Hurrah, back on topic, Rollins where are your juicy rumours......

Expect more this week....but not just yet. Except this: Apparently someone from Eurogamer saw Overwatch running on Scorpio at 120 FPS.
Very rumor-y, and I don't put much stock into it....buuut it's something for now.

It's "games, games, games" for the Scorpio moving forward
Published the 11th of Apr 2017 at 11
Last week Microsoft released a whole load of specs for their Project Scorpio, and Xbox marketing head Albert Penello has spoken on Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb's podcast about the console, outlining the plans moving forward.

"Over the coming months and obviously leading up to launch, we'll have more news. More games, of course, that's gonna be the theme of E3," he said (thanks, GamingBolt). "That's gonna be the big thing, games, games, games. Look, I get it, I hear the feedback, I want everybody to know, games. It's coming, that's... today was about the specs, today we told you what the box does, you're gonna see games, we know."

Penello also eased fears that game quality might decrease with a split focus between the Xbox One and Scorpio, saying: "Yeah, I think- I think one of the things I'll just sort of tease is, like, I think one of the things that people wonder about this transition to these... to the two console model is 'am I gonna get two slightly less versions of the game than I would have gotten in the old model where I can just work on one, um, one platform for 10 years?' We have put as much care and craftsmanship and effort and energy into the process for developers as we've put into the product for customers. That's a story that- that will... that I'm excited to, you know, to be able to tell at some point. That means better... it means better games, because the developers are spending time on the content and the quality and not spending time making things work."

Too late tonight. I'll find the article on the morrow. If I'm wrong I'll apologize. If your wrong I want the same.
Lol, if all first party MS games are 4k 60fps, then yes. I'll apologize! I'm not wrong though. Forza Horizon 3 will be the first 30 fps, and the second will probably be Gears. I can see Gears getting to 60 over FH3, though.

The line has always been that Scorpio will run XBOne games @ framerate @ 4k.

Keep this focus Microsoft. Add a bit more diversity and revive those franchises that you have hidden in your vault.

So...is it possible for existing TVs to get upgrades to allow for FreeSync in the future? Or is this something that has to be done at the hardware level?
I'd like to think that a TV could get an update for that. It's not like it's mechanical. Especially since many TV can run different display settings. THe Manufacturer would have to really be interested in getting it in for gamers, though, and they'd probably want to sell you a new TV in order to get that new functionality.

Thanks! Guess I'll keep waiting and researching. At this rate, it'll be 2020 before I decide on a 4K tv. Seems like there's always one more thing to wait for.

doubt it . You would have to have a true 120hrtz input port . My tv for hdmi port 5 is a true 120hrtz port . 1 through 4 are only 60hrtz . However don't expect any game that is outputting true 4K to take advantage of anything higher than 60hrtz . You would have to have one hell of a gpu to output anything higher than 60hrtz for 4K gaming . Now for 1080p the Scorpio certainly could go higher than 60hrtz .

Also that's a good question if main steam tvs will implement AMD's free sync tech . My current gaming monitor that I game is an AMD free sync monitor. so it should work for me. Can't wait to find out .

This is why having competition in the console space is important. Now I'm sure PS5 will have this feature. Not that they wouldn't have thought about adding it on their own.

This move is to force the ps5 to come out

Would anyone be shocked if Sony announces at E3 that they'll have a 12 teraflop machine coming in the future. Lol

I know some gamers don't like this but I love this arms race. I think if MS and Sony trade releasing a box every two years (meaning each focuses on a new machine every 4years) it would be great...rather than releasing at the same time.

SONY: "PS5 COMING SPRING 2025! 12.2TF. THE MOST POWERFUL CONSOLE IN THE WORLD. That's just around the corner -- think about it. Seriously.."

I remember when new consoles came out every 4 years...

Looks like we are going to be hearing from some devs this week about working with Scorpio....probably starting tomorrow.

I like how they are doing this...show the specs, let that sink in....then do a little more, let the devs show their excitement...then drop the games.

I wouldn't be shocked. The Pro feels a little unnecessary.

I think they might, but the problem is it will be least 2 years away, I'd guess 3-4.

It's a brilliant idea.....it's like rolling thunder that indicates a coming storm.....that storm is e3 when Microsoft melts the internet with 4K Youtube vids

NeoGaf is raving about this FreeSync stuff, not really sure how it works, but one comment implied developers could have a target render of 45fps smoothy and be fine, whereas now it needs to be targeted at 30 or 60fps or unlocked because of the refresh rate of TVs.

The advancements for Scorpio keep piling on, and I hear there are more unknowns.

Interesting. Does anyone know if you feel a major difference between a stable 45 FPS and 60?

FreeSync won't do anything for TV's that are out now, maybe in the future.
