Titanfall 1 as a lifelong exclusive. Sequels undetermined.

Considering TF isn;t out for another 5 months, that means a sequel won't be out for at least a year later.... and that assumes TF 2 does an annual release thing like CoD.

In that time, anything can happen.

I see Zamps response more to do with giving an answer to not irk the always on the edge Sony fans. If Zamps said something more daming, he's get flooded with hate emails and tweets. Just look at that thread with that Wiitcha guy who made a few X1 OS and Ryse tweets saying he liked it. Check out his responses and most of basically call him an ass for liking it.

Sometimes it's better to play it safe. His message can mean TF 2 will come to PS4 down the line. If so, so be it and great for gaming and Respawn expanding their exposure so they can possible make more cash.

I don't see X1 gamers flooding Zamp hating him for that response.

Why would that mean a sequel would come sooner? they obviously made it MP only and cut out the SP, doesn't mean it will be horrible. Anyways, as of now Vince said they have no plans for a sequel, probably going to wait on the reception of the game.
 
exclusive games suck in general :p I am those of us who only own one console have thought that at one time or another. I certainly would like to see the userbase of TF to grow as it looks like a great game. Would love cross platform MP too.

Vince did make it seem like TF2 would go multiplat, but that is if TF does well enough to warrant a sequel, or if MS doesn't throw more money at it to secure exclusivity. Any Sony fan counting on TF2 coming to the PS4 is counting their eggs before they've hatched. Vince said a while ago that they were open to working on the PS4 in the future which lead to all the timed exclusive claims..and we know what happened with that.

No one has ever verified who he works for. There has only been speculation. West's twitter confirmed that it was a a one year exclusive. Him only finding out that it wasn't going to any other platforms recently is what sort of gives that away.

probably because even though games like COD and BF4 have huge online components most people play SP.

I see Vince's twitter adding credence to it being timed exclusive, but I fail to see where he indicates it was only 1 year.

Most people play COD/BF for the SP? I find that hard to believe. DICE even admitted to putting more work into the MP than the SP because MP is the core of the game.

I dont agree Seven. So long have many stated that Microsoft didnt care for exclusives aside from the usual flair and how desperately the 360 needed them. Now that we're getting more exclusives, everyone says its better to go multi platform. Gamers are a fickle and confused lot to be sure.

Nah, I say keep it exclusive. Keep it off of the Ps4 for the duration. Sony groupies don't like it? Tough beans. With Sony's god-like stable of studios they have already, certainly they should be able to create a wanna-be of some type. :D

No surprise there. Titanfall is an Xbox One exclusive like it should be. Respawn Entertainment knows that the One is where the money is this gen.

Yeah, except Respawn had no part in the decision....oops. Microsoft lined them EA pockets and I don't blame them. Good move on their part. I guess this means I will have to buy another Xbox 360 game after all. Will probably have the same resolution as the One version anyway....I kid I kid :laugh:
 
If Respawn was smart they could just make a yearly pass for 40-50$ or something where you get a ton of content each year for next 3-4 years and just make another titanfall game with a new engine down the line... I mean if it gets really popular and has legs I could see that happening. They would make bank on it IMO and probably not cost as much to make a new game every 2 years or we they decide... I honestly think a ton of games will start doing this like Destiny/Division/The Crew(looks like MMO style) etc...

Plus games with tons of micro transactions I think will start happening too eventually just like it has on a ton of PC games... Just matter of time.
 
As good of news as this is for X1, I cannot see TF2 remaining exclusive. If TF ends up like it think it will, it'll potentially be the "next COD". Could you imagine COD being exclusive to one system? Yeah neither could I.
 
While MS fans will gloat that the game won't come to PS4, I'll gloat about playing the best version on pc. :banana:

Even with good Xbox news there is always some bad with it. Did they really make it a deal without Respawn knowing? I would think both Microsoft, EA and Respawn would all be in the same room when the deal went down. Also, I wonder how long it will be before the sequel is made (I'm thinking aroud 1.5 to 2 years). Regardless I was always going to get it on the Xbox One, but I would have felt more better about the deal with Respawn being %100 cool with it.

It goes both ways. C0nsidering a large group of Sony fans act like groupies and think theyre entitled to any great game, plus the way they constantly troll the X1 threads each week,its embarrassing what they do. I'm damn happy those no lifers feel a little pain tonight. Maybe they'll back off for once. Sorry but eh...dont like this news. Buy an X1 or get the game for PC or 360 then. But don't single out a happy userbase for some nice news. Not when a another group of gamers go out of their way to stink up any positive X1 news in general each week. Noone's gonna give you a tissue because youre not happy to see us smile tonight. You act like its a crime aganst humanity that were having a little laugh over this news. Acting abit entilted are we? Don't be like that fanatic bunch that come off bitter. Its just one game,you'll have plenty to play on other platforms.

I have no interest in the game, I just find the implications fascinating. This is obviously not the place to discuss anything other than hysterics however so I'll just look elsewhere.

Granted it was an assumption, but it was based on industry history. Aside from Gears and the original ME there aren't many third party exclusives that last longer than a year and those were MS published. Some are as little as six months and it makes sense at those lengths. The bulk of sales come in the earliest days of a game's release, not one year later.

Well this is no surprise. Big news for MS today and the aftermath is "poor Respawn getting screwed" or "gamers getting screwed thanks to MS moneyhatting!". Does ANYBODY else remember the part where Respawn approached both MS and Sony with the game and MS agreed to meet their demands? That started the whole thing so if you're going to be mad, be mad at Sony for not stepping up then and there ot make sure this never happened in the first place.

And yeah looks like Titanfall sequels will go multiplatform, big whoop. Fact is for probably the next 1.5 to 2 years you'll play Titanfall on only one next-gen console. And don't act like MS is the only one "money hatting" around here either. Sony has a history of it (MSG franchise, FF back in the day) so stop acting like the victims. Christ almighty, Sony has their exclusive games, MS does too and it'll always be that way.

Don't forgot all of EA's other online next-gen games, and all of the free dedicated servers Microsoft is conveniently providing. All of a sudden, those cloud jokes are ringing rather hollow.
