Exactly what I expected for a response.
So here’s what I expect to hear from them tomorrow:
They’ll prob drop some numbers, but the focus will prob be more on 4K/60 and ‘end result my and not as much on HW numbers. Big talking point will be full BC, and even though MS has been doing this for awhile, it will be considered/presented as something that is new/amazing/unprecedented.
Maybe show it the form factor?
Hopefully a glimpse of TLOU2.
Price probably announced at later event.
No Pro announced because it doesn’t exist.
I love that back buttons look to finally hitting standard consideration. That said... Two? There is a reason that all of these other controllers use 4. Unnecessary simplification, imo. Still, it's better than not recognizing an obvious evolution for controllers.
Well AMD is done and all they said was that PS5 and XSX were RDNA not RDNA 2 so that leads me to believe both machines are RDNA 1 with some RDNA 2 features like RT thrown in. The xbox page says "next gen RDNA" which could easily mean RDNA is next gen compared to GCN, if it were RDNA2 they would have said next generation OF RDNA or flat out said RDNA2. I'm not 100% certain of this of course but I think that way of thinking is making a lot more sense than it did before today.
RDNA was just the generic naming. They never said RDNA 1. Next gen = next generation.
They didn't announce anything about RDNA 2. The only GPU stuff they announced was mobile or less powerful than the 5700. Not that it means anything either way, of course, but AMDs ces had nothing for console other than info on what they're doing with the mobile, which should help set a general range of possibilities in an APU.
So what? I’m hoping it does. But when it’s all said and done, I still think MS will have the better RT solution.
Sony could have melted the internet with anything PS5 today, and they showed a logo.

Incidentally I’ll be in Seattle in 2 weeks. I have a real, actual buddy who is a higher-up in one of the biggest studios there, and I’m supposed to have dinner with him to catch up. If I get details I’ll post them here.
Yeah, I just think people should temper their expectations a bit when it comes to RDNA2 for either next gen console, they'll be entering mass production in August/September so it would seem that RDNA 2 would need to be further along at this point. We'll see, either way both will have hardware accelerated ray tracing and that's probably the thing most people would have wanted from RDNA2 anyway.
CES isn't a Playstation show and Sony never said they were going to present anything regarding PlayStation at the event so anyone expecting some huge announcement let their wishful thinking get the better of them and anyone knocking them for not showing anything is being childish. Same for anyone complaining that Phil Spencer didn't show up on stage at AMD's show and have some big XSX tech blowout, even though some "xbox insiders" had tweeted about that it never made any sense. These companies have their own events for things like that and while yeah they've been doing things a little differently with announcements both companies would have been tweeting about the events ahead of time.
Hardly childish. I just wanted to see more, from both. But considering the attention Xbox has gotten recently, it would have been the perfect opportunity for SOMETHING. Hell, give me a 10 second teaser for TLOU2 in 4k, and I’d have been perfectly satisfied.
It is childish to complain that you didn't get something that was never offered in the first place IMO. I never expected a thing, if they were going to have PS5 news they'd have had it on their twitter and the gaming press would have been invited. CES hasn't been a gaming event for a long time and the fact that Sony themselves never promoted it as having anything to do with PlayStation should have been a dead giveaway, the fact that we got what we did surprised me. Like you I wish we got more because I'm impatient lol but I'm not going to complain that we didn't.
It has been official since October, I don't know why anyone would have doubted it.
Does it not mean something else when it’s a lowercase? Is this some lower tier drive? Am I just making mountains out of m&m’s
