Official Thread Star Wars Battlefront 2

I woulda loved to have it just play out as a tale from the dark side.

Thats to imply the empire is the dark side and not the only light in the galaxy.
Palpatine did nothing wrong. Alderaan had it coming.

Only played a little bit so far, the single player campaign blows. The vehicular missions are pretty cool, however, the boots on the ground lvls are just not fun. I'm also bummed the story took the usual redemption route, I woulda loved to have it just play out as a tale from the dark side.
That sucks to hear. I thought they weren't going to do that....

I figured they would but they do it so quickly that it makes the whole build up to what the story was said to be seem a bit misleading. It's sad that theses MP games get story modes that are so short, there could have been something really good here but they seemed to take the easy way out IMO.

Yeah. If you had the chance to kill baby Hitler, wouldn't you? If a few billion had to die to make it happen, in a galaxy of quadrillions, that's a sacrifice that I'm willing to let someone else make for me.

Single player DLC is coming maybe they couldn't finish the sp in time for the deadline.

Or maybe, and hear me out, maybe they thought they could get people to part with more money by giving more single player content to fill out the expectedly short campaign?

Probably not though. I mean EA aren’t known for bad consumer business practice are they?

...Are they?

:hehe:

No, of course not. They used to be shady, but it's not like they'd actually put content on the disc and still make you pay for DLC to unlock like that company behind Mass Effect 3... crap, I can't put my finger on it, I know Bioware used to be independent but now.... well, I'm sure whoever it was, those are the bastards we should be mad at, not EA.

But its going to be free

Normally I would be down with assuming the worst out of EA but its probably held off like this because it related to The Last Jedi in some way just like the MP content that is coming.

I thought the SP was very good gameplay wise. Just short.

I agree the story was a little disappointing.

There's supposed to be stuff around the new movie coming out. There was a graphic posted some time ago. You can go on reddit now and all you see is f*** EA over and over and over and over again.

Electronic Arts' shareholders are running for the hills this month and for good reason.

The company's profitable business model is now at risk after angry gamers revolted over its aggressive in-game moneymaking strategy in "Star Wars Battlefront II."

EA's stock is down 8.5 percent month to date through Tuesday compared with the S&P 500's 2 percent gain, wiping out $3.1 billion of shareholder value. Its competitors Take-Two and Activision Blizzardshares are up 5 percent and 0.7 percent respectively during the same time period.

After EA gave a Dec. quarter sales forecast slightly below Wall Street estimates on Oct. 31, some analysts suspected it was due to the Stars Wars title. The shares fell 4 percent the following day

Thanks for the spoilers, guys.

for real, at least I put mine in the proper tag. buncha fools
Though I did start it by doing that in the first place so oops.

The few posts on the reddit that are actual gameplay always look good, and that always bums me out.
I'll be there eventually, battlefront, but my heart needs time.

It is.

The post release "season" content was announced as coming long before launch. This first one is Last Jedi related, includes multiplayer maps, two heroes (Finn & Phasma), and a single player mission relating to the First Order.

This game is just all kinds of fun. I really like how much of an impact the Heroes/Villains can have on a match. We were losing and after saving all my points to purchase Darth Maul I went on this crazy streak. I broke through Rebel defenses and watched as the rest of my team poured into the base to wipe out the Rebel Scum. It was on Hoth which is fast becoming one of my favorite maps.

Hoth is my favorite too!

I love the look of the Camino map.

The end of the bigger battle is usually a blast. People start spending their points in the last ditch effort to attack/defend the final objective.

Its annoying seeing my team bunch up at a choke point. You don't know how many times I caught myself yelling out to push in and scatter to spread the opposing forces. I think that has a better chance over sitting at the mouth of a hallway/doorway hoping to get some kills but not securing the objective. But since I'm not worried about my K/D I don't mine rushing in.

Yoda is working my nerves. He's too damn small and nimble and he's got a self heal. And every time he kills me I hear his voice saying "defeat me you will not". :smash:

Darkside FTW. :bang:

I'm always amazed at how many people run right up the middle of the map and ignore the flanking points. They just end up being grenade fodder at a choke point, yet there's almost always good flank routes somewhere.

I was worried I’d hate the prequel locations and characters, but they did a pretty good job with them.

What classes are everyone’s favorites to play as?

Its been all Assault class for me. But now that I’m more familiar with how this game works I think I’m ready to put in work on another class. I did try the Heavy for half a match but didn’t really know what I was doing so I ran back to Assault. How’s the Officer class? It seems really handy for securing the objective. I don’t have much interest in the Specialist since that’s a sniper class and I don’t like sniping.

I've played mostly Assault too. With the various guns you can basically fill most roles. I've been working through the A280 challenges to get some unlocks. The scan dart thing is really underrated and is huge when used right.

I played a little Officer. That class is much more situational. If you have a moron squad that runs in 3 different directions, officer isn't much value. Get one that stays together (or where the game is towards the end and everyone is bunched up) it can be a great class. Most people seem to know how to deal with turrets now.

I played a little Heavy in beta but haven't really liked it in the full game. Really comes down to playstyle and situation. It can certainly be good in the right spot with the shield.

I never go sniper/spec. I do just fine with the A280 at range.

Yes, very annoying when I'm dropped into a squad and following them only to see them scatter in different directions. Another thing is sometimes I follow blindly into my death and scream "Its a Trap".

This game makes me so silly. I just can't stop with the Star Wars puns. And when I'm killed by one of the Heroes it usually makes me laugh. Although Leia killed me as Han Solo once where I took it kind of personal.

I'm liking all the classes more that I've used them all more. They all fill a different role.

It is too bad that EA had to go and cheese everyone off so much, because this game is tons of fun.

It is still casual, but not as shallow as BF1.

Since unlocking all the Assault Class weapons I've been messing with the other classes. I'm still not a fan of the Specialist because I don't like sniping. But the other classes are a lot of fun.

Outside the Star Wars theme I think I've figured out why I like this game so much. Its because it gets the feeling of being in a war so well. I really do feel like I'm in this large conflict while playing Galactic Assault and its awesome.

Honestly my favorite map is a prequel map, the Kamino map for Starfighter assault is great and I find it the most visually impressive as well. It's also a good map for galactic assault.

I find I'm mostly playing as heavy or assault in galactic assault but also like playing officer, for Starfighter I tend to go with Bomber and then fighter. I haven't played on all of the maps for GA mode yet though, still haven't played on the wookie planet and I only played a small part of starkiller base.

I do hope we get more Starfighter assault maps though, there aren't enough right now and two of them seem very much the same except for swapping out death star debris for asteroids.

I price-matched the game at Best Buy for $40 and used $25 in rewards certificates to get the game for $15. I am playing the campaign right now and it's very, very average.
