Rumor this, rumor that.

For the last 5 years we heard the Xbox One was Microsoft's last console.
This is why people should just shut up and let the chips fall where they may. You end up looking stupid when you open your mouth.

The .1 in the 12.1 TF's is another GPU.

I talked to my buddy online yesterday and asked if he was allowed to respond to the dev comments about Series S. I asked him how much pain the Series S is for development. He said it's no issue. He said not everyone likes everything they have to do in their jobs but devs are getting paid to do this extra optimization work and any claims that games could get held back on the high end are false. If for some reason the memory was not enough long term, it's the Series S version that would pay the price. Not the Series X. Devs are already scaling visual quality both above the Series X and below the Series S. Devs for AAA games are already making 8K games and level of ray tracing neither console can handle. Resolution, the texture detail that go with them and lighting eat more resources than is the GPU/memory gap between the X and S. There are no game design compromises as a result of the target resolutions.

I could have told you that.

Well, most people are still playing at 1080p, including even Steam users. And most TV's today are 1080p, so I can see the XSS appealing to the majority of casuals out there.

As of August 2020:

tbf though thats PC gamers, they tend to use monitors and there is no real point to having 4K monitor when its such small sizes and so close, PC gamers ten to favor frames

True, but you really beleive most console gamers aren't still on 1080P? Virtually none willgame at 1440P. Are we really expecting 4K capable gamers are buying the XSS? Even people who know they will be 4K capable aren't likely to buy the XSS.

Most TVs in homes are still 1080p and 720p though.

Has there ever been 1440P TV?

You don't get it, do you? Whether you plug it into a 4K TV or a 1080p TV it will either upscale to 4K or down sample to 1080p from 1440p. PS4 Pro and Xbox One X already do this on games that run native 1440p and other resolutions, and there is ton of them, especially on PS4 Pro.

No, I wasn't talking about 1440p. I know you guys were. I was just saying that the majority of TVs out there are 1080p and less. The XSS will suffice for them. 1440p looks to be an option for PC gamers.

Yeah, I don't get it. I don't get why it is downsampling from a res nobody uses to a res that most people use and wasting resources pushing twice the pixels just to cater to a 4K crowd who have a native 4K option they are more likely to buy.

Most people aren't going to spend 500 dollars on a console. If you can't understand that, then IDK what to tell you.

I personally have 3 friends who have 4K TV's who already said they are getting the Series S over the X because they don't want to spend 500 dollars on a console.

Most aren't going to spend 300 either.

Sure you do.

Seems common sense but stated from a dev who makes graphics is good reassurance. Honestly couldn't figure out the "holding back" aspect. Now I understand. Some just don't want to do it.
It is common sense. It is just scaled down XSX. It isn't like an X1 with massively inferior hardwar and architecture...which I think people initially thought it would be. I know I did.
