The Xbox Onesie

The cable is frayed on my Duke controller where it goes into the controller due to wrapping the 100' cable around it so many times. I have the S model and have no issues with it. Both of my 360 controllers are fully functional, although the rubber on the sticks are completely smooth. I haven't used the X1 controller enough to test it's reliability so far.

I will say that the Logitech wireless controllers for the original Xbox are the worst and most unreliable controllers I've ever used for nay console. Faulty analog sticks, the triggers detecting input just by breathing on them, etc.

My right thumbstick has started to stray on my Day One X1 controller. I haven't been gaming much lately so I'll wait until Scorpio rather than picking a new one up prior.

Had a right thumbstick drifting issue on 2 so far. Since launch.

That S d-pad was the last fighting game usable d-pad. :really:

Been gaming on Xbox since 2001. Don't recall on OG Xbox but...

Xbox 360 - Owned probably 6 controllers and only one controller had right bumper "sticking" issue. It was annoying enough for me to trade it in :)

Xbox One - Currently have 4 controllers and have owned 6 total (traded in/sold the other 2). No controller issues with buttons or stick drift. I still occasionally get the controller disconnect issue but that is a console issue and not a controller issue from what I understand. Also, only happens on my OG Xbox One and not my Xbox One S. So no real issues with the Xbox One controllers. I play roughly 10 hours a week on avg. I'd guess.

I personally think the 360 controller was slightly better than the Xbox One controller (just in general, not reliability) but not by much and I don't have an Elite so there's that.

Dude buy it at Costco or BB with extended warranty. My roommate's elite controller broke after 500 hours of use and he got his money back because Costco didn't have instock.

Can't remember OG Xbox. Can't say outside of physical abuse that I had any issues. 360 I had a few with drifting issues. Xbox One has been solid.

Let me first say I really don't care all that much for these marketing deals except for the fact that I like to see how a game looks on my console of choice. For example I don't like it how I won't be seeing Battlefront 2 on Scorpio during E3, but it is what it is.

But it's odd how especially this year it seems MS is really passing or missing a lot of these deals and I wonder why.

MS has:

Shadow of War
Assassin's Creed Origins

Sony has:

Fifa
Destiny 2
RDR2
CoD
Battlefront 2

And so on. Yup, Fifa is no longer with MS as marketing deal. And this is pretty big in Europe. Now we could guess why MS is (willingly) passing on these deals so they can put that money on first party projects but the big question is... will they and will we see any results of that during E3?

Microsoft will have NBA 2K this year and Madden.

Also announced 3rd party stuff.

Unless the deal wasn't worth the price in the end for MS? Seems to be fairly split.

They could probably do with at least one big deal.

Not a fan of marketing deals. Spencer has a budget. Right now they need to dedicate that budget to development and marketing their own IPs. Marketing deals that come with extra DLC matter for Destiny and COD but otherwise they are over-rated.

They probably aren't worth the money. Honestly, they have little impact on which platform I choose to play a game on. I'm going to buy Battlefront 2 on the platform it runs best on (for me probably Scorpio). Don't really care who gets the DLC a few weeks early. Destiny is the only game where that comes into play and hopefully they stop with that.

They will probably have a deal on Bioware's new IP

They clearly matter but I don't think anyone can say how much they matter

They impact sales and mindshare but as a gamer, I hated when MS relied on those deals. This sends to a signal to me that they are going to prioritize building up their exclusives and not rely on 3rd party publishers to sell their console.

Phil tweeted a response to that already. He said marketing is important but their focus is on developing the best games they can.

Well it doesn't make much of a difference to me and if its an either or thing than yeah give me new games but its not an either or thing for Sony so shouldn't be for the company with more money.

only thing I hate about play station marketing deals is the cringe worthy ads they put out. The part right at the end. "this is for the players" bull s***.

And fifa is big in Europe, this has to be a blow to MS.

How is it a blow? Literally nobody buys an Xbox or PS for FIFA. It will be in the top ten for both systems like it is every year regardless of marketing deals.

Because they don't matter.

And lol at putting the money into first party. MS are working their exit strategy while building the most profitable part of gaming, services.

That's cynical...and as someone who's primarily gamed on Xbox since OG launched in 2001, it's crossed my mind. E3 will tell a lot. Price of Scorpio alone will tell a lot. If Scorpio is sold for a loss (399), MS is focused on long term. If there are reveals of new, expensive projects, MS is committed long term. If console is priced at $500 or above and there's more air time given to the value of the services and platform (not that they're not important) than new exclusives, then Microsoft is telegraphing that they are no longer interested in being a publisher.

Not sure if serious? Its a huge blow as Fifa is HUGE in euro markets.

No. It isn't. There is absolutely no way that is even remotely true.

And remember, I'm in the market you are talking and playing the game you are talking about.
