Black Panther Movie

IDD but sometimes its not just about the choreography. you could have jet li vs Donnie yen and have the most beautiful martial arts fight ever BUT if shot with bad angles and edited wrong it could be a train wreck THEN you have a basic fight with 2 guys just throwing jabs, nothing else, just jabs and shot well, edited nice with rack focus, slow mo sections, ramped moves, zooming in and out etc and it could look amazing.

i agree about Iron Fist, that show should have had awesome fight scenes and i know the stunt team and they are very good. i spoke to the stunt coordinator about it and he said they had their hands tied. they shot some great stuff and the director wanted to shoot it his way and he didn't understand action so it came out like that.

then onto a show like 'into the badlands' where Deedee (who was Jet Li's stunt double for years and Yuen Woo Pings main action choreographer) and the hong kong team made the action look great with both nice choreo and shot and edited well.
You're absolutely right. The talent on screen have to depend on the ones behind the camera making them look good. I can believe it too, for allit's faults, I got this weird feeling that it wasn't as much a problem with the talent on-screen. I think you need decision makers who understand the kind of action shows like Iron Fist, or at least give more leeway and trust to the stunt team, who know what they're doing on their end. Sometimes you just need to keep the action in the camera, and not get crazy with angles and cuts. Some of the best fight scenes are just letting the fight go from A to B and following the action as smoothly as possible.

I loved this movie. I love the comic book version of African imagery, and it the movie definitely felt within the Marvel universe....probably more than Doctor Strange or Ant Man, imo. I feel that this movie was just totally needed right now, in many ways. Again, loved it! It's a comic book movie. So silly that this is controversial. I really hope that one day we will look back and see how ridiculous we used to be by being offended at nothing but our own shadows. Life is way too short. Love what's there.

Saw it and loved it. Visually, it's the most interesting and original Marvel film. I completely get it now. There really has never been a film like this. It's not just because the superhero is black, but is distinctly African, and the film bleeds those roots. So much of the clothing, backgrounds, visual effects, music, and dialogue just know how to portray the characters, culture, and ideals. It almost makes me mad because I feel like we got a tame version of Asgard, turning Viking Gods into aliens. Where in Black Panther, you see Wakanda's entire belief system in play. Bringing up Blade, Steel, or Blankman is just way off the mark.

My biggest gripe had to be with killing off the main villains in the first film. I'm not a fan of introducing so many characters like that, just to quickly write them off. The final fight with Kilmonger could have been better too. The non-powered fight was actually better. I also feel like Kilmonger could have had more interaction with the Black Panther prior to the fights. It feels like the story never gave them a chance to connect beyond the death of a uncle/father.

I think I will be seeing for a second time as well. Michael B Jordan’s performance alone warrants it.

Yeah, I found myself rooting for his character. I'm hoping Infinity War shakes up the universe and the villains come back.

IMO he’s the best MCU villain to date... the vulture comes in second, everyother one have been forgettable (besides Loki but he’s just a loveable rag doll/punching bag, so I guess he’s third).

Finally watched it, good movie but overrated.

I really liked most of the cast although I think Michael B. Jordan's performance was a bit uneven, in the throne room scene he just seemed too much like he was acting vs being a real person but I really liked everyone else a lot. It was bittersweet finally seeing Angela Bassett in a Marvel movie with white hair, I always wanted her to play Storm in the X-Men movies, she's would have been so much better than Halle Berry and she looked the part, hell she still does.

The special effects were a big let down, maybe it's because I watched it in 4K but a lot of the green screen work was obviously fake, still pretty but VERY fake looking and the actors didn't blend in with it at all much like the Norway scenes in Thor: Ragnarok.

I'd say it's up there some of the better MCU movies but it's not the best, I can think of 7 other movies I liked more (in no particular order) Spider-Man Homecoming, Iron Man, Avengers, Dr. Strange, Thor: Ragnarok, Winter Soldier and Civil War.

You take that back, Halle Berry is, besides my waifu, well yeah, she was aight in the X-men movies, but I kinda feel they really didn’t have much to say for her character as Storm. Maybe when the whole MCU gets rebooted then can basset be storm *crosses fingers*

Of course, even though I really liked the movie, I agree with a lot of those gripes too. Yeah, Michael B. Jordan is too melodramatic for me to appreciate, but when he's playing against/with the amazing Andy Serkis, all of the sudden he steps up his game a bit. Uneven is a good way to put it.

I got all the same feels with Angela Bassett on the screen! She really was/is Storm! Halle Berry is the most overrated actress to ever win an Oscar, IMO, and was also completely mis-cast as Storm. Sorry, karma.

Her and Cyclops become less important as the series went on

It became "Wolverine and friends" instead of X-Men IMO, even the Phoenix story seemed more about him IMO. I can't remember much about the newer younger X-Men other than Magneto taking over the sentinels.

Same with future past. It's kitty in the comics that goes back but they changed it to wolverine

But she was actually very good in the thing she won the Oscar for. Her performances often correlate with the role/writing she plays. Even in her her small role in Last Boy Scout she was good. The X-Men movies were not very good anyway, X-Men2 being the best of the bunch...the newer ones are far better.

You can easily say similar things about Hugh Jackman. He was ok in X-Men 1 & 2, but terrible in the Wolverine Spin off, but excellent in Logan...notice how the quality of the movie overall correlates with his performance? Even with the same character. Not just in comic movies either. In the Prestige he was very good, in Prisoners he was very good.

Halle Berry has really only ever had one good role in a good movie and she won Oscar for it. Says everything really.

Its a lot better than what they have with the new cast and making it all about Jennifer Lawrence. At least Wolverine is actually good in those movies.

I disagree on the Oscar-worthy performance.

Edit: also...The bad Hugh Jackman performances you just mentioned were actually just bad movies. Halle Berry just isn't good. Moreover, she's never felt like Storm... in ANY X-Men movie.

Wanted to buy the UHD yesterday but there is no HDR...? wtf...just 4K without HDR to me is not that different from Blu-Ray so I waited.
