It would come down to personal preference. No one game is the best looking ever simply because of subjective opinions on art direction and what the game is doing. In that way there's no real wrong opinion.

Flight Sim definitely seems to be the best looking game on Xbox though and one of the best looking console game out there for what it is doing. It's a flight sim of the world so on a macro level, it looks amazing because of how far you are viewing the assets. When you fly near the buildings and grounds though, the GFX are almost OG Xbox / PS2 level and that's because you are not meant to see them that close. The grand scale of what Flight Sim is doing is technically impressive too. I wonder if the enhanced graphics package you can buy would fix that or is that meant for something else?

In a way, you can't really compare Flight Sim and Rift Apart because they are two entirely different genres of games. For me though, if you really want to compare the two, Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart bests it because of how the game runs and looks while supporting raytracing + real time reflections, 60 fps, LOD0 (same assets in gameplay as in cutscenes), high poly textures, unprecedented visual density packed in one screen, particle effects, animations + NPC/AI calculations.

This doesn't take away from what Flight Sim is doing or how it great it looks but to me, the amount of stuff going on in the screen while playing Rift Apart makes it visually more impressive in terms of sheer graphical/visual fidelity.
One game moves super slow and shows very little in the way of anything moving, the other one has things moving all over the place, explosions, particles like crazy etc and can still run at 60fps with RT none of those things are happening in flight sim it's just a plane flying over what looks to be static locations, the roads are almost empty and whenever you get close to anything the illusion of realism falls apart. It's silly to compare then because they are both so different.

One game moves super slow
An Airbus 320 goes 541 mph in the game. GTFO.

The other is on some teeny tiny little map the size of a single molecule compared to the entire EARTH in Flight Simulator, with moving cars, live and active weather, including hurricanes, and other airplanes.

Sucking on Jim Ryan's teat as usual I see.

You couldn't see that? LOL it was obvious, it's on the X footage when it happens, at least the stuff I'm talking about. There is nothing showing but snow and mountains, no trees or anything else. that's why it surprised me that it was happening so close to the camera. Trees and stuff I can understand because it always happens in flying games. I didn't realize you needed to be connected online to get all of the visual features either that's pretty messed up.

Exactly. The gameplay itself is worlds apart. They are not supposed to be compared at all, lol. Other than lift off and landing, you are just looking around and observing the environment in Flight Sim (shocker because that's what flying a plane is like) whereas in Rift Apart it's more like all in your face explosions, particles, shooting enemies and constant action/moving around.

It's like comparing a history documentary with the Incredibles Pixar film, you can't really.

I'm sure they will find a way to s*** all over The Ascent, Psychonauts 2, Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite yet this year.

This game is getting a lot of praise. I am going to download and check it out. Not my kind of game, but after watching some youtube videos I can see why many praise it as a beautiful and relaxing game.

Yes, prepare to relax.

I’m shocked the usual suspects in this thread are trying to downplay Flight Sim, SHOCKED!

And I'm shocked the usual suspects are once again trying to downplay another Sony exclusive while putting their Xbox exclusive on a pedestal, SHOCKED.

I mean it’s getting rave reviews and players are calling it an amazing next gen achievement. Yep you salty alright.

Right. I said Flight Sim is the best looking Xbox exclusive out right now and is a graphical showpiece but I guess the fact I didn't shoe in another Sony jab or kick like Xbox fans here with my post, it makes me salty. 🙄

Oh damn. You went all in.

Hell yeah I did. All I need is a roll cage lol.

EDIT: yeah I tried the Xbox controller. It is good for what it is. You will have to spend some time in the settings to get it dialed in correctly. I spent at least 30 minutes on the single occasion I played with my controller.

No, Hedon did saying Rift Apart is like a 3DS game compared to Flight Sim. Not sure why though other than being insecure.
But why are you lying? YOU brought it up.

Oh , I remembered wrong, you brought up Ghost of Ikishima earlier instead of Rift Apart 🤣

You should really piss them off and tell them their preferred console can't even give them the optimal experience unless it's connected to the internet lol. I'm just messing around I really don't care to be honest, I hope those that want to play the videogame equivalent of a sleeping pill have a great time. You shouldn't even bring up that it's a port of a year old PC game and that it's about as fun as watching paint dry, the point is that it's something new from Microsoft (new to them that is as long as they didn't play it on PC) and they've waited a looong time to be able to say that. :p
