Yeah the hate wasn't at TV.

It was forced Kinect
Online every 24 hours or games wouldn't play
Tried to kill the 2nd hand market
Being much more expensive than the PS4

And so on
When I was young & in school. MY techer told me a case study of importance of asking the right question. Asking the wrong questions, & you will get the wrong answers.

He cited case of new coke, where they shown 2 coke drinks (One original, one "improved" & asked which one people like more? More people picked the "improved" coke. So coke company change the orginal coke to the new favor.

It was a big failure as coke drinkers refused to drink new coke & want the old coke back.! Very soon, coke revert & switch back to original coke.

They asked the wrong question "Do you prefer the new taste" instead they should have asked "would you buy the new favor coke over the orginal one?"

The same can be said of the TV drama. They asked what do they do most with their 360. High percentage said, watch TV. So they thought it was a good idea tro focus on TV stuff. Thats like Porsche asking customers if they drive more on comfort mode or sport mode, & most said comfort mode & then Porsche design their next 911 to be more comfort & economy focus then performance.

So they asked which people liked more and got the answer, but people wanted the one they liked least. That makes no sense.

MS got their usage numbers via statistical data. They didn't even ask a question.

This is a real world case. It make sense.

Just because I like taste of something better doesn't mean I wanted something I enjoy replaced. If they have a new softdrink with the new favor, & keep the old it wouldn't be an issue. There are alot of case study detailing this. Below is an example.

The new Coke was a great example of some failures that we still see today and a lot of it applies to video games:

-Over-hyping something to excess. Hype something up way more than it deserves, and you're going to have people with too high of expectations. Marketing will tell you that hype is good, but you better deliver on that hype or it is going to fall flat. New Coke wasn't really all that much different from the original, but you hyped it, so people had high expectations when trying it. A change to a simple soft drink didn't need all this attention.

-Trying to attract new customers while paying less attention to the old ones. Video games make this mistake all the time. They try an attract a new audience, and their dedicated audience feels slighted.

-Coke sold tons of product, but they wanted "more". The drive to do more ended up hurting them in the long run. What's funny though is the reversal actually got them more positive attention, and ultimately it helped their sales

It doesn't make sense. Neither does what you say here. Here is a better product you like more but you don't want it. What stupid s*** is that. If you prefer the new you not going to buy the old. Why would you buy an inferior product that you like less? You wouldn't.

There are many reason people stick to what they liked even if they think something is better. I know many phones are better than iphones but I am just used to IOS. There are driver that think autogear is better, but they are used to manual so resist the change. People who like KFC might think another fried chicken is better, but they might not want the formula of KFC to match the other as they used to the taste & it what make KFC KFC.

Something being better isn't the same as something you like more. Which is what the original question asked. If you like pop eye chicken more than KFC odds are when you want chicken you will most likely get pop eye, KFC changing their formula wouldn't mean squat to you.

I don't remember the exact question. I think it's more like "which one tastes better." The underlining point is they asked the wrong question, hence get the wrong answer. It's important you get the question right.

Well, inregards to X1, they never asked the question. So, kinda irrelevant.

Anyone else already feel like the novelty of having the new consoles in the entertainment center has worn off? I already forgot about my X1X and PS4 Pro. Now that these new ones are unboxed and have been used for a few months, I lost that loving feeling.

At least we got good games coming!

They did studies and found many 360 owners used their console to watch TV, so they thought they should focus on TV. Wrong focus. What gamers do most, and what gamers want most is different.

Yup, after beating Miles and Demon's Souls, just slowly playing through Days Gone, NBA 2K21 and the new PS+ games Man Eater, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Greedfall on the PS5. Can't wait for Control for February PS+ offerings.

Probably used their consoled to watch TV cause Xbox360 had no new games to play in its latter years. Lol

I'm still grinding through AC Valhalla (great game but looong) and I still haven't managed to get a PS5.

For me, playing an AC game at a smooth framerate and still with great visuals is pretty cool, even if the lines between this gen and last gen are smaller.

I still haven't even gotten to Cyberpunk.

Machine learning might be as much as part of whatever RDNA3 turns out to be as cache scrubbers. What we do though is Xbox is full RDNA2 and we don’t even know what defines that.

AMD defines the names & the names are linked to the architecture.

I tried ACV at 60 FPS, didn't last long. 30FPS quality mode all day long.

Damn really. 60 fps all the way for me if the option is there. So far, all the next gen games I have played I have used the 60 fps mode if it's there, I've tried the 30 fps but the increased visual smoothness and controls responsiveness are hard to beat.

60fps but depends on the resolution... drops to 670p on XSS is unacceptable.

I tried 60 FPS with Fenyx Rising aswell, no go there. Quality mode all day long. 60 FPS in these games just doesn't offer enough to warrant it.

True. I'm expecting at least 1080p+/60fps at the minimum.

Haven't tried Fenyx Rising with 60FPS but Demon's souls, Miles, Valhalla, the next gen games so far all prefer 60FPS myself.

Playing some Miles Morales last night and my PS5 definitely has some coil whine. I describe it as mild at least when compared to others. But it’s there.

4K/30fps > 1440/60fps
It is game dependant imo. Games like Forza Horizon 5 will benefit more from 60FPS as will other faster moving games. Slower games like AC it mostly seems a waste. But, having said that, quality mode in AC V on XSX doesn't seem like a big improvement anyway. So, why switch? Where as XSS the quality mode is a big difference.

Features Have to Be Fitted to XSS Memory; It Would Have Been Much Easier with single XSX SKU

"Yes, the Xbox Series S requires additional optimization. While we were able to simply compile The Riftbreaker for the Xbox Series X and it "just works", the XSS requires additional optimization. Still, it doesn't look like it will require that much work to be running well at 1080p on the XSS. The best thing about the current architecture is that the CPU power on both Xbox models is practically the same. Scaling graphical effects is a lot easier than scaling gameplay. The amount of available memory is a determining factor in a lot of cases when we talk about the size of a game world or about how many things can be happening within it at any given time. The size of the memory that is available in the XSS is the actual determining point for the entire console generation as gameplay features have to be fitted to the lowest spec. From the point of view of a developer it would be much easier if there was a single XSX SKU, but given the circumstances I think that Microsoft has made good choices in how to create a much cheaper console, that can still run next-generation games"
