Official Thread The Division v. 2

Completed the campaign solo and started World Tier 1 lastnight. The Black Tusk are no joke that's for sure.
It's nice that you can switch between the 3 specials by returning to the white house so you don't feel like you're missing out on something but the crossbow is so bad ass I don't want to ever put it down. Bolts explode after a short delay.
I have the crossbow fully unlocked. Love it.

I need to start work on the grenade launcher.

I need to start work on the grenade launcher.

I'm working on the sniper. I love when it works (particularly enjoyed the one hit kills on the elite boss of the stronghold in the Arena that used to be run by the Hyenas), although it occasionally seems to miss for no reason I've discovered. I'm through the two missions on WT2 now, but I don't think my gear score will be high enough to run the stronghold yet (I literally finished the second mission, finished looting and had to leave for work like a minute later).

So I've only managed to put in 10 hours since last week because of a hectic schedule, but what a fun few hours!!

The detail in the world is insane and I always end up exploring back alleys and random paths. Graphics are amazing too but the gun play is what reigns supreme here. Loving it.

I'm still finding the whole talent/mod system etc a little confusing but am getting there.

The missions are excellent to I love fighting through these museums and apartments etc. Though I remember from the first game, some of the missions were insanely hard and was so intense going through with friends/randoms, haven't come across any of those yet unless you have to turn up the difficulty.

If you go to the map and go to a stronghold it will tell you what gear score you need to be. Just hit the gearscore and do the stronghold. There really is no point messing around in WT1 - 3...or even WT4 now we have a date for WT5.

Not in the campaign there weren't. The campaign was easy peasy in both.

Strongholds will increase the eifficulty before endgame, and yes, challenge diffculty can be tough and tense.

I meant that I didn't think I had enough gear to get to the minimum for that stronghold (325, I think). I ended up doing a couple of control points and was able to piece together a 326 long enough to get into the Capitol, and then switched into my roughly 308 actual equipment. I haven't gotten a pair of kneepads yet that seem better than the 250 ones with Patience, and I don't really want to try to spend resources to recalibrate since it'll just be a short term thing.

Again, don't worry about if this piece is better or not. Just hit GS and move up the pointless world tiers as fast as possible. When you hit WT4 you can slow up some as WT4 gives you access to decent stuff, like blueprints from checkpoints.

I have to worry enough about GS to open up the stronghold mission, though. I literally could not walk into the Capital stronghold with a 308 GS. When I toggled to the 326 setup, the mission was unlocked, I walked in and once the mission's first waypoint actually triggered I switched back. I wouldn't spend any time on getting gear yet otherwise.

I just said hit GS. That is all you want to do.

I got to WT3. Hopefully I can crack into WT4 tonight.

Woke up at 3am this morning with diarrhea and couldn't get back to sleep. Figured I would rock out to some Division 2. NOPE! Servers down for maintenance (MIKE-01).

Got back on the s***ter.

I hit WT3 last night as well. I might not have much time today, but hopefully tomorrow night I'll hit it.
Got through the invaded missions and between looting control points that were taken over by the AI without my help and looting around some of my untouched SHD caches, I got my GS up to 376, so I can do Roosevelt Island tomorrow and step into endgame.

So I am level 20 still and am just getting slammed solo. I was doing ok, but now there's just so many enemies. I run into multiple armored enemies and simply can't do enough DPS. I guess I need to keep doing side missions and improving my gear. I'm still into blue and mostly purple so I'm sort of stuck using the best I can find. 1-19 was hard but this is just on another level. I used all my grenades and abilities on armored enemies to just have one show up with a flamethrower. One touch and I'm done. :(

Game is fun but sometimes the "spawn right on top of you" mechanic gets a little cheap.

I solo'ed the game all the way to 30 without to much trouble. Sure I died a bit but I got it through it.

I'll do main missions with matchmaking. Then I hop off and run around solo.

I only get into trouble if I get too brave. Sometimes you have to back off and pick a few. Also, fast travel to Control Points and you can pick up items from the Supply Room. They respawn every 24 hours. Makes for getting better items quick.

I think I'm 25 or 26. If you want, this weekend, we can join up.

At some point you'll learn the spawn points. I was also having trouble solo but now that I have a better handle on some of the spawn locations its easier for me to set up a good spot to take cover from while leaving open a fall back position. I'm only at lvl23 and use matchmaking for side missions/main missions but I solo the control points and everything else in the open world. I'm running with the turret/chem launcher and with a LMG/Sniper combo and its worked well for the last level or two.

I've also ran into some really cool dudes from matchmaking. No one seems to use a mic but people will wait for others to tweak their build and then move on to the next activity. Its been really fun running with random players lately. Although I'd like to join a clan on Xbox at some point.

Use the healing chem launcher and double tap the fire button to drop it right at your feet in cover and heal. It recharges really fast and is a life saver.

Solo’ing I like using the 100 round light machine guns and sniper rifles. With the right LMG you can shred the better armored enemies and elites quick.

I use it all the time but lately I'm basically getting two tapped by things. I probably just need to grind some side missions a bit more.

Does anyone use chem launcher with oxide? I use it on the heavies and it takes a good chunk of armor off of them.

I was mostly doing the same - I ran with a regular rifle for most encounters, focusing on pure bullet dmg and lining up headshots, and then an LMG (or occasionally an SMG) for guys who were getting close. I also kept a marksman rifle to open up encounters with a headshot when I had a lot of space and time available.

Other than that, just stay in cover (or move cover to cover) and prioritize. My general rule was to first focus on anyone who was coming up close, and then to prioritize medics (f*** the yellow Black Tusk medic in the invaded mission in the concert hall, incidentally!), then grenadiers and controllers. Unless I'm lining up a headshot kill when they aren't alerted, I tend to try to pick off the reds, then purple and yellow, because usually a few hits can kill the red if the first one or two are headshots, and that reduces the bullets flying back faster.

Weakspots are also the name of the game, especially with grenadiers (though you can also headshot them).

Only other advice I can give is to clear out all the easy red bars first and then hammer on the elites and bosses. Make sure you maintain fire on them and don't give them a chance to recuperate.
For weapons I like to have a large clip assault rifle paired with a DMR in the 250-280 rpm range with high stability and a 4x acog scope. This keeps the reticle bloom small and allows you to maintain a higher rpm.

For full auto rifles and light machine guns stability is the more important stat and accuracy obviously rains supreme for single shot high caliber snipers.

Fun fact - I can usually kill five red bars in one 60 round banana mag.
