All this friction just shows how MS did really well this e3.

Gaming is better for everyone with strong competition. MS stepping up big time is great for the future. It will push Sony even more to be even better.

This I agree. From what I seen on Youtube, most agree this is one of the best E3 since 360 years by MS. It make me swap my card for gamepass. I am enjoying Forza Horizon 4 at the moment, & have Wolfenstein, Doom Eternal, Halo 5, Medium, Dishonoured & much more game I wanted to play, all on gamepass.....before the flood of Autumn games like Halo Infinite & FH5.

Discussion of why games don't count is dumb because there is always zero consistency to it

Yup, still waiting for those Xbox fans that said Miles doesn't count to answer if Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5 will count because they are also cross gen at release.

They say one thing but when the same logic gets applied to the Xbox side, crickets.

Also I think I read somewhere that Flight Sim may still be coming to the X1 at a later date? Will that go from counting to not counting then when it is official? 😜

I think the issue is that people act like the PS5 launch and early lineup was so amazingly good that it couldn't possibly be matched, and that's an exaggeration in my opinion. PS did better than MS at launch for sure, but both lineups were thin early on.

Also arguing over games that won't even be out by next year's e3 is just tough because we know so little. Games like Starfield are a perfect example. We know almost nothing so the game is irrelevant for right now. It could be the greatest game in the world or a massive flop. Who knows? There's no point speculating as it is just a wild guess.

The onslaught of games from Microsoft start next month with Flight Simulator. An AAA exclusive that has a 96% Critic Recommended rating at Open Critic. Also looking to be the new graphical standard for console games based on the trailer MS released last week. And EVERY MONTH after that through the end of the year Xbox Game Studios is banging out great AAA titles.

Well if games that are not in the top 10 are considered not popular, then I am the least popular game player in the world. Most of the games I play are not in the top 10, ever. :(
I just give an example to find if a game is popular or not. I never imply you cannot find data beyond top 10. there are steam charts, Google trends etc....

I think the issue is people not giving enough credit to the PS5 launch line up. I remember Xbox fans saying both were lackluster. Is Demon's Souls/Miles/Sackboy/Astro's Playroom/Godfall chopped liver? (Okay Godfall might be) Xbox fans like to bring up free updates from older games, what about the free 20 critically acclaimed PS Plus collection of PS4 games for PS5 owners, not going to list them all as you can find them online but people often like to not mention this collection either because reasons.

The PS5's launch has been better than the PS4's launch which is all one can really hope for going from generation to generation. 8 months from launch, we already have a couple of additional exclusive releases like Destruction All Stars (meh), Returnal (awesome), Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart (masterpiece), FF7 remake Intergrade / Yuffie DLC (good), Guilty Gear Strive (not a fan of fighting games but greatly reviewed).

Now we have to see if Sony can continue the momentum for the rest of the year. There is Kena and HFW that I am personally looking forward to for the rest of this year.

People have short memories for what it looks like on consoles in the early days. Think about what these consoles had at this point last time.

It is very disingenuous to look at what Sony has shipped in 7 months and say "that's it?". Can't people say Xbox is about to be past its drought and its good times ahead without having to pretend Sony fell asleep at the wheel?

From my experience, be it friends, family, interwebs, sims are extremely popular on console. But no matter. To each their own.

Context matters. Saying Flight Simulator doesn’t count because it is NOT released on Xbox is valid, when talking about what has been release on next gen consoles.

it’s not inconsistent when it’s literally not available.

Literally no one ( at least in this forum) even the so called Ponies, that even hint at such. At best they said Sony has a much better lineup than MS, which the voice of reason ( that would be me) also agree.

I haven't played Godfall, but I heard a lot of "meh" around it. Spider Man is great, but it is mostly a remaster and an expansion. Did it give them the early lead? Absolutely. The point is MS near term is looking as good if not stronger.

Godfall is meh. And it’s coming to PS4.

If your are middle class in a first world country, if you worry about missing out on games, get both consoles.

Gaming is not a religion or politic. You do not have to pick a side. When I was younger, and had lots of time, I had Xbox and PS consoles. Nowadays I had less time, I just pick the platform I like ( PC) and just enjoyed the games that are release on it.

And yet, that is what people do. No idea why they do, but they do.

You didn't. Yoi gave a link to vague top 10 list site in order to validate your stance.

Simple fact is this info is very scattered. Usually don't include sales numbers, and doesn't break down by platform. So, begs the question, where in the f*** did you get all the info to make your claim?

Same about Godfall.

I keep reading Xbox fans saying Miles is an expansion yet the devs themselves said it's a standalone game. The main story takes at least 8 hours or so (personally took me 10-11 hours at my own time) with the platinum trophy around 17-18 hours. The Medium is 7-8 hours with completionist at 9 hours max. Would you call the Medium an expansion?

What differentiates the two?

We can never get exact number, but we iterate popularity base on relative sales Of Games.
for example on steam Chart, you cannot know sales on other platforms, but you can compare its sales with other games on the chart, if a game do well on ps4, then you should expect it to do well on Xbox since target audience are similar.

So where is this info? You keep rambling on but offer nothing. steam is not the only retailer, and if we use sales as popularity then steam is worthless.

Lets start small, what sale number does a game have to reach to be popular?

Being an expansion to a previous game. Same city, same controls, no big changes. Basically just "more" of an already good game (which is fine). The devs can call it whatever they want, the fact that they didn't charge full price for it at launch shows it for what it is. I've also never mentioned the Medium here, ever. Played it a bit and quit, wasn't my kind of game. Isn't big on my list of things people should be excited about. What MS showed at e3, that looks impressive.

Well at least you called Miles an expansion. Others have called it DLC.

If Spiderman 2 is in the same city, similar controls, would you call it an expansion too? Doesn't make sense. Call it what it is. If it's a DLC or expansion, the devs will say so.

I call it a game since the new content is there that can last up to tens of hours and you're not playing as Peter Parker. You have new powers and abilities. You're playing a completely different story.

Yes, I'm happy Xbox fans finally have something to look forward to.
