NiOh

Never heard of gameplanet. Good review though.

Yeah the controls were kind of nasty. None of those games save Bloodborne ever held any interest for me. I'll move this to the maybe pile and revisit it when I see it half price.
yeah much is releasing so waiting and getting it for less isn't a bad thing ;)

Target doesn't carry Nioh preorder cards.

My fault. You need to pre-order any upcoming Xbox One / PS4 games by putting $1 on it. Once you do that, you automatically get 30% off of any PS4/X1 game titles. Whatever game you pre-order at Target you also get a $5 gift card.

Example: Pre-order Horizon PS4 for $1, Buy Nioh for $60 = $60 (30% off) = $42 + $1 (the game you pre-order) = $43 w/ $5 Target Giftcard.

Anyone not pre-order the game and want the pre-order DLC? I got extra codes from Best Buy.

Can it be argued NiOh is the best action game in existence?! Ninja Black and Devil May Cry 3 were the best action games in decades but it looks like NiOh tops even the respected NG and Devil May Cry 3. NiOh has a mixtur of 2 quality franchises in one while evolving both formulus and creating it's own identity. The end result is probably the hardest most complex action game in existence.

Can Team Ninja claim the #1 spot as King of action games? Does NiOh top Devil May Cry 3's insane depth?

Looks like the game was massively undershipped? I was trying to grab a copy today at Target for $43, but it was sold out. Same for Bestbuy and Amazon.

NiOh was the top seller on Amazon. But Ithink Team Ninja underestimated how much NiOh would actually sale.

I know when I first pre-ordered from Best Buy they didn't have an in-store option until a couple weeks before release. I checked the shelves and didn't see any so unless they were already sold out by 6PM Tuesday I didn't see any. Right now none showing in stock at any store around. Hopefully it means they've sold out at least and not just severely limited stock.

Not in stock around here at BB either

And its out of stock on Amazon

None here in Madison (Target website), but Milwaukee yes.

Game is great :) Even better then I thought it would be.
I am grinding the Revenants for loot exp etc.
I suggest everyone do the same..I got a Katana with lightning, one with Fire and a Spear with Earth on it..I am lvl 31.
Coop players can get loot! This is HUGE IMO and From needs to take note.

Oh and I didn't know Sony was the publisher...I wonder if they had a hand in it as it borrows heavily from Bloodborne?

Currently sitting at an 87 on Metacritic if anyone cares. I usually don't but for a new game like this and especially knowing Team Ninja's recent stuff, that is pretty good and hopefully means that along with word of mouth gives this game sales so we can get more.

Edit:

Looking at the yellow reviews, which I think are below 70, and one from Washington Post:

"In fact, as someone who has finished most of the “Souls” games I found “Nioh” frustrating much of the time."
"However, lacking as it does the trappings of an interesting in-game world, I found wrestling with its steep learning curve to be little more than drudgery."

And yes most of the review, which is barely a page, spends most of the time giving you a background of the game, telling you the features you can get anywhere, or comparing it to Souls. There's also two comments, which I'd love to partake in but lol creating an account, that either say the game sounds too difficult compared to Souls because of the fighting mechanics (too many options!!!) or that the game isn't as inspired or filled with lore as Souls. I mean I guess a game loosely based on real history including a script by one of Japan's greatest directors isn't very inspired, or the whole lore around Oni.

Just got a voucher from my sister for my birthday last week. Game downloading now.

It's becoming a bit more evident that I need to invest in a PS4. I'm OK with that. Mayyybe, a PC version is in the works.

Think Koei did publishing in Japan. Maybe only a timed exclusive for now and they could publish for PC later on?

All I can say is wow... this a great game! It's come so far from the alpha in terms of controls and movement. I take my hat off to team Ninja. They have a runner for game of the year here.
