It's fine, they really don't need to do anything... Maybe some fine tuning, for example when I'm in the settings changing things (video, audio etc) and go into a movie or game to check if correctly set up, it doesn't keep in memory where in the settings menu I was before switching to other app/game. It makes it cumbersome to multitask between settings and other.

But generally, it's fine imo.

Looks like Microsoft had a chance at making Marvel games of their own and passed back in 2014.

https://game-news24.com/2022/05/22/...crosoft-refused-to-let-microsoft-open-a-door/

In 2014, Marvel invited Xbox and Sony to develop their games in the universe, but Microsoft refused. Jay Ong, the former vice president of Marvel Games, told the sensational backstory in the pages of Ultimate History of Video Games Volume 2.

Like me, Sony entrusted Insomniac Games with the development of Spider-Man which sold over 20 million copies and became one of the most successful PlayStation exclusives.

In May 2014, Jay Ongs first step was to find out why the box office success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe couldn’t create meaningful revenue for the videogame business.

They needed a long-term investment firm interested in starting a company. The partner had to have strong talent, a commitment to quality, and massive pockets. There were three companies that fit this description. One of them, Nintendo, basically developed their own intellectual rights. I contacted two other companies, Xbox and PlayStation, and told them that we have no big contracts at all. What do you want to do? Microsofts strategy focused on their own intellectual property, so they backed out.

Today was the first time I've seen these specific quotes from someone who worked high up at Marvel Games. The thing you linked has nothing to do with what I posted.
My bad, thought it was the same. Since it was teased at an event such a long time ago and then was dropped by Xbox. I think it was supposed to be like a counter to Sony and DCs mmo…I may be mistaken but wasn’t it being done by the guys who made that hero’s mmo. I forget what it’s called but I think they’re based out of San Diego.

Yeah that was a totally different thing, this was Marvel going to MS, Sony and Nintendo about making Marvel IP games, that MMO was totally different.

I'd say it was a good move to be honest. Other than Spider-Man the Marvel products have been failures.
Well, they kinda need to find something that works. Spider-Man already had a proven formula (gameplay/mechanics/world)… since it’s what, ps1-2 days and activision?

They just need to find devs with a proper footing in games they’ve done and work with a character/IP that would vibe with it/them….?

Well Batman had a proven formula that Gotham Knights is following and the game isn't going down all too well. So, I'm not sure it is as simple as that.

Because of who made them, it's not like the IP don't have a ton of potential it's because other studios just didn't have the talent or budget to do it right. Guardians of the Galaxy was a well done game it just didn't make a lot of money unfortunately, they are also a group a lot of people hadn't even heard of until the movies came out. I think the biggest problem is that some studios have tried to do a quick cheap movie tie in game instead of coming up with their own storyline/universe.

Thor would be great (God of War that can fly) Iron Man, X-men, Hulk the list goes on and on. I do think it's fair to say that in 2014 MS didn't have a studio that they could have had the confidence in to make a high quality Marvel based game. I just hope the people who keep acting as if Sony went and took Spider-Man away from Xbox as if they just continued on with the Activision games will stop saying that in future discussions when a studio is purchased and a traditionally multiplatform series goes exclusive.

It definitely is something you need to invest in, it can't be something done on the cheap.

Obviously because of who made them.

Even now, with all the studios Xbox has bought I don't see one that I would say could make a great Iron Man, Thor, X men game...maybe Ninja Theory with a more melee based X Men. Maybe Arkane could pull of a Deadpool.

I think Xbox would be better off with the Star Wars license where the shooter and RPG experience could really shine. Even Playground Games could make a pod racing game with it.

When it comes to comic based games there is still a lot of money just being left on table so to speak, I still don't know why Marvel and WB Games haven't gotten together to have NRS make a Marvel vs DC fighting game based on the Injustice series gameplay, that would print money and it something they could support with new characters and story modes for a couple of years.

There seems to be a lot of missed opportunities out there with licensed properties in general, you are right I think Star Wars would be a better fit for Xbox to some degree. I would like to see the Coalition do something other than Gears of War, I haven't cared for the ones they've made and while I'm sure a lot of the people working there came over from Epic I'm willing to bet they'd jump at the chance to do something new. If they did a third person star wars game based on Han Solo that had all the humor and likability of the character that could be a huge hit, add co-op with Chewbacca and mix of ground and space combat and I think that could be a big hit. I'd say the same about the Mandalorian but he really has no personality so it may be hard to base an entire game around that character.

What if they replace batman with wolverine or

Knowing now where Microsoft's head was back then, it was probably a really good thing both for them and for Marvel. We all know in hindsight that the Xbox division was in huge flux with Meyerson in charge around that time which ended in several cancelled projects b/c they didn't want to sink money into games. Also, not sure if there is a current good studio match for any of the properties if it was still an open license pool. Generally, I never really enjoy licensed games anyway. Spiderman was the big exception there...I've played about an hour of GotG via Gamepass and it didn't really click with me...I will def revisit though as all I hear is good things.

Spiderman has been around since what? ps2? The newest ones really did extrapolate on the prior done games more than I realized when I looked back on them.
