Watch that digital foundry video. They actually cover that aspect of how the power could be interpreted based on Phil's wording.

In the video Richard says that 10 tf on RDNA2 architecture would be double the power of Xbox One X so by my reckoning the Series X GPU is 2.4 times more powerful.

Yeah I don't agree with 10 but either way it's good to know that it's not only 12TF's but RDNA 2.0

I’m not sure how he came to that number but it’s sure to be more efficient than the previous architecture. He’s estimating around a 20% performance boost.

Vega 64 (12.6 tflops of GCN) is double the power of an Xbox One X. With relatively the same performance the RX 5700 has 8 tflops of RDNA 1. If the Xbox series X really has 12 tflops of RDNA like performance it would perform better than a 2080 Super. Would be nice to have that kind of performance in a $500 console.

That would also include near perfect AI powered 4K upscaling giving developers a lot of flexibility in terms of what they used that extra power for.

2X the X isn't much more powerful.
2X the X RDNA 2 is about 8 (and change) TF's.
12 TF's of RDNA 2.0 is about 3-5 x the X's 6TF's.

Funny you would say that. A lot of PC/Tech Youtubers I subscribe to are under the impression that the Xbox Series X console will be 3x more powerful than a RX 580 (which is the PC equivalent to the Xbox One X console's GPU). That would pretty much screw everybody who bought an RTX 2xxxx or 5700 card. You'd be lucky to get even half the money you spent on those cards on eBay by this time next year.

We seriously know nothing about RNDA 2.0, AMD has not said anything about it other than it will have hardware RT. They are basing this all off of RDNA 1.0's efficiency gains, which was has a 1.25 percent increase in IPC. We won't get a closer idea of how powerful it is until AMD releases those details, also need to know memory bandwidth numbers, CU count, and several other factors. All I know is that MS is undoubtedly sold themselves short by saying "2 times as powerful as One X" but it is obviously more powerful than just 2 times, just how much more powerful we don't know.

Anyone saying 3-5 times more powerful is just making s*** up, including the looney bins here and the tech youtubers.

We need better sources.

It's most definitely at a minimum 3x...
What we don't know is exactly how much more efficient RDNA 2 is over RDNA.

More along the lines of 3X(+?) the 6TF of X=18TF.

How do you even come across those figures with only a 1.25 percent IPC increase in assuming you use RDNA1.0's IPC gains? Anything beyond that is made up BS. AMD has said nothing about RDNA2.0 architecture other than HW RT.

12 Navi TF x 1.25 would be equivalent to 13.25 GCN4.0 (polaris, which is what Xbox One X and PS4 Pro are built on) TF's.

Stop making s*** up, you're literally pulling numbers outta your ass.

Good Job MS!

Sony will be the bad guy if they don't follow suit.

This is why I don't have any 2020 Playstation games preordered, no joke.

I'll just wait and buy the remasters on PS5 if they don't go with this direction.

It really sucks that they're keeping everyone in the dark on all things Playstation because it certainly isn't helping anyone; even legit Insiders absolutely have no clue what Sony's plan is regarding this which just sounds like it's something they're not doing.

Seems MS is quiet on if XSX is more powerful than PS5....
What you say Flynn ?

MS doesn't know and the few that might in the minecraft team are probably being followed around by a Sony lawyer and a Yakuza Sniper.

Going by RDNA vs GCN is about a 45% difference in efficiency which would make about a 2.5-2.7 X jump but this is without adding the fact that it's RDNA 2.0 which we CAN assume is even more efficient than RDNA.
How much is anyones guess true but my safe guess is 3X but it could be higher,up to 5X was a bit much of jump to guess earlier but I am hopeful :)

Good discussion of the specs. He was also the very first person to claim 12 TF last year.
He claims the 12 TF is roughly equivalent to 15+ GCN TFs. If you want the reasoning, watch the vid.

Interesting this old leak from Jan 2019 has resurfaced, and is almost totally spot on so far...still waiting on Lockhart and PS5:

Where are you getting 45% difference in efficiency? you're absolutely delusional, and continue to make s*** up. Just stop.
