Thank god a console with some actual specs and not turds like the current ones. Hopefully the specs don't change over time, but I have my doubts about 60fps @ 4K becoming the norm not that it matters to me since it'll be a while before I have a 4K TV.

wait WTF and I'm owning consoles why now? So this is the new thing we'll get console updates every few years? Man f*** it may as well get a PC and hook it up to my TV.
you can but you have to update that too. Same $hit.

Id like to play poker against Phil Spencer, I bet he is an aggressive player. Xbox dropped in his lap looking grim. I can imagine him in a meeting probably a year ago saying "We got two options. One, we can bend over for 6 years, and hurt our brand. Two, we can double down and stand the f*** up. Lets vote."

Yup. Total Alpha male.

He probably flosses with barbed wire.

However it also helps when your company can spend 26 billion and not bat an eyelash. It's like being a tough guy in a bar with 50 defensive ends backing you up.

But seriously he's done an amazing turnaround

Wow, so today the most powerful console in the history of the world drops and people who profess to be gaming fans complain?!?!? Yeah, that makes sense...par for the course. This hobby is full of man-children who's maturity level never rose out of the sandbox and diapers they wore.

THIS IS AWESOME FOR GAMERS!!!

Forget about the price. Forget about everything but the beautiful games you will be playing in 18 months rather than waiting 4-5 more years. Hallelujah!!!

Finally, I feel like MS is going to deliver a console that matches the class of their Elite Controller. This is it, baby. Day One.

From a business POV, isn't it a bad thing to announce Scorpio now when Neo hasn't been announced with specs ?
Sony can just take this time and up their own specs.

Regardless as a gamer this is good stuff. Everyone wins imo. I just hope the games will be great too not just hardware.
I felt that lacked this gen.

Nice to see at the end of the announcement they lock themselves into "the most powerful console ever" so no matter what the competition come out with MS will make sure it's the most powerful console ever.

I'm excited for both the S and Project Scorpio. But today's events showed that hardware power isn't the only thing Microsoft needs to improve.

Pretty exciting...

So then, next year:

1. Microsoft will have the most affordable and compact current gen console, complete with 4k video, UHD output with HDR, 4K Blu-ray player, and the IR blaster to control all your living room stuff. Get one of the best features of the Kinect, built right into the device.

2. Microsoft will have the largest library of games. Free Xbox 360 back compat, all the cross plat games, tons of exclusives (both AAA and indie), etc.

3. Microsoft will have the best ecosystem. Buy once, play anywhere for many of the games, so your library on PC grows as you build your console library, and vice versa. Gamers can stream games from Xbox to PC.

4. Microsoft will have the most powerful console on the planet
. Scorpio destroys PS4, and it'll destroy Neo. It'll be the only console capable of true 4k gaming, and VR done right.

5. Microsoft already has the best controller, but it gets even better. The controller with the S is both Bluetooth and Xbox proprietary tech, so you can use it on any Bluetooth enabled machine (PC's, tablets, phones, etc.) - no dongle necessary.

Yeah, it's a good time to be an Xbox gamer... I can wait to see what people do with Scorpio...

Sony can just take this time and up their own specs.

Even though it hasn't been announced officially, it's been confirmed by numerous sources that the Neo's specs are locked in at this point. They won't be throwing away billions in R&D or their APU just to catch up with Scorpio.

NEO
8 Jag Cores @ 2.1GHz
36CUs @ 911 MHz [4.1TFLPs]
8GB GDDR5 @ 218GB/s

Kind of agree. I have a fairly old PC hooked up to my TV for many years, but it can't play new games so I have a console for that and I've always preferred the console for gaming.

But I need a new PC really so it feels like it makes more sense to drop $1000 for a decent PC and move my gaming habits there vs. a $500 next gen console and still have to spend probably $700 for a new PC at some point soon.

Also this 4k s***, I can't afford a new TV on top of everything else coming up :( Would the benefits of a new Xbox next year with that horsepower be a big noticeable leap forward on a 1080p LED?

Uggh!
Yes because even though your tv will downsample the resolution the games will still have higher details and higher fps and lots of them will be higher resolution too

I really hope they keep the Scorpio name;

Phil Spencer confirmed that the Scorpio is apart of the Xbox One family. My guess is that the One will be followed by a letter or numerical extension to distinguish it from the other X1 devices. Will probably look different too.

If I recall correctly, when the XB1 released, they already showed how you could build a pc for the same price to match the console, and even exceed it. I built my pc for about $700, and it far exceeded the XB1. My previous pc build already match the XB1, and in many respects, exceeded it.
First going from 1985 when NES launched in US typical time between new consoles was 5 years, not including smaller revamps etc.

At release they showed a PC with same price of console that has same specs, but I think it's been proven number of times that with dedicated hardware it gets better optimisation. It was clear that BF4 didn't really get any and that game released in beta stage to the public.

The $500 pc they showed at console release would already be heavily outdated and console visuals still getting better and better.

In April I spent $1800 building a PC and then later added BluRay Burner for $100 and $150 for good wifi card.
I still only stream games from xbox to PC while I'm smoking in the basement lol as the rest of the house is off limits with smoke. Btw had fun with Overclocking my 6700k to 4.98GHz lol couldn't get that last 20mhz for stable 5.0

Didn't I reveive that achievement when I pre-ordered xbox one? LOL

What do you guys think, will xbox owners actually get any benefit from this console + pc marriage? With Scorpio releasing and xbox being marketed as Windows 10 device, would it be too much from us to expect PC to Xbox streaming or PC games actually being released for xbox too?

I'm pretty sure the console is named after me.

They saw some of the stuff I use the Kinect to broadcast, and me being a Scorpio, voila!

I mean, they are only human.
