitable yet, perhaps that’s not in the cards after all, and this will be another title in the looter graveyard, even though I still maintain it’s more fun and better designed than other games that have failed in the genre.
Game development, it’s a tough business. We’ll see if Outriders survives it in the long run.
Sounds like SE are being utter dicks and hiding sales numbers. Even so they wouldn't get the money right away but hopefully it ends well especially as they have already signed on to make another game with them.

SE is rubbish, didn't they say tomb raider or hitman was unsuccessful even though it sold just under 10 million? Outriders was such a missed opportunity they really messed it up, I don't think it was going to have legs regardless.
Dispute its problems, outraiders is one of the better original game this year.More info
People Can Fly suggests Outriders hasn't made a profit
People Can Fly has revealed that its new multiplayer shooter Outriders failed to break even in its opening quarter. In b…www.gamesindustry.biz
In both a note to investors and a financial filing, the Polish developer reports that it has yet to receive a royalty payment from the game's publisher Square Enix. Royalties were only to be paid after all costs covered by the publisher had been recouped.
According to the publishing agreement, any royalties generated by Outriders' profits were to be paid to People Can Fly within 45 days of the end of the calendar quarter in which it was released.
Outriders launched on April 1, meaning that payment should have been made by yesterday (Monday, August 16) at the latest. But People Can Fly reports no such payment has been transferred into its accounts.
"This probably means that, according to Square Enix, the game Outriders did not break even after the first quarter of sales," the studio wrote in a note to investors, as translated by Google.
Sebastian Wojciechowski, president of People Can Fly's management board, estimates Outriders has sold between two million and three million units, but the studio "assumed that this was a result that would ensure profitability."
He suggests that this may be due to costs around distribution platforms, "entities offering Outriders as an addition to their platform," or other expenditure for Square Enix that People Can Fly is unaware of. He adds that he "[doesn't] want to speculate" and that the studio will analyse the situation further.
"Despite this disappointing information, we believe that [People Can Fly] will receive the first royalties from the sale of Outriders this year."
It's an odd revelation, given that Square Enix has publicly celebrated the launch of Outriders, revealing that it reached 3.5 million players in the first month.
This does not equate to direct sales as the title was also included in Xbox Game Pass from launch, which the publisher said has helped raise player numbers above expectations.

Because more than a calendar quarter, plus 45 days, have now passed since Outriders’ release without any payment, “this probably means that, in Square Enix’s opinion, the Outriders game has not exceeded the break-even point,” the developer said.
CEO Sebastian Wojciechowski said in a statement: “We do not have any sales figures for Outriders – we estimate sales to be between 2 and 3 million copies and we assumed that this result would make the project profitable already in the first quarter of sales.
“The lack of payment from the publisher probably means that in Square Enix’s opinion this is not the case after all.”
The CEO went on to speculate that the reason for the lack of royalty payments could be due to elements of Square Enix’s sales agreements, and appeared to point to its day one deal for Xbox Game Pass as one possible explanation.
Why didn't you highlight the part where square said the GP deal had already been justified and they were happy with sales and player base? You just love to crap on GP any chance you get
“[The lack of royalty payment] may have been determined by some elements of Square Enix’s sales policy, the details of which we do not know, such as partnerships concluded by the publisher with distribution platforms or entities offering the Outriders game as an add-on to their products,” he said.
