The Series S will be laid on its side by most. It kinda looks like a vinyl player to me. And I am a vinyl player geek, so I am pretty stoked by that appearance.

Digital Only and it's 500gb. Lol
I am getting the 825gb Digital Only PS5. I would get a digital only Xbox Series X had they released such a thing. I am and have been so done with disks. I know movies in 4K are a million times better than streaming, but I don't care.

PS5 is even less than 825 and it seems we don't have options.

That would not make any sense for it to be $100 cheaper from the PS5 when they have the same hardware besides the disc player.
Well, the Series X seems to be the same as the PS5, but maxed out at 1440p, for $100 less. I suspect the Series S will be $199 next fall.

That S model is going to get destroyed is ps4 digital comes in at 399.

Not at all. For the enthusiast who care about performance, PS5 and Series X were always the only thing that mattered. This thing is for:
  1. Little Jimmy who doesn't have a 65" Oled in his bedroom
  2. The PS5 gamer who decides to bite at a Series S as a 2nd console in a year or 2
  3. The impulse Christmas purchase for the casual gamer when this thing is $249 or $199 during some Black Friday in the future
  4. The NBA 2K, COD, Fortnite gamer who doesn't value 4K but needs a new console
  5. 2nd console in the same household
In other words, if performance or PS exclusives were your primary driving force behind a console purchase, Series S never mattered. Those enthusiast probably make up 25 to 30% of the total gaming market. Combined with Game Pass, there isn't a better pure value purchase for the gamer not overly interested in 4K or PS exclusives.

Maybe for Black Friday. I wouldn't expect normal price drops for this thing.

They could be willing to take the bigger hit on it for marketing purposes while mostly manufacturing significantly more of the disc version. Its what they did with the PS3 launch.

6. People, like me, who don't care about 4k.

The Xbox launched at $299 in 2001. That's $438 today with inflation. The Xbox 360 without a hard drive or WiFi in 2005 was $299, that's $397 today. The fact you can still step into next gen in 2020 at $299 is absurd. As a second box in the home or a console for kids, this is great value.

Yep this will be a volume mover. Karen will look at this and compare it to the (presumably) more expensive PS5 and Series X and this will be what little Billy gets for Christmas. Plus free 100 games with GP and this is a no brainier to any casual parent.
