Ok, need a little help....I am trying to free a Merchant in distress, he is located north of Hanged Man's Tree & resides right next to the Border Crossing Bandit Camp. I have killed everything that comes near. I have scoured a huge area around the site, yet I still have found no key to free him. Has anybody found this key and freed this Merchant?

The ps4 version has quite a few frame rate issues. Especially in the swamp. I hope they fix it. Given the lacking in draw distance, i wouldn't mind if they bumped the resolution down to 900p. When you have a console with non-upgradeable hardware, that frame rate stability becomes very important.
I tend to agree. They could drop the PS4 version down to 900p and increase visual settings, while improving performance.

I crafted this great sword. Does 260 damage, and I'm all giddy...then I see you have to be a level 13 to use it! :yyell:

... I just got level 5 :(

I can't believe how much they have put into the game's missions. Just a great job of having new, unique experiences. I like you you have to pay close attention to what you are fighting and use the appropriate tactics- ie, specter oil and Yrden for Wraiths. Makes going much easier if you know what to do. I've started using certain tactics even if I don't know their weaknesses yet based on what type of monster they are. Awesome game is awesome :)

They key is on one of the bandit's bodies, I believe.

Was it the one where there are about 4 bandits on horseback as well as guy on ground? Level 10 baddies? That's the one I used my horse and Level 4 Geralt to dominate! You want to free him too.
once freed, he

will set up a merchants shop and sell you military grade items. I haven't gone to him yet though

No, doesn't sound the same. There are about 4 men on the ground, but plenty of bandits come by on horseback. Even so, I have looted all the dead bodies and found no key. I am wondering if it is a bug, surely one of these bandits has to have the key.

Agreed, this game isn't a 1080p game on consoles, I would take 900p any day if it would fix the framerate.

What's weird though Val is that even Dead Rising 3 didn't affect me the way Witcher 3 did as far as dips and technically it was way worse.

I think W3 may have some input lag as well or something.
could be the tv if you have any smooth/auto motion like settings enabled they can cause input lag.

Finished the game, level 34 on normal difficulty, the game started becoming very easy between level 25-30.
My favorite part was the drunk quest, oh that kept me laughing a long time.

Is there a 2nd quest?

Only one after what I saw, not sure if any side quests like this one, but that quest was funny, have not laugh that much on a long time.
I wish there was more, because the characters are sow well made.

This is bad, but I'm so happy to be ignorant with this stuff. The difference in shadows and clarity and resolution is so small to me that I would never notice or appreciate it during gameplay. I certainly haven't been missing it while playing in Xbox. I mean I never go up to a tree and think ahh man there's probably a little more detail on PC.

I tend to agree. They could drop the PS4 version down to 900p and increase visual settings, while improving performance.
Wouldn't that just be counterintuitive? Increasing the visuals only further hurts the frame rate problem that is already problematic.

Finished already, when did you get the game?

I assume you have a crap tonne of Side quests & contracts still to do?

Do you remember which city he goes to? i freed him but i cant remember where he was going and marker doesnt show up in any towns on my map

Yes I skipped some side quests towards the middle of the game, and then most of the contracts, skipped all horse races, and have yet to finish fist fighting.
Have played a lot of late, 10 hours or sow each day, maybe more, now after finishing Witcher 3 I gone take a break from playing for some time.

Not at all. The framerate is very close now and dropping to 900p would offer more headroom to improve graphics as well as performance.

You can still continue to play after finishing main game right?

The frame rate is not very close. Many forest areas of Velen suffer from 24fps consistently. And improving the graphics would only hamper the performance boost provided by the drop to 900p. I'd rather they fix the frame rate over making it pretty.

A quick and painless tweak to the rendering.ini file can help recover a decent chunk of performance. Maybe there is a slight visual difference, if so, I can't see it.

What you do is head to the games directory:
-Bin/config/base/
-Then find rendering.ini
-
go-to line 'HairworksAA level'
-Change the parameter value from 8 to 4 or 2.

I'm using 4 myself and visually I can't see much of a difference, but it's given me enough performance back that my laptop is able to use Hairworks with a locked frame-rate; whereas before it dipped into slide show 18 fps. Also, using rivatuner to lock frame-rate and triple buffering enabled via control panel as opposed to the games vsync and frame capper is giving me a lot smoother performance overall.

Thanks for the sweetfx tip btw, I didn't notice a performance hit at all; looks very cool though.

I think they could do both if they went to 900p. That would would be a significant drop in resolution and would likely give a boost of 8-10 frames if nothing else is touched.

One more tip you might not be aware of.
You can use the preset to take uncompressed high quality screenshots. That is what I've been using. Just tap print screen on your keyboard. You can go into the ini and change the format from png to bmp or vice versa.
