Official Thread Quantum Break

The game looks good and is probably a game I would buy if I had an Xbox One. Nothing ground breaking but a well made fun game with enough nuances in combat to change things up.

When people say this game isnt anything ground breaking, I get confused. I've been gaming for a long time and I've never seen anything quite like Q.B. I'm fairly certain I'll say the same thing after I play it.

Same here. Sounds like a solid shooter/adventure with some interesting mechanics and storytelling. I'd probably wait several months and pick it up at a discount (I do that with most games). In real life, I'm pretty averse to TV, so I'm not sure how I'd like having TV stuff sandwiched in my videogame; it might be a combo I wouldn't like. Overall, though, the reviews suggest it is a good game. I'll be interested to see how it sells.

I agree . Someone would have to play it first to come to that conclusion . Is it or is it not ? I will find out Tuesday and decide that for myself :)

Its not like its a big insult to say its not ground breaking though. Almost no games are these days.

It's an interesting topic worthy of its own thread. What was the last "ground breaking" game you played and what do you expect to be the next? Of course each of us will have unique requirements of what it takes to even qualify a game as "ground breaking".

Edit: made a new thread so not to take this one OT

I don't know if it was the last, but in my mind, Mirror's Edge was ground breaking. The sensation of weight and movement, of free fall, it was both a profound and unparalleled experience. There was nothing like it.

Still. There isnt and hasnt been another game like this one. Remedy are doing things a bit different enough where Q.B. can stand on its own. it's not ENTIRELY unique but it much more unique than any game I've seen, and I've seen thousands through my years as a gamer.

So the only metric for you to class a good game is how well it sells?

I honestly don't think the game is ground breaking at all, unique in some ways yes.

Yeah, well what about that part in the game where the ground breaks??? Huh, huh??? Definitely groundbreaking there! :tounge::wink:

Is that what I said?
" Overall, though, the reviews suggest it is a good game. I'll be interested to see how it sells"

This seemed a odd thing to say. Sales do not indicate if a game is good or not. Look at Beyond Good & Evil for example.

QB will be either deemed fantastic or not by the players.....not by the sales and not by the reviews......the players elevate games to greatness not faceless keyboard warriors pontificating about sales numbers..

Andy didn't hint at sales equating if QB would be good or not.

So excited that this game is finally, nearly here! I saw enough ages ago to be confident in my pre-order. Don't care about resolution, don't care if aspects of the gameplay have been done before, don't care about reviews. I'm excited for this new experience. Passionate people spent the last few years crafting this, and I know it will be awesome.

I feel this way about every single game I buy.

It seems to you like "an odd thing to say," because you read something odd into it. I'm actually a little baffled at where you came up with it. I think other people are, too. It wasn't there in the original post, only a portion of which you quoted.

You took my statement that "I'll be interested to see how it sells," which was an afterthought, and somehow assumed from this that I was really saying "Good sales indicate quality." Not only that, but "The only metric of quality is good sales."

Huh? Those statements are nowhere to be found in my post. They are in your head. You read something into my post that wasn't (isn't) there. You inferred a connection where there was none, and you attributed thoughts to me that are nowhere in the post.

Look, I understand people can misread things for various reasons, so it's okay, but please listen: what you think I said does not even remotely resemble what I actually said.

Looks like a fun game but I dunno if I will be replaying it so like Andy will be picking it up a couple months down the line, looking forward to some impressions here though.

Was going to buy it now to get free PC version, and then try to either wait a bit to play it on Xbox or this fall after upgrading my PC. Was. I will be playing this tomorrow night.
