Thanks Andy. I am fighting the one in the arena. Gonna take a break and come back to it with your recommendation. I was frustrated.

Well, knocking down the pillars gets you your weapons, so you still have to kill it I think. The one in the arena you don't actually fight. run around the pillars and get him to charge into them. Once he knocks a few, 3 i think, you get a cut scene and that fight is done.

My experience was totally different if we are thinking of the same thing. You are weaponless to start, maybe luring it to the pillars over and over does it too.Nope. I never killed it with my weapons, playing on the hardest difficulty. It was kicking my ass over and over and I was trying to build some arrows from the pieces you pick up when he hit the third pillar, and BAM!, cut scene... I was a happy camper, let me tell you.

Yeah. The part in the arena. That's the one. There was some pieces lying around you could use for crafting if I remember right. Definitely didn't kill the machine with weapons though.
I'm guessing the third pillar did enough damage to finish off a wounded Behemoth in your game, D-V-ANT. I've looked up some help pages on this fight, and all of them say knock down two pillars to get your ammo back, then finish him off with various weapons. None make mention of knocking the third pillar down as a way to end the fight. I'm thinking that was just coincidental in your game.
Lots of people have trouble with this fight, apparently. I'm thinking that if it was as easy as getting him to ram into a third pillar, that info would be out there, but I don't see it. Instead I see lots of talk about weapon strategies.
Unless I am completely loosing my mind (which I'll admit is a possibility) I am nearly certain I used either no weapons or one or two bombs at the very most. I was about to quit when the cut scene popped.
This world is f***ing huge.
No, I am still taking a break from Horizon for a few days. I might go back at it either tomorrow night or this weekend. I found a video where the guy just used fire arrows and dashed the attacks. I think I can manage what he did in that video:It is, and at the same time, it's not too huge. I thought that just about everything in the game was right-sized -- number of cauldrons, bandit camps, Tallnecks, collectibles, enemies, regions, etc.
Did you make it through that arena fight?

Oh, and I didn't know that I could roll until I saw the video
I like that it has fast travel too. My time is so limited that it has helped me. My goal is to finish the game and then go back and do the side missions as time permits.
I'm like you- walk everywhere. I rarely fast travel as well. I love fully realised worlds. This, Red Dead Redemption, and Assassin's Creed: Unity spring to mind when it comes to games where I take the long route to enjoy the game. Unity was the first game that made me walk at a realistic pace just to soak all the life and tiny detail. Feel a part of the world.Yeah, dodge roll is essential. Better when it's leveled up, but you probably don't have the points to do that.
I walked everywhere, just because I enjoyed the world so much. I don't think I've ever enjoyed just walking around in a world as much as I did in Horizon. Just beautiful...
Anyhow, all my walking led to lots of fighting, which led to more levelling than your typical player, meaning I went into the arena pretty strong. I'm thinking you're relatively weak, since skipping side content and ploughing through the main storyline.
Go with what works, if it's giving you trouble. I'm sure a barrage of fire arrows will do the trick, eventually.
I enjoyed using all the options and fighting as smart as I could, whenever possible (although there were plenty of times I panicked and just did whatever came to mind). Knowing when/how to use what option in your arsenal can be confusing for a while, but once it clicks, it becomes really fun to mix it up. At least that's what I found.
But yeah, go with whatever works at this point. Good luck.
I want to see more effort put in to minimising HUDs, and communicating that data in a less intrusive way.
Oh, I know. I like that they have ready access one-touch for the hud info too. Funny thing about running around the world- I'm level 45 and only headed to Maker's End (level 14, I think)! You know you can go pretty much HUD-less in this game, right? I think I mentioned it earlier, but I'd really recommend that. Makes the world more immersive.

I wonder if you have to get the two new trophies to platinum it now? Just got it in at the buzzer if that is the case.Horizon Zero Dawn Patch 1.30 Adds New Game+, Face Paint Options, Ultra Hard Difficulty, More
As of today, you can download patch 1.30 which includes additional fixes to progression issues which some of you may have encountered. However, it also includes the highly anticipated New Game+ option.
With New Game+ you will be able to relive the adventures of Aloy without losing your character progression and your collected inventory. You won’t be able to progress beyond the level cap of 50, but you can still collect XP during your adventure.
We have also added updated versions of existing weapons and outfits with an extra modification slot at your disposal. These will not come cheap and will set you back some extra shards.
Before embarking on a new quest you can manually adjust the difficulty level to your liking. For players who seek an extra challenge, we are also introducing an ‘Ultra Hard’ difficulty. This new setting will enhance machine senses and behavior and will limit player health regen and other additional smaller tweaks. Players who decide to embark on the Ultra Hard path will not have the option to switch it to a less difficult setting.
New Game+ also comes with two new Trophies and extra unlockable content that gives players the ability to add facepaint or change Aloy’s Focus.

Not sure I'm up for a replay right now. NG+ is a nice addition, and kudos to Guerilla for including it, but I'm not sure I want to replay the game fully levelled. It might be different if there were additional levels to be gained, or alternate paths through the story, but there aren't. I don't think I'd enjoy entering a story like this fully powered up; it doesn't feel right to me, feels "gamey." I think I'd rather start from scratch. Besides, I've got other games to get to first.
I'm not saying that everyone has to agree to get along. It just seems like you're generally abrasive with those that don't agree with you.
As evidenced by you calling me stupid.
Maybe in Binary Land. If the experience completely relied on the dialogue portions, then, yes the valley might actually "ruin" the experience. Good thing it's still better than stuff like ME:A or Fallout in that regard.
There is also the fantastic movement and enemy encounters. The action RPG goodness, the immersive world and atmophere, etc.
One or two less-than-perfect elements do not ruin a game experience. It's just something they can work on.
Nope that's how you read my post doesn't make it true.
I didn't say you were stupid I said "that's stupid". Thanks for proving my point.
Your post came off like it ruined your experience. I took it as such.
