Andrew Reiner also writes for Game Informer. His tweets seem like a terrific story but I’m not seeing him go on the record with that story.

I don’t want to pay for a sub I am not going to use. And Phil already said he doesn’t want to shove game pass down our throats and force it on us.I'm not so sure. I wouldn't be surprised to see Xbox announce a very low price. For MS it is all about those subs....ok you might lose 1 or 2 billion on hardware but the services could recoup those losses relatively quickly.
Phil said Scarlett is a year and a half away and even they don’t know how powerful it will be. If MS doesn’t know, devs sure don’t.He can't really because he's not gonna give up the names of those devs.
That being said I wish he hasn't said a thing. We're still a year and a half from launch and this kinda s*** brings nothing to the table to be honest. Especially when he can't and won't give concrete details.
hy would you be forced to do anything?I don’t want to pay for a sub I am not going to use. And Phil already said he doesn’t want to shove game pass down our throats and force it on us.

Sony could go with 399 but you'd still need to buy games which easily would bring it to 400 or more, depending on how many games you get

And these developers, they are working with kits that could be changed at anytime? How's that work?
It is called scaling. That's interesting, he did say that. If you take a look at the next gen thread on ResetEra.... man they all take it as gospel and they claim not much can be done except for a few tweaks here and there. It honestly seems some of them are just talking out of their behinds. With that in mind I don't get Andrew's intentions with leaking that out when specs aren't set in stone yet at all.

The dev kits people have will likely be ballpark systems for the theoreticle power/specs these companies beleive they can hit...but, ghings like clocks speeds, ram amount, etc can be changed. What wont change is the base hardware.
Theoretically yes...but how much I'm not sure.So let's say for example Xbox devkit right now is 10tflops and the PS5's is 11 or 12, MS can just up that? The tricky thing for both of them is it's not like they can look over each other's fences and act on that. However I've had my doubts about that in the past because how did the design of both systems seem so similar? I mean the two different kind of black sides on the top of the consoles.
That is the big thing for Xbox next gen, the exclusives. The hardware should be on par, gamepass is decent, online will be solid, Xcloud good or bad doesn't matter all that much. Both should be beasts. I'm not really worried about the exact specs.
Sony with slightly more power or slightly less power will still create amazing looking games. Scarlet will produce amazing looking games. I just hope the acquired studios create amazing content.

No. Nothing is set in stone yet. And PS5 being more powerful is bulls*** of the highest order. No one knows that information yet.Matt (used to post on GAF, posts now on Era and is mod there and has a good track record of things) implies that with Lockhart gone, it will change the price point of the Anaconda but also the power target to get a more mainstream system.
If course Era being Era automatically sees that as Anaconda absolutely being weaker than PS5 and are already creating gifs of Van Damme punching a Anaconda snake, sigh. Personally I don't like this what Matt implies though. MS was gonna go "all out" with the hardware for the people that want the best visuals and performance on a console, now they are going to lower it all. Of course this doesn't automatically mean it will end up weaker than PS5..... but taking into account what Andrew Reiner but also Colin Moriarty said about what actual developers told them.......
I guess I really should have taken those rumors about Anaconda definitely being more powerful with some salt, but I didn't. Sigh. Of course things can change because we're still 1,5 years from launch, but aren't a lot of specs basically already set in stone once developers are working with it?

Matt said today that taking an "educated guess" he'd give the nod in power to MS, good thing that's all BS of the highest order huh? Seriously though what both companies are targeting may be known but what they actually wind up with won't be known until next year sometime.
Is that really going to help? X1X is significantly more powerful and doesn't seem to have helped much.
All of this is pointless anyway.Microsoft don't give sales figures anymore so we wont really know what is going on.
Good. A dual sku launch is just dumb.
A dual sku launch is not dumb if it means the higher end model can be significantly more powerful.
For example a $400 box that aims for 8TF's with HW Ray Tracing and another 14 TF box with the same features at $600 vs a single sku at 11 TF's for $500.
I'd take that $600 box over any of the others.

It doesn't matter what Matt says. As far as it goes, no one knows s*** until its officially announced.Matt said today that taking an "educated guess" he'd give the nod in power to MS, good thing that's all BS of the highest order huh? Can't believe people are starting this s*** and the consoles are 18 months out. The gaming community can be so petty.
He did? Oh now I kinda want to see the reactions there, lol. Do you have a link to that post or know what page of the thread it is? That thread moves fast.
