Xbox Live subs..

Forcing this business model is anti consumer and it will greatly hurt XB as a brand if they don't change things.

Watch
Why?
MS had done everything under the moon to make things right for the consumer. They want to Phase out Xbox live which is an old model.
Also, we all know there is no such forcing. People have a choice.

Phasing out to a model where you pay more. Changing nothing for me or you doesn't make it ok.

Not everyone wants or needs gamepass. Some people just want to play Fortnite or Call of Duty.

No and that falls in their department to clear this up. However, to pay that much for less is just dumb.

YES I HAVE TO PAY IT IF I WANT TO PLAY MY XB ONLINE!
I am forced or I have a $500 paper weight.
okay, Xbox live hasn't changed their price in over 10 years. They are asking for an extra $1 for the monthly payment and $5 for the 3 months. They are still tons of cards you can buy and get a deal out there.

I think we all knew it was coming and this is not a big deal compared to the price of games that went up to $10 more. That right there is what people should be screaming about.

They are DOUBLING THE PRICE! $60 for 12 to $120 for 12.
This can't be defended and anyone doing so is a sad fanboy.

I’ve always been willing to pay for their quality online service and in 18 years, I’ve had very few issues with the service. At least current 6m and 12m subscribers will renew at their current cost. I have GP anyway at this point.

That said, the increase does seem a bit excessive and really doesn’t make much sense when try to get new adopters to their ecosystem. Fifty dollars is a significant increase in add on cost when new adopters are already paying $500 for the system, possibly another $120 for added storage, and $60 for additional controllers. That’s before assessing whether they’re purchasing games. I know they want people to subscribe to GP, but then they have to be absolutely clear on the messaging around GP as opposed to XBLG. It just seems odd and a bit arbitrary to me.

This is stupid. They need to walk this back like yesterday. They had to know what the sentiment was going to be and if they were smart they should've had Phil release a video with a clear and concise message on this decision instead of dropping the hammer like this. I swear Microsoft shoots themself in the dick constantly. Their messaging sucks!

Yeah. Might have have affected current subs but new ones would have been screwed over big time by that.

The "crying" that caused them to do a 180 which is good for gamers?

Its ok to point out when Microsoft is wrong you know
I am still trying to understand that how is it that at Microsoft when they made that decision, it was okay to go with it unless we miss something.

2 things we are going to find out.
1. Someone is getting fired by Phil to even think this was a good idea
2. Some else happened that we don't know and this came out.

That free to play to pay live was as dumb as Netflix before.

So I bought an Xbox Live 12 mo. code for $60 as sort of a knee-jerk reaction this morning. Turns out that entering a 12 month Live code into Live now gets you a conversion of 4 months of Ultimate... Is that all? So that's $15/mo, which is exactly the same as if I had paid monthly. 😐

Somehow, I don't think anyone at Microsoft will hear this predicament in light of how bad they were going before... I can't imagine what would have happened with $120 doing the 4 month conversion. 🤔

Good they are finally going to remove F2P games from behind the paywall, I do wonder what will change in the future to make up for what they'll be losing from planned revenue increases.

Many xbox fans were still believing that gold was just going to go away and online would be free which was NEVER going to happen no matter what that idiot Jeff Grubb tried to push. Gold brings in more money for them than anything else and without it there would never have been an Xbox One or Series S/X they'd have quit after the 360.

As far as the extra $10 being more than the $60 increase for a year of Gold that only evens out IF you buy 6 full priced 1st party PS5 games a year which most people don't do. We are all going to need to pay more in some way this generation if we want AAA games without a ton of microtransactions, I don't blame MS for wanting to raise the price although I do think doubling the price if you bought two 6 month subs was pretty steep. Gamepass will undoubtedly see a price hike this gen as will GP Ultimate, something will need to pay for the investments they've been making in growing xbox game studios and when that time comes people shouldn't throw a fit about it.
