Xbox Series X | S Preorder Help/Info Thread

Let's hope many of these were ill-programed bots. That would be sweet, sweet justice!

I bet quite a few. There was a long time where searching Xbox Series X would bring up nothing but old consoles. It was pretty obvious to any human this was not the right thing. The top search result is a renewed console.

Interesting non-mention of more preorders before then, but I would bet that they wouldn't be announced again to avoid another round of chaos.

I think they mean preorders. I'm pretty sure both companies held back a little bit to make sure they don't oversell. They most likely want to be sure how many they can produce in time.

Everyone is sort of expecting another PS5 drop.

Well it says to watch updates from retailers.

Record breaking preorders for Xbox is a good thing and a good way to start gen 9.

Don't get me wrong, I hate how stressful I think that the Bethesda announcement yesterday made my morning/afternoon today, but it was a good business move to roll out preoders on good news. If they can keep manufacturing in high numbers this year, it will already start them off on much better footing than last gen. Then they just have to keep rolling out games at some point. I also predict that this will be the most dual (or more) consoles per household of all generations so far, thanks in part to a $300 option at launch. (which will continue to drop in price thanks to no mag HDD and no optical drive) Plus Fable and a Skyrim sequels won't hurt for swaying Xbox "dabblers", either.

i thought they stopped producing and selling them? When I went on amazon a whiles ago there were only third-party/private sellers selling them at a hefty markup
Not only were they on there but if you searched for Xbox Series X on Amazon the One X was the first result and the real Series X didn't show up for like an hour or more. Going to be some devastated kids on Christmas lol.

Sorry man the whole thing has been a stressful mess.

These companies need to crack down on the bots.
Hard for MS or Sony to do that outside of their own websites. Best Buy, Amazon, etc. need to update their systems and how they handle bots and high traffic. At least Gamestop trade something different.

That's their default, apparently. You just had to keep clicking until it went through. Strange process, and felt like a slot machine. I think they were only allowing a few at a time. I had it in the cart at one point much earlier, and of course, that didn't count because they initially let too many through at a single time. I struggled to remove it... but if I would have just left it, it sounds like it would have eventually cleared when they opened up more.

It was strange, but somehow worked better than Amazon, who also launched 1 hr late in hopes that it would deter bots, but were out like 4-5 minutes after opening the page.

There MUST be a better way to do this!

I gave up completely. I'll just make my mommy stand outside of Walmart all night before it launches to get me one.

Keep an eye on things like IGN Deals on twitter. They just tweeted about PS5 stock coming online, and will be watching for Xbox orders. I turn on the e-mail notification when they tweet.

There's going to be bots who got too many preorders and there's going to be cancellations. I'm sure there's real people who got 2-3 orders in and only want one. I'm sure a lot of people weren't sure if their order would stick and hedged their bets.

Had one in my cart at MS, but it crashed.

That's exactly what kept happening to me. It should be in your order list though so refresh and spam, my friend, refresh and spam! They are only allowing one per customer so it stores the info before the cart process begins,

Credit or debit.
They charge the full immediately.
Amazon and Gamestop usually don't.

Unless it's different because it's a debit card, but you're wrong.

Q: When will I be charged?

A: You will not be charged at the time you place the pre-order. Only when your item ships will your credit card be charged. If you order additional items along with your pre-order, you will be charged for each item as it ships.

Sounds the US pre-order situation was an even bigger s*** show than the one in Europe.

Yeah, you'd think MS would be better, but they weren't. It was more frustrating to think you got one only to lose it. I was down to payment method and thought I was good.

Honestly, Amazon was by far the best experience. The site never crashed for me, and they'd give you an error page at least. For as annoying as this was, at least with them I knew what was going on.

You'd think I'd be excited about this, but honestly the whole thing left be kind of salty.

Have you signed onto the MS Store (not the Xbox one) and checked it? There a is a decent chance that your order is still sitting in a pending state. Thats exactly what happened over here for people who had issues ordering on their regional MS Store.

You're right, it is still there. Interesting. Now I'm not sure if I just keep my Amazon one or try this.

Edit: it isn't really working anyway. It looks like it is there, but won't let me pay.

Sticking with Amazon. Bezos don't fail me now! Been a customer since 1998.

I work with backend systems like this for a living :-) The order is still there because it's linked on your account. The cart purchase is a different system.

In Europe Microsoft linked all retailers to the xbox account because they only allowed one console per xbox account. So matter if you tried Gamestop, PC World, Amazon, or whoever... your account on Microsoft had the order on it. I'm not sure if this was done in the US but it might very well have been. So be wary - if you start having problems with Amazon that is probably why.
