Agreed. With a fantasy story like this, lord of the rings, Harry potter, etc...you need to suspend belief.
But Star Wars isn't fantasy. It all happened a long time ago in a galaxy far far away.

She was in extreme disbelief herself of what she pulled off with the Millenium Falcon. So whatever skills she learned, either the new director does not acknowledge it or simply felt the need to emphasize that flying the Millenium Falcom as such was way beyond her apparent ability.Try again, in the story "Before the Awakening", a prequel to the force awakens, it's explained that she even spent plenty of time in a fight simulator when she wasn't out scavenging.
So again, where's this hole you keep mentioning.

She has a whole conversation with Han showing her knowledge of the ship. No non pilot could know the s*** she knows.
Plot holes are not the same as simply not liking something in a story.
Late to the party...
I like the movie for the most part but it felt like a teaser for what's to come which I have a hunch will be special. Kylo is goofy and hard to take serious especially without the mask and pales in comparison to Hayden. I feel Snoke is Darth Plaguious (however you spell it)
Hey, I never said she wasn't a pilot. And while that's really cool they made books to explain what J.J. Abrams's movie couldn't, why was she in utter shock of being be to fly the Millennium Falcon like a pro if she was so trained? And how did a scavenger living day to day end up magically being expert pilot and a master mechanic? Nothing adds up in the least bit.1. Just saw it again this morning. It's mentioned at least 3 times that she's a pilot.
2. Like Luke and anakin, the force contributes to them having an innate skill at piloting. The previous movies established that.
3. Considering she spent so much time at piloting and practicing at piloting, she may be a better pilot than Luke. (Funny, Luke never piloted an x-wing, nor any fighter ship, and did so better than those trained to do so...hmmmm, unbelievable)
4. You said she wasn't a pilot...so did you lie?
So, where's the plot hole?
Kylo is goofy looking/acting(not even believable) and doesn't touch the emotion Hayden showed with Anny.
Oh and he needs to keep the helmet on.
Driver is terrible.Driver was good. Hayden might be the worst actor of all time.
Nice troll attempt though.
Hayden's doing what now??

It's easier to explain Luke's speedrun through the Death Star trenches then Rey's narley backflips across the desert.
At first, she’d been truly horrible at it, quite literally crashing a few seconds after takeoff every time. With nothing else to do, and with a perverse sense of determination that she would not allow herself to be beaten by a machine that she, herself, had put together with her own hands, she learned. She learned so much that there was little the program could throw her way that would challenge her now. She’d gotten to the point where she would, quite deliberately, do everything she could think of to make things hard on herself, just to see if she could get out of it. Full-throttle atmospheric reentry with repulsor-engine failure? No sweat. Multiple hull breach deep-space engine flame-out? A walk in the park.
She wasn’t afraid of violence. She didn’t enjoy it, but she wasn’t afraid of it. It was a necessary part of surviving on Jakku. She’d learned to defend herself early. She had been in more fights than she could remember. More wins than losses, thankfully. She was good enough that the word had spread in Niima to stay clear of her and what she could do with her staff. She could fight. She would fight, if necessary.
She’d jury-rigged a computer using pieces scavenged from several crashed fighters over the years, including a cracked, but still-usable display from an old BTL-A4 Y-wing. There were no radio communications to speak of – no way to transmit or receive and, frankly, nobody she wanted to talk to anyway. On the wreckage of a Zephra-series hauler, though, she’d once found a stash of data chips, and, after painstakingly going through each and every one of them, she’d discovered three with their programs intact; one of them, to her delight, had been a flight simulator.
So when she wasn’t sleeping or just sitting and listening to the storm or tinkering at her workbench, she flew. It was a good program, or, at least, she imagined it was. She could select any number of ships to fly, from small repulsor-driven atmospheric craft to a wide variety of fighters, all the way up to an array of stock freighters. She could set destinations, worlds she’d never visited and never imagined she would, and scenarios, from speed runs to obstacle courses to system failures.
Being a scavenger and being a mechanic are two entirely different things. Scavenging can be done by any hobo out there, which is what she is. Scavenging all day every day just to put a 1/4 of a meal pouch on her plate to get by until tomorrow. And this same girl found the leisure and time to become an elite pilot and master mechanic. And Rey really didn't mean it when she said she had "no idea" how she did all those cool moves with the Millennium Falcon. It feels like Disney magic.Ok, I just re-read your post...you said she wasn't a skilled pilot, which was still false. She was a skilled pilot...she just never piloted the falcon.
How does it not add up? She's a scavenger, and she knows mechanics inside and out. They don't get into her story, the exclusion of her background doesn't mean she had no background.
How is it that it doesn't make sense for her....yet it makes sense that Luke, but a simple farm boy, is a skilled pilot, better than fighter pilots that were actually trained to fight?
Again, you miss the bigger picture, and keep ignoring what's dead in your face. Luke and anakin were natural pilots BECAUSE they were in tune with the force, even though they didn't know it. SAME with Rey. That big eyed alien even tells her that she knows she always felt it.
Just because you don't like it, or it doesn't make sense to you, doesn't make it a plot hole. Lucas had years of making stuff up along the way, and changing things along the way. What you're doing is creating confines to the story based on what you think it should or should not be like.
Being a scavenger and being a mechanic are two entirely different things. One can only be done by a hobo, which is what she is. It feels like Disney magic.
So if you want to know how Rey goes from little orphan Annie to master mechanic/space pilot to penniless hobo, read the books. Because J.J. Abrams and his movie can't fill the holes. Her background skills have already been explained, keep ignoring it.
And yes, she had no idea how she did the crazy manuevering, as it came to her due to her being in touch with the force. The SAME way Luke was able to take down the deathstar with no targeting system AND the same way anakin was able to fly a fighter ship without ever flying a ship before. The same way Luke was able to use force pull even though he was never trained to do so (and not sure if he ever so Obie do it) while being in a compromised situation.
You sir, are under estimating the powers of the force. Do not under estimate the powers of the force.
So if you want to know how Rey goes from little orphan Annie to master mechanic/space pilot to penniless hobo, read the books. Because J.J. Abrams and his movie can't fill the holes.
Luke wasn't in Rey's extremely repressive and restrictive situation. It makes him a little less suspect. And what's sad too is that we got more of a explanation on Luke's skills than we ever got for hers. The same way as Star Wars books had to fill the holes from a new hope. A new hope didn't give us much explanation into lukes experience as a pilot either.
Seeing as Lucas set the stage for force users having innate piloting skills, take it up with him.
And I'm done with the conversation, we're just going in circles. Seeing as you've failed to point out the plot hole using your definition of a plot hole (something that cannot be explained), I've come to realize that you're just trolling me, and I won't go back and forth knowing that.

You do realise a lot of this if not all will get explained in the next film when Luke explains the force to her and why she can do the things she did.
And again.... 0 holes

So if you want to know how Luke goes from little orphan, simple minded, whiny farm boy (uncle owen, this R2 has a bad motivator) to master Xwing pilot besting all of the other trained Xwing pilots, read the books. Because Lucas and his movie can't fill the holes.
So if you want to know how Anakin goes from little poor slave boy to master pilot, shut off your brain, because Lucas can't fill that hole.
So there are plot holes, and you are promising me that they are going to make an entirely new movie to fill them. Whatever the explanation, it is going to be bonkers. Like "kid Anakin flying a Naboo fighter" bonkers. You do realise a lot of this if not all will get explained in the next film when Luke explains the force to her and why she can do the things she did.

So people who have issues with the movie are trolls now? I see the T word being thrown around.Same bs in the gaming sections some of you take entertainment way 2 serious.
My finger isn't pointed at just one.
I liked it but The movie isn't without flaws and people need to respect the criticisms it gets and for somebody to try and say it didn't have a bunch of holes that need filling or silly things like actors*cough* actresses that shouldn't be able to do certain things the way they did is a blind fanboy of the movie.(UNLESS they explain these things in a future movie)
