Analyst predicts PS5 in 2018

I see bf1/dice using and talking about it.
Let's see... A 4.2 TF's GPU gaining around 30%(I know it's not double) seems exactly like what we get with bf1 on the Pro. 30% gains with tacked on examples like bf1 is nothing to overlook and who's to say more gains can't be achieved by other devs when they get more time?

I know it's bothering you (2 much) but I never said Scorpio isn't more powerful than Pro.
I don't think it will be that noticeably better,I do think Pro will still put out comparable and sometimes better looking games(not better versions) I do think that 4.2 to 8.4=30%(+?) that devs can work with could help like it does with bf1. Pro and Scorpio are weak one has a paper advantage on the other...one is a generation jump over its weaker predecessor both are mid gen refreshes.

Much you said I won't touch on and don't have a clue what the point is???

Day one for Scorpio but while I wait I play True ultra settings 4k/60+ fps games like Gears 4 on my PC and I realistically expect much less from my Scorpio..regardless of the overhype some have.

I don't buy the 30% gain on BF1, it's a dynamic resolution first of all so when is that number true? At max settings? It doesn't stay there under strain, hence it has issue with the lower resolution.

You were all about the "huge" advantage ps4 had over xb1, now suddenly secret sauce will close the gap. Not happening. PS4 didn't have a better cpu or more RAM and the gap was obvious. You haven't seen what DICE can do with Scorpio, lots of custom chipsets there unlike pro.

Most games have a dip here or there BF1 on the Pro has good enough performance.
Dynamic as in 1440p and higher which=30% added to a 4.2 TF GPU.
Lots of custom chipsets there? Huh?
Pro is custom as well...likely more so due to FP16 but its still weaker than Scorpio.

If 4K is Scorpio's main goal with its setup... expect much of its advantages to be stripped away as they compensate for the lowly 6TF 1080p/1440p made GPU.... Hence advantages over Pro using lower res and higher assets being smaller.

The power jump you are waiting for in a console isn't coming from Scorpio.
10 or more TF's is what's needed in a console box to do 4K across the board.

^^Oh and you don't have to buy what Sony and DICE said but again I say if you take a 4.2 TF GPU and give it a 30% increase it=BF1 running on the Pro.

I still see 0 reason for Sony to move into the PS5 with 4 doing so well.

Yes Scorpio will have the power but it's not catching the PS this gen.

Who is pushing that 8.4 TF crap? and also as long as you qualify it with the 16bit thing it's true but that's not how games are made, in reality it's a 4.2 tf console.

Val is. In case you missed it.

Hell I hope there's truth to it. But like the cloud, we haven't seen results yet.

Sounds like some people are mad that the Scorpio is substantially more powerful than the PS Pro and Scorpio has better games.

Pro's are heavily customized just as much if not more so hence it being able to do 8.4 TF's in FP 16 mode unlike the Scorpio.

This is a reasonable post and the type I'd wish to see more of.

But I would say, let's wait and see what developers do with Scorpio and even Pro as we get deeper into the cycle before setting limitations.

I'm already pretty damn impressed with Pro, and not just from Sony's first party stuff.

The console has been out 6 months and it's not the console the games are developed for first, it will take time and resources to exploit that, still the fact that he qualified it with the 16bit operations makes it true, will we ever see it put fully to use is another story.

Basically what Val said is true and the fact that the other guy keeps insisting that the PS4/Pro are using off of the shelf parts makes it impossible to have a conversation with him.

Now the Pro some how has more power than Scorpio? Is this real life?

Nope it's not but it is the equivalent of an 8tf machine when doing 16bit operations, according to at least one dev most 32bit operations aren't needed but that is still how most games are made. At the end of the day it's just potential, the Pro is for all intents and purposes at 4.2 TF machine while Scorpio is a 6 TF machine, both are going to give devs a lot more wiggle room but since they are anchored to the base consoles we probably won't see their full potential realized.

Yeah it's not going to happen, this is the point where they are making more and more money because of lower costs and there is no way Scorpio is going to turn MS around. Too many people are falling for the "Sony fears Scorpio" BS when in reality it's not a new console generation, it's a mid gen refresh targeted at a specific group of gamers, the X1s will continue to be the better selling console for MS according to Spencer and it hasn't really been able to make a dent in Sony's global lead so far.

Sony also has some really big games coming in the next year with Days Gone, Spider-Man and of course a rebooted God of War. If anything Sony should be feeling confident about the next two years or so, even when selling about twice as many consoles as their main competitor (they haven't hit their saturation point yet) and often times having a price disadvantage (other than year 1) they've maintained their dominance, MS won't catch up even if Scorpio hits it out of the park at this point. I could see them releasing another refresh in 2019/2020 but the more I think about 2018 the more positive I am that it's not going to happen.

Pro is a 4+ and Scorpio is a 6+. They're both capable machines that will produce great looking images, but Scorpio is superior in every way. Any wiggling to attempt to put them on the same level is a fallacy.

I have provided two articles from Mark Cerny regarding the PS4 and PS Pro CPU. Neither of which mentions custom CPU. Both articles Cerny confirms it's a Jaguar. Where are the links and articles from Sony debunking their own engineer?

I haven't seen a single one posted here saying it's a custom CPU.

Given that both the ps4 pro and Scorpio will be tied down to their base models and given diminishing returns of graphics, they will most likely be extremely identical to each other.

Fallacy. Not sure why this is continually repeated. PC games aren't held back. PS4 games weren't held back by the PS3.

Setting limitations? To what? A slightly weaker RX 580 can do or what Pro is capable of like de3d1 been doing?

Odd, the PS Pro isn't held back by the PS4. The PC isn't held back by the PC. Scorpio won't be held back by the Xbox One. I just think that people are mad that Scorpio is 6+ and PS Pro is 4+. People just need to get over it.

PC games are always held back. That's why PC games didn't get a generational leap in visuals for most games until the ps4 released. It's the difference between Arkham Origins and Arkham Knight. Then you have games like Watch Dogs where the PC version got scaled back to match ps4 and Xbox one where coders even found settings disabled internally. Far Cry 3's E3 graphics never made it to the pc version. Crysis 2 had console textures. Witcher 3 has LOD settings locked at console level. And several, several PC games locked at 30fps and 720p.

What I posted is correct and never once did I say Pro was more powerful but I did say Pro can do 8.4 TF's in FP16 mode and Scorpio can't and that's true. I also said I think Pro will have better looking exclusives and this is opinion.
Sony made the 8.4 TF claims and DICE made 30% increase claims that's enough evidence for me but if somebody needed more... BF1 on Pro is all the proof needed.

Sure it is but to a lesser extent as PS4 is closer in power to the Pro.
