A mod with 4K Ultra settings and RT going up against a game with no RT doesn't seem fair does it? That being said I think Demon's Souls still looks quite a bit better, this is the best looking version of WD I've seen though for sure but again it's a mod it didn't come out of the box looking that way. Why does the rain look like it's always 5 feet in front of him? I mean you can see the splash drops around him but you can't see any rain actually around him in those clips.

That's Ubisoft's fault. Still an incredible mod that can be downloaded and played with.

When was that mod done? the game came out in 2014 and looked fine for the time, not as good as it's debut video but things like the rain etc looked quite good.

Extreme graphics mod has been around for a couple of years I believe. Some graphic settings that were present in the debut video were unlocked by modders not long after the game's release. The RT, though, has to be recent.

Probably more noticeable in close up scenes or cutscenes. Will depend on the game.

The difference is stark though IMO with RT on, at least in Control's comparison. Fake plastic doll with emotionless expression when RT is off vs. much softer and life-like facial expressions when RT is on. What a difference raytraced lighting makes with the shadows cast properly and everything.

Have you seen the comparison videos?

The visuals are next level, in fact it runs at a higher frame rate and fidelity than the creators ever intended on tv.. and the audio, well, cinematic only begins to describe it.

Raytracing with a liked frame rate and resolution yo!!!!

The game looks incredible without mods. The game world is so full of life and beauty. I can walk around for hours without having to play the game.

Why does the rain look worse? I mean the drops, in the real game it's transparent (most of the time) and in this it's just white lines. It does look very nice, how powerful of a GPU do you need to run it at those settings with that mod?

Well he was running it on a 3090 @8K max settings.

As for the rain?....I think he had the mod handling the contrast settings too aggressively.

An RTX 3090 is the only hardware you can run it on at those resolutions and not be memory constrained.

I've played the game modded up to that level on my own PC and nothing else compares. It's like playing a game from the future.
Crysis modded on the PC comes close but nothing else IMHO. I mean....read the comments on that youtube video.

If you want to talk graphics....PC is STILL the king.

That last line is what's wrong though, it makes it sound like PC is a fixed platform and it's the furthest from that of any gaming platform. PC has the potential to have the best looking games but it all depends on how much you have to spend etc.

Don't get me wrong.....there are always going to be PCs that can't produce PS5 or Series X graphical showcases. The vast majority of home PCs can't. That is to be expected....but the POTENTIAL for better graphics is always going to be a standard bearer for the PC. Its why Skyrim is still being played and modded to hell...why Fallout still is.

Most people know it isn't a fixed platform and you need to spend money for it to be a better GRAPHICAL experience than a console....but when you do spend that money and you do release the PC platform potential graphically...well we get a game like RDR2 that came out over 2 years ago that looks better than any game out today.

The issue is most people showing off PC games on youtube and other social media don't have these big ass rigs, they are running games at 1080p and then talking about running at high framerates etc. PC has the potential to be the best yes but someone showing what the most powerful GPU can do online isn't a fair representation of the PC gaming experience either.

PC is the king of playing last gen games.
PC=potentially better hardware(most don't good enough builds) with LAST GEN software.
Cross gen games will always favor the PC because of this.

R & C RA and Demon's Souls absolutely smoke anything in there respected genres on PC..

RDR2 HAS PS f***ING 3 quality models!
The Witcher 3 looks better on PC but still looks a gen behind Demon's Souls.
