Well praised.....its only been out barely two weeks with minimal gaming news coverage and with most likely a spike in youtube creators making vids about farming. Its generated a slight buzz among gamers who look for gaming news, but the way you put its like the demo has gone viral.

Meh, it doesn't matter. I just hope the full release is fun.
Oh please. It has been well praised for months from from early previews to official infio videos.

But lets blame marketing like it is the mid 90's.

It really isn't, though.

You're misrepresenting the numbers. Sure 2 million out of 250 million is only a very minor percentage but that 250 million is all encompassing (consoles, PCs, smart devices, tablets, etc) It shouldn't be used as a total to compare these downloads against.

On Xbox alone the likes of CoD or Fifa only have between 100K to 500K on average actively playing (and yeah, I know they are paid games but they are the biggest titles on consoles). Fortnite, which is free and arguably the biggest game in the world at the minute, runs about 500K active users.

So yeah, if 2 million players downloaded this demo it is a decent number. If even half of them buy the game and then only one tenth actually play it (being pessimistic here) that will still put them into the 50K regular active users on xbox alone.

I read 2 of the Q & A sessions the devs put out. A couple things stood out like no PVP (yay). With no PVP and thus no balancing needed for it. The devs have more freedom to go a little nuts with weapon talents/mods. But they also said the game doesn't support voice comms. I find that weird for a co-op centered shooter. I guess we can use party chat for consoles but its a little strange that the game doesn't have its own voice chat option.

They also made mention of the Pyromancer, they said its one of the strongest classes and had to pay attention to that class to make it so it wouldn't feel too powerful early in the game. Future content support will depend on how the game performs after release. That's something I expected since Square seems to have poured more resources into Avengers with Outriders not being much of a priority for them.

Ohh boy, a few players are reporting that legendary items they farmed for have disappeared. Imagine farming for hours to get a weapon you've wanted only to find it disappeared after logging back in. For me, that would kill the game. Lost progress or items due to no fault of the player is not something I think I could tolerate in a looter-shooter. Even if if happened one time it would severely erode my confidence in the game/developers.

happened to a buddy of mine. He quit back to the lobby and the legendary LMG he just got was gone. It might still be there in the players vault storage.

but yeah, that would be a bad bug to have in the game at launch.

I just played through the prologue from the demo. The recoil is horrible (wobbling side to side), and there's a bit too much dialogue, but overall seems like folks who like Division will like this game. I'm personally turned off by GAAS.

It’s not GAAS. One of their biggest points they’ve been trying to hammer home actually.

Prologue was ass btw. Gets much better.

Looks like this is on Gamepass. Nice.

Yeah. So awesome that this is coming to GameStop on day one. It should really boost the numbers playing.

there is absolutely no GAAS involved with this game. These guys have gone and released a full game and given away a free demo with carry over characters. It’s a fantastic stance to see a game company take these days.

Cool - how's the grinding in this game? Hopefully not too bad.

descent in the demo. Good high level gear drops to keep the progression going. You can even farm Legendary weapons in the demo and those things are the best. The look and feel of them really sets them apart from the regular loot.

Depends what you find bad about grinding.

What I will say is that so far the legendaries I have got were worth the hours upon hours of grinding. Can't say that about many looter shooters. Not sure if that will hold true in the full game, though, with Epic variants and crafted weapons bridging a gap.

Yeah, they really put time into the Legendary weapons. I've loving shotgun that makes enemies float up in the air  I'm thinking I want another copy of that shotty so I can strip out the mods and put them in an LMG. I wonder how many enemies I can juggle in the air at time then!

I love The Division games, but I despise this. It's like they mixed Halo, Brute Force and Gears of War together and none of it is good. Terrible voice acting. Terrible feel while controlling the character. The gunplay is awful. The only redeeming quality is that it doesn't look too bad overall. This game is so unbelievably generic in every way.

Yeah I'm not a fan of the voice acting.

If they fixed the clunky cover system, I will play it again. The control is super clunky with mouse/keyboard

Gunplay is very similar to Division 2.

No reedemable qualites other than graphics? So, a looter shooter that gets loot right isn't a redeemable quality? How about a looter shooter where the pinnacle legendary/exotic (you know, the stuff you supposed to grind for) actually looks and feels that way? How about skills that are actually interesting and not some bland generic crap like other big games in the genre?

Agreed. I honestly dont get the “generic” complaint. I guess it’s kinda like The Division and Destiny... but not that similar. With the super cool powers and the incredible loot synergies and possibilities there, the art style may be the only thing to me that is generic actually.

The biggest differences between this, Destiny,, and Division is this ain't GaaS and this is far more linear.

Yeah, it definitely is- although all campaigns are linear in some regard. We havent seen the endgame in action yet. But I get the feeling the mission areas will all be pretty straightforward and not wide open spaces. Kind of like Diablo 3 rifts maybe.

Expeditions sound like they are similar to what we have seen, but harder and with a time limit.

Maybe for you. I had no interest in the game. Checked out some video on my YouTube feed that made it look interesting. Downloaded the demo. Constantly skipping awful cutscenes. Get to shoot some floating things for practice. More cutscenes. Run around looking for something that idk what it was because I skipped the horrible cutscenes with laughable voice acting. More awful gunplay. Closed application.

Maybe if they didn't fill a demo with constant cutscenes with old school RE type horrible voice acting I could give it a chance. Is this gonna be a free to play game?

By that description you didnt even make it to the actual game, past the lame tutorial/prologue.

I nearly quit during that too, actually. Especially after it crashed. Loaded it up the next day and was hooked.
