Xbox Series X | S Preorder Help/Info Thread

I was wondering why Best Buy took the whole amount of $544. But I guess I wasn't paying attention and used my debit card. Ahhh, no biggie I'd have to pay for it at some point.

I feel a little guilty about this purchase. Its probably because I had "almost" convinced myself to wait. Since pre-ordering I've been checking to see when there will be XSX upgrades for the games coming out this fall and I can't find much in the way of exact dates only "its coming at some point". :really:

It's just an authorization. It will go away in 3 days.

Really? My account has been deducted the amount in question. I figured it was because I used my debit instead of credit card. I don't mind either way, I like knowing its already paid for. I just hope Best Buy doesn't screw me when I go to pick it up and instead get some sort of excuse about why they don't have a console for me.

Oh, I missed the debit part, my bad.

Thanks everyone! That's was really stupidly stressful, but I'm glad BB was staggering orders like that!

Yeah, I did preorder my Quest 2 also from the Oculus store, and they just authorized like $1.99 or something to check that the account worked. Weird to be deducted the full amount, just for them to put it back, then charge it again in less than 2 months.

Should go back in a few days.

Another reason I hesitated on clicking that final purchase button. I get terrible buyer's remorse, and anxiety stopped me from going all in, for some reason it makes more sense in my head to pay it off over time vs all at once even though it's probably better just to get it out of the way.

I'd wait if I were you, some buyers remorse kicking in for me. The biggest game of the year "Cyberpunk" doesn't have an exact date of when they will roll out the patches for these new consoles. I believe if you own any of the mid-gen console upgrades I'd say there is no real pressing need to upgrade further....at least not yet.

Absolutely no reason to upgrade. That's why I was OK with not getting one. Only reason I continued to try and get one is solely because I like new tech. I was easily able to bypass last year's iPhone.

Capital One did the same thing for me. I was sent an authorization later, but it was already declined. I was allowed to process the payment again on BB, and it brought up an authorization window with C1, and went through the text code process properly.
Similar for me with USAA

That’s what I’m doing, talked myself out of it last night. Nothing too exciting at launch and I haven’t even seen any really exciting next gen gameplay. The hype seems to be all feature driven. Add to that I have a giant backlog and I’m good with my Scorpio for now

Yeah I'm still rocking a Day One Xbox One so I am looking to upgrade, but I just think I'm gonna wait until All Access is available. Only game I wanted at launch was Halo Infinite and that's not even happening anymore. I can probably wait to play Cyberpunk as well until I get my hands on a Series X.

Also gives me more time to find the right 4k TV, something I'm planning on doing at Black Friday either way.

I never got past this on best buy:

Due to high demand, this item hasn't been added to your cart. Please wait a few minutes before trying again.

That's when I gave up, then saw some posts around the web seeing people get through and get one ordered. I had to mash the yellow pre-order button about 50 times but it finally went through and I was able to check out with no issues.

That's their default, apparently. You just had to keep clicking until it went through. Strange process, and felt like a slot machine. I think they were only allowing a few at a time. I had it in the cart at one point much earlier, and of course, that didn't count because they initially let too many through at a single time. I struggled to remove it... but if I would have just left it, it sounds like it would have eventually cleared when they opened up more.

It was strange, but somehow worked better than Amazon, who also launched 1 hr late in hopes that it would deter bots, but were out like 4-5 minutes after opening the page.

There MUST be a better way to do this!

XBX and a PS5 2 days apart. What the f*ck am I doing?

Best of both worlds, with no time to play.

I've been feeling guilty about the over $600 I spent today on gaming. The XSX preorder and CD Keys sale of a 12 month PSN sub-card for $31. But you have me beat by a lot.
