You were calling him Sony biased with this comment:

"BS. If this were a Sony deal, you and Hazard would be shouting from the rooftops! "

No?
Thats true. They would be shouting from the rooftops, but i still wouldnt call him a Sony lap dog. I know he favors the 4, which is his business. Again though, I was speaking in general. My apologies if it was taken as I was calling he or Hazard Sony Lap dogs. That was not my intention.

BS. If this were a Sony deal, you and Hazard would be shouting from the rooftops! These consoles need exclusives to differentiate themselves from the other. Thats where things are at now. From a business standpoint, can you blame MS? Who could? And who cares if Sony fanboys are pissed off at the deal. I think its funny. There are whole forums with Sony fanboys frothing at the mouth over this. Thats how you know it makes sense. :D

Seriously? Just stop with your nonsense already, nobody takes you seriously as it is.

I'm saying that this is wrong, no matter who is doing it. Go look at the Destiny threads. I'm pretty pissed at what Sony did by buying up exclusive Strike Missions and MP maps since I would have preferred to play the game on the One. And as I've stated many, many, many, many times in response to your ridiculous accusations about me being a fanboy, I primarily game on the Xbox and have purchased each console at launch. I've also played all but 1 or 2 multiplatform games on the Xbox over the PS.

I own both the PS4 and Xbox One so the impact of this is limited for me, nevertheless it still:

-limits my choice on what platform I can buy the game on.

-uses up precious money and resources that could otherwise be spent creating the next big new IP.

Also, I understand how this is beneficial for Sony and Microsoft....it allows them to quickly create exclusivity with little time, effort, or risk. Nevertheless, what's good for MS or Sony isn't good for gamers.

Sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow your role there, tiger! Ive already apologized. However, Im not talking about Destiny. Im talking about TR. There's nothing wrong about it, and if you think that, you dont understand business. I dont care for your resume of good Samaritan acts on whatever consoles you own either. It baffles me how people with different consoles claim they arent fanboys of one. I cant take THAT seriously. Just sayin..

Brass tacks; this kind of practice is something Sony used to do back in the PS2/Sega days. Its about time MS starts fighting back using Sony's own tactics against them. Im definitely a fan and I hope it continues.

Wow. I thought this was a joke thread, but apparently it id true. Sony is slipping really bad to let this happen. So much for that headstart in the console sales.

Starts? lol

Ok, I apologize for going off on you.

I understand how it makes business sense, at least in the short term. It allows console manufacturers to quickly create exclusivity with little risk.

However, nowadays this is happening with every game in some form or another. When MS and Sony get in bidding wars on exclusive content for every game, not only are they draining their own first party development resources on locking up something that would have otherwise come out on their platform anyways, they are also causing confusion and anger amongst the gaming community and may end up driving people away from their consoles and to PC gaming or mobile devices.

Where is that quote from?
Darrell Gallagher doesn't say it's not timed or it's a genuine exclusive on the tumblr blog.
They say "As you may have seen, we’ve just announced that Rise of the Tomb Raider, coming Holiday 2015, is exclusively on Xbox."

Not sure which exclusive ever actually needed to make it anymore clear. Especially considering the rest of it where he's telling PC/PS fans that there are other options for them this holliday season.

I'm not a Sony fanboy and not pissed. As I have said to you many times before. Don't start with your stupidity.;)

What you said is true, Fanboy will be fanboy. However, for the case of Titan, I think he mostly prefer to play on PS4 because, many games do run better (no matter how little, but when it cost the same, why wouldn't you). Preference to like a product or use a product over others & being a fan-boy of a brand is not actually the same (they do overlap, but not same).

For instance, I am an Iphone owner (very old 3GS), & looking to upgrade to Iphone 6 when it comes later. But I am hardly an Apple fan, & my Iphone is the only Apple product I have. I used to have an Ipod mini which I sold shortly, & that's the amount of Apple product I ever bought. I liked the Iphone product line as it served me well, as my 3GS is still going strong. I am not against Samsung or other brand. In fact I typed this from my Samsung Laptop.

My point is, you can like, or prefer a product, & not be a fanboy. I can totally understand why some people prefer to play more on PS4, and some prefer on X1 (for whatever reasons). That alone doesn't make them fanboy.

just saying. ;)

(no matter how little, but when it cost the same, why wouldn't you).

As small as the difference is, I would look to the controller and what my friends and family are gaming on. A few pixels won't sway me from controller preference or where all my gaming friends are.

Though, I know DLC would sway me. Destiny DLC timed exclusive on the PS4 hasn't swayed me from buying the X1. But let's say the Battlefield 5 came out and had a year DLC exclusive (or even 6 months), I would buy Battlefield 5 for my PS4.

Dear Tomb Raider Community,

As you may have seen, we’ve just announced that Rise of the Tomb Raider, coming Holiday 2015, is exclusively on Xbox. We consider all of you to be the lifeblood of Tomb Raider and the work we do at Crystal. I’d like to give you some insight into this decision, and why we feel this is the very best thing for the Tomb Raider sequel we’re creating at the studio.

Tomb Raider in 2013 was a success due in large part to your continued support. Our goal has always been to deliver something truly special with Rise of the Tomb Raider. Today’s announcement with Microsoft is one step to help us put Tomb Raider on top of action adventure gaming. Our friends at Microsoft have always seen huge potential in Tomb Raider and have believed in our vision since our first unveil with them on their stage at E3 2011. We know they will get behind this game more than any support we have had from them in the past - we believe this will be a step to really forging the Tomb Raider brand as one of the biggest in gaming, with the help, belief and backing of a major partner like Microsoft.

This doesn’t mean that we’re walking away from our fans who only play on PlayStation or on PC. Those are great systems, with great partners, and amazing communities. We have Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris coming to those platforms this December, and Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition is available on PS4.

We know that there are probably many more questions and concerns. Please do send them to us, and we’ll answer to the best of our ability. Meanwhile we’re going all out to try and make something truly special - the most ambitious Tomb Raider game ever built.

Thanks,

Darrell Gallagher
Crystal Dynamics Head of Studios

Sounds like to me that this game isn't coming to PS4... this title will likely be XB1 exclusive.

Like I said, there are reasons why people would play on X1, & you have mentioned some. ;)

Just because you prefer to play on one more than the other, doesn't make you an automatic fanboy of the product brand. That's my point.

I guess TR fans are mad that a franchise that started on the PS is going to have a game exclusive to another platform.

I mean Saturn fans were angry right?

Oh how people have short memories.

Like I said before:
[HASHTAG]#dealwithit[/HASHTAG]

SONY was the first company to start the practice of paying for exclusives.

"Thanks, SONY!!!! SONY fans can write their hate towards them on twitter. Right guys?" *crickets*

Ok, I apologize for going off on you.

I understand how it makes business sense, at least in the short term. It allows console manufacturers to quickly create exclusivity with little risk.

I'm not sure "little" risk is correct. Maybe less, or just securing a sure thing? I also doubt the Money only goes to keeping it away from Sony. That money is used to develop the game, and it sounds more involved by the way the dev talks about it.

Hearing the dev talk, it sounds like MS is giving the game a lot of support, and for a developer that's huge. It's not like the game was already made, and the other versions are being held back.

Don't forget the Dev gets money for development, and they don't have to spend the money required to develop other versions. People look at these things too simply.

I find things like Bloodborne (and Demon Souls which came before Dark Souls) and Gears of War and Mass Effect and Sunset Overdrive to be different.

In this case, MS and Sony helped create, invest in, and launch a new IP that might have otherwise never been made.

In the case of Watch Dogs, Destiny, Tomb Raider and even Titanfall, they simply paid off a company not to release it on the competitor's platform. This hurts people who only own one console and also leads to less original first party content.

And I don't see anybody praising Sony over their exclusive Watch Dogs and Destiny content. Most people were annoyed and this increasingly annoying industry trend.

Ummm...while I don't necessarily disagree with you, Watch Dogs, Destiny, and Titanfall were new IP too. Watch Dogs and Destiny are also being released on the competitor's platforms. If people are upset over exclusive DLC content, then I don't know what to tell them. Most "story driven" DLC content is vanilla anyways and not worth the purchase.

This has been done on both platforms before, with existing IP's that are multiplatform 3rd party. If Sony took the Tomb Raider exclusive this time, the Xbox fans would have to [HASHTAG]#dealwithit[/HASHTAG]

I hope the game turns out to be really really good. I'm guessing MS probably saw enough to convince themselves this would make for an amazing game to buy exclusivity.

Sorry to Sony fans but what goes around..... I felt bad for them but after reading all the moaning i'm glad it's exclusive just to taste those tears. If you really want to play it buy an x1 otherwise stop moaning and deal with it.

It's no biggie...Xbox fans had MGS along with Sony PS fans and then Xbox fans got shafted by not getting MGS4. But now they are getting MGS5. It upsets the applecart but it is what it is.

No doubt the next TR after this one will probably hit both consoles.

Yup...from the horses mouth. In the end, if you want to play the game, get an X1 or play it at a friend/family member's house if they have an Xbox One.

So by reading this thread I'm finding something very confusing; money hatting is bad?

Does anyone here know anything about business?

Is it a true all time forever exclusive though? Is it like Dead Rising 3? That way exclusive? I ask this because on other forums they say you must read some statements carefully and it seems it's an exclusive for 2015. What happens in 2016....could be anything.

This is what i found on other forums

Guess we are getting reports here too that its a timed exclusive. I hate when companies word things like s***.

Spoke to many people here at Xbox press conference on Tomb Raider. Official line is that the game is "exclusive on Xbox for holiday 2015."

And some say 'for' is the keyword here.

What do you guys think?

One thing i do know...i saw some comments on other sites where they say....meh...it's not that TR was that good anyway.....

Lmao. right....it was f***ing awesome.

Not bad IMO just part of business and a way to stay competitive.
Exactly, that's what I meant by my post. I'd laugh if people on here claim that if they were a CEO of a giant company like MS they wouldn't push other companies around by throwing money at them. I know those people wouldn't stay CEO very long.

Not true. I prefer (ever so slightly) the Xbox One due to the controller and online and still do most of my gaming on it. I am more critical of the One than the PS4 because I felt that both the OG Xbox and 360 were fantastic game consoles and that MS made some incredibly stupid mistakes over the past 1+ years with the One. And although I think things are headed in the right direction, their 'games, games, games' barrage isn't as impressive as I had hoped.

I can see it being annoying to gamers. They will get over it though or buy a Xbox One.

It can go all kinds of ways guys...even Spencer is not crystal clear on it. If it's truly 100% exclusive like DR3 is...why not say so? Here:

Asked to clarify the specific terms of the Rise of the Tomb Raider deal, Spencer wouldn't be budged on the "Holiday 2015" line, despite developer Crystal Dynamics suggesting its game won't be coming to PC and PS4.

Neither would the exec comment on the wording, "exclusively on Xbox", which could suggest an Xbox 360 version of the game is also in development.

"We're saying what we said on stage," said Spencer. "In Holiday 2015, Rise of the Tomb Raider will be exclusive to Xbox. That's the comment.

"We had a lot of similar questions around Titanfall and the structure of our deal is a business relationship that's frankly between us and Square Enix. I know Crystal Dynamics has issued a statement and we're going to stand by that. Xbox fans are going to be able to play Tomb Raider next holiday exclusive on Xbox."

Its ok to have a preferred platform or be a fanboy. Its not ok when its taken so seriously as if either Sony or MSFT are targeting you directly. That’s how some are taking it with the comments I’m reading. I mess around and say fck you to this company or that one but the amount of venom coming from some gamers goes well beyond passion and hovers at insanity.
