It bothers me because we have an unfinished game that the minute someone goes "frame rate dips below 30" it turns the internet into a daycare center.I don't care about the performance of a game until I pull it out of a blue or green box. The studio has all the time they need until it goes gold to finish their work.

And this gen it isn't just normal reporting. Frame rate and resolution matter all of a sudden so we must take alpha builds of games, write 14 paragraphs about bad frame rate, and watch the gaming community get stupid.

I also blame people on forums. Everyone should know better than to be worried about an unfinished game's frame rate, but the minute that dude said it dipped below 30 you saw the response.

I don't see anyone acting like babies here after hearing that news. Just simply pondering why the drops even with the boost. Of course we know optimizations are still underway so no one here is putting out any strong reactions yet.

I do think analyzing half finished games is kind of silly. Especially when most games are buttoned up tight in the last couple of months.

If there's a demo, then commenting on resolution and framerate is fair game in a proper context. Meaning stressing that the game is unfinished.

So wth I was playing KI and out of nowhere got booted out of my online match into the time to update screen :( it was update now or play offline option :smash:
They need to fix this fast.

Exactly, it's ridiculous. It seems like they only report on it just to stir up the gaming community. Like you said, when i pull the game out of the box to actually play it then i'll worry about it. Who cares what's going on with a game during development? An update once along the way is good enough. Like we need a status report every couple weeks. Shut up and finish the game.

People need thicker skin . You know life is good when you think video games are worth getting butthurt over

Friday i am going to buy my Xbox One, and while i will go digital mostly, i will also buy some physical copies of games. Ryse for example. But i heard the installation time is damn insanely long. I think i read that here. Has that been fixed by now....or am i in for a loooooooooooong waiting time?

I think it's the huge patch download that makes it worse. The disk shouldn't really take that long to install. If you want to play it straight away disconnect internet before installing or play another game once the patch is downloading in the background if your Internet is slow.

That's just a really weird thing to ponder; considering the vast majority of games drop frames.

Probably cpu related, considering the physics ramp up considerably with all of the crap going on on-screen. Same issue most games have, I wouldn't necessarily assume it's simply a gpu related issue, it could be a number of things and nobody he has the game running on a debug program to really say either way.

I haven't tried the game in a while, but the last time I did, the online portion was literally unplayable. Kept getting error messages when trying to find a game.

Not really weird to ponder at all IMO considering the dev said they are going to use the extra boost to stabilize fps instead of upping the res.

Eh, there are too many things that we don't know about to even have a proper discussion of whether or not the boost or their choice of 900p will make an impact or whether or not a completely locked framerate was absolutely going to happen. Then factor in that we don't know anything about their development; whether or not the boost is in the latest build and to what extent if it is or how old the build in question is. All that before noting, as others have pointed out, it's an unfinished game... there are just too many variables that leads for some rather unfruitful conversation. Knowing about that late development curveball and factoring in the rest, it's just (to me) a weird conversation to even attempt.

Have at it though, I'm not hating on you; just throwing in my pointless responses here and there.

Wasn't trying to start something really. Was just pointing it out because of what I've read previously. Anyways, hopefully they will have straighten out all the edges by the time it releases. I've already preordered so hopefully the drops (if any) won't deter the experience much.

As mentioned it's actually a patch that cause the long wait.

Ryse will prob take a few hours to get ready.

Goddamn. And what if i disconnect my internet, install the game and just play it after the installation is done? Or does it really need that patch to be able to play?

Does that include the digital version ? I would assume he digital version would have any day one patches included already ?

Yeah i'd like to know this too. You'd think in the digital they'd have applied the patch.

I believe you need the patch to play.

Damn. Ah well, then i'll just install it when i am offline, then install patch and while it is installing patch...i actually can play something else? That is damn bad ass! I feel i am going to appreciate those small but damn awesome features a lot when i get my console.

You can play it offline but it might be easier to update after it's installed.

Yeah i think i'll just do that. I mean i always want to be online when i play games, so i can chat with friends. I'll just play some other games while it's busy on the patch.

Which games do you buy with your X1 purchase ?

Well the bundle comes with Fifa 15 and Forza 5, but i don't think i will play them much. Not much of a footy fan and when it comes to racing, give me arcade or Horizon :).
My bro however has a ton of games and all digital, so that's Titanfall, BF4. DR3, PVZ, Wolfenstein, and a few smaller games. We'll be sharing, so i will be able to play all of those. He however did not buy Ryse digitally, he bought a physical copy of that and after he finished it, he sold it. So i will buy Ryse as a physical copy. I cannot wait to see those visuals on my screen. I think i will then wait for games Destiny and Forza Horizon 2. :)

Well since it is a Fifa 15 bundle you will not have to wait long after you get it in your hands. Horizon 2 comes out like a week later.

Happy gaming on Friday. Yeah, the share feature is totally awesome.
You should give the two Metro games a try too, I was surprised how good these games are. Also give FM5 a try, then your drivatar are ready for FH2

GAME ON :-)

Today i finished Alan Wake and i loved it. Great game. And it got me wondering...i recall several mysterious messages from Sam Lake way before the Xbox One reveal and it was about Alan Wake. We all thought it was AW for the new Xbox at that time. Whatever happened to that? Or....unknown?

Don't think i've seen this video before. Sounds like it will be a while before we'll see a new one.

I'm glad to hear you liked Alan Wake. It really is an amazing game. I don't think it'll be long before we get a sequel on the Xbox One. I would hope Microsoft and Remedy know it's high on our wish list.
