Just to avoid getting it twisted, I'm not unbiased. I'm biased in favor of Xbox. Not out of corporate loyalty or hopes that they win this dying Twitter sport of plastic wars. Until they're paying for my kids education, could give a f*** about that. I'll upgrade my Pro to a PS5 but my excitement between platforms isn't close. I tossed Iphone aside after 10 years for a Samsung Note because it was more functional for me. I didn't care what my friends thought. Didn't care about what's most popular. What's highest rated. People should buy what they like. Not what the metacritic, list wars snobs or their friends tell them.

I have hundreds of digital Xbox games. I expect them to upgrade better next gen than my Playstation digital games will. Halo is my favorite franchise. Between Halo 5 and MC Collection, put in about 2500 hours this gen. Elite 2 controller is superior to all controllers. If a timed exclusive requires skill and to use both sticks, I'll wait for them to come to the platform where I'll get the superior controls. I play something in Game Pass weekly on either my Xbox or PC. It's the best and most used subscription I've had. Some of my favorite creatives of all time are now Xbox 1st party bringing back one of my favorite genres.

I don't care what the internet is saying. Making up my mind too soon makes me worse than a 12 year old fanboy? I'm too old to give a f*** who made up that rule but you should learn now that it's wrong.

To be honest, nothing has me ready to jump in day one for either console. I mean the games look great, but I haven't seen anything that isn't really more than graphical upgrades yet. With the state of graphics today the jump while measured in metrics seem huge, visually it's not adding enhancement like the xbox 360 jump-ps3 jump. That generation saw graphics evolve where the games were more playable and immersive. My X1x looks great, but when I first start a game I notice the graphics and how nice they are, then as you get into the game it recedes as you just play the game. I'm seriously considering waiting a little bit. I got he Uncharted PS4 and I love the design of it. Thinking I might wait for some special editions of the consoles to release.

Or just get 8bitdo adapter...

Amazon product

Haven't tried this one. Tried 2 versions of the Brook adapter. With that said, 2 weeks ago was trying to play Days Gone. Game forced me to use that touch pad to swipe in difference directions to open different menus. No way to mirror that on the Xbox Elite 2. It'll be the weekend before I'll finally be able to play LoU2 but I hear it also uses the swipe pad.

I will admit the new PS5 controller at least looks looks more ergonomically comfortable. Not the same as offset sticks with 4 comfortably placed paddles, trigger locks and programmable settings but its an improvement. I hope Sony copies Elite 2 as much as they're legally able to next gen. I'll pay the $200. Makes every game better.

Many people only claim to like timed exclusives when this happens on their console of choice. It's probably the most inconsistent motif in the history of gaming fandom. Microsoft got ROASTED for making Tomb Raider a timed exclusive by many of the same people that are OK with Sony doing it, and they always have, since the original PlayStation. To be honest, it worked better before the information was readily available on the internet because the masses just thought something was an exclusive if they didn't see a property on another platform in its first year.

Personally, I think it's neither good nor bad, but it's not really that effective on me because I'm aware of timed exclusives and patient, and never need to play a game in its first year. I didn't need to start playing Spider-Man until I got it cheaply on a digital sale. (I know, that isn't a timed exclusive example) I also never bought Vader Immortal Chapter 3 on Quest because I found out the game/experience will come to PSVR this summer, so I'll just buy the whole package for a little more, as they are pretty short anyway. I usually don't need a brand new game right away because I'm always catching up on older games anyway. Now, new hardware...

I mean, I kind of agree with this... or at least fully understand it, but also Xbox hasn't even had their actual show yet. Just saying.

You may pay the $200, but not many others out there will. You have to carter to what the majority wants and not the super hardcores. A standard controller like that would never sell.

The only upside i see to something like this is when those titles take advantage of the hardware a little more than if they were to release side by side. This happened with Tomb Raider when Microsoft bought exclusive rights for a year. As a result, the touchpad was used. So i think there are pros and cons to things like this.

I was only referring to myself. Elite controllers sell pretty well for enthusiast devices apparently. Would be nice if Sony made an enthusiast controller as an option. Or partnered with someone to take a swing at the Elite controller. It's expensive but considering it's something that impacts my enjoyment of every game, well worth it to me.

I think this needs to sink in:

With three months in market, It is the fifth fastest-selling video game accessory in U.S. history.

I think both companies are setting expectations too high, once again. You ever see brick and mortar stores with giant signs that say, "75% off!" with tiny font saying, "up to"? This is what MS and Sony are doing.

I think the mid generation updates really change things. It would be one thing if we were all jumping from launch consoles to new ones, but the jump from the mid gen consoles just isn't huge. I went from wanting both at launch to probably getting one. I've still got a mountain of games in my backlog to finish and honestly having both an X1X and PS4 pro it is hard to justify upgrading. In past gens, we'd be looking at a 5+ year leap in graphics.

in the latest “series x enhanced “ video there show “standard 30 fps....up to 120fps” but it was animated, in your face and glowing :p I’m too lazy to post it here but I did elsewhere

*edit to add below

I was wrong, it wasn’t glowing, and it’s really “optimized” not enhanced...

I think this is why the controller has the back button attachment rather than an attachment of something else. In addition to this, perhaps it's just not feasible with the amount of hardware that is packed into the controller.

Graphics are going to hit a brick wall. You can only entice those crowds for so long before it becomes a non factor, and it's mainly due to these platforms not standing still anymore. Which is why a different way of thinking is being relied on to reel those users in, and it's only going to get more complex as we go forward.

Sony should of made a Elite controller period.
They also need to step up the horrid build quality.
I remain skeptical but hopeful the DS improves at least the build quality and 3rd party options are available right away.

I don't know about an Elite controller, but i do agree that they could possibly benefit from a more improved, in-house, turbo controller. See, I'm not a fan at all of the universal d-pad, never was since Sega. It's not very accurate at all based on the types of games i play. So because the DualShock's d-pad is so unique from a traditional d-pad (which too works well) let alone the universal d-pad, I'm not sure how Sony would even allow that type of pad to switch out even if they wanted to since it is underneath the face of the controller -- almost like buttons rather than a directional pad. Then you have to deal with the fact that the controller also has a huge touchpad in the center. So like i said, maybe it's the fact that the controller houses a lot of harware internally.

As far as quality, other than the battery, i thought the quality was pretty good. In fact, i still have the launch controller, and that functions almost new-like. This was certainly a huge step up from the DualShock 3 Sixaxis controller. Now that controller was pretty bad. I never went through so many controllers in my life.

If the DualSense is anything like the DualShock 4, which it appears to be and better, based in the ergonomics and the dead zone on the back of the touchpad, then i don't think I'll have an issue with it.
