Assuming they find some way to make use of that extra SSD speed without requiring 500GB installs to make use of it. But the real reason to buy s PS5 is for Sony's games.
And the real reason to buy an Xbox will be for Microsoft's games. Those are the two things that truly will separate the two consoles.
to be fair. That's a MS second party developer. I hate all of this speculation. It's meaningless. We won't know until we get there. I'm pretty sick all around of these stories. It is time for show not tell.
They aren't anymore. Unless Microsoft dropped a bag of cash on them recently, they're going to make a multiplat ARPG next. I believe Microsoft did approach them about a buyout however they wanted to branch out and gain more exposure.
The lowest common denominator is the Xbox One since it is forward compatible. It is also the least powerful (even to the PlayStation 4) of the platforms while housing an HDD, so I'm not sure how trustworthy that statement is.
Which is likely why their strategy isn't solely focused around visuals, but immersion, too.
I'm 95% sure Moon's next gen is multiplat next gen only. He's not a fan of making games work on the OG Xbox One due to how limiting it is. He's very honest off the record and in no way bought and paid for.
People have taken the cross gen development stuff out of context. Microsoft is developing for Xbox One because they can afford to. I've heard Halo's single player will be a different experience on the Series X. Most games which have started development recently are primarily considering next gen hardware in their game design. When Matt Booty promises cross gen for a year or 2, keep in mind anything releasing in a year or 2 began game design on OG Xbox One.
If the dev wants it to be next gen only, they can do so. I think at least two of the games from the laughably titled gameplay reveal of the xsx aren't going to be playable on the x1. MS first party, so far, are supposedly supporting the X1 still, but honestly the CPU and HDD make that a barely tenable prospect long-term.
With many recent triple a titles being around a hundred gigs could the PS5 hold around six games whilst the XSX around eight?

I fully expect HZD2 to be the best looking 1st wave of games of the next gen of consoles. In addition to being tech wizards on every console they've ever worked on, they've been targeting next gen since they released HZD1. Will be surprised if anyone matches their visuals until years 2 to 3 of the next gen. Sony is mostly a known quantity however one of my big questions is whether their big studios will at least take swings at multiplayer or will they continue to stay in their lanes.
HZD3 will be a visual gem...let’s just hope they get those facial and head movements smoothen out by then.
What's going to be fun is that throughout the gen, both 1st parties will be armed and fully operational and trying to differentiate their platforms with their areas of strength. I expect Sony to remain the more polished and consistent publisher but for Microsoft to take more risks. Sony to continue pushing the bar for detail and visuals while Xbox will take risks with game design and game development. Sony to focus on mostly swinging for home runs in areas they are established while Xbox will publish more variety. Will be interesting coming back to my predictions after both events.
Guerrilla is doing a MP game along in addition to Horizon 2. They expanded and hired the game director of Rainbow Six Siege.
Naughty Dog likely spun off TLOU mp into its own thing.
I didn't know that. Game director of Siege is pretty huge. I generally bet on game potential based on their creative leads combined with the resources, time and support they get. That's one hell of a combo.
i feel that Sony may play it extra safe with major devs and finish off every trilogy they’ve setup... GoT may be a wildcard, hopefully it pays off for sucker punch.
I guess I am in the minority. I found HZD boring as heck, and I am not looking forward to a sequel. On the other hand, I was hoping that they would put out a new Killzone, which I love.

I believe that. I think MS will be announcing games far out because their studios are so new, and people want to hear about games from MS. This summer is the make it or break it for MS for some gamers on the fence.
Maybe they don't have to go quite as far as 5 years but I think they will because they have more of a need to do it than Sony does.
