Currently sitting at an 87 on Metacritic if anyone cares. I usually don't but for a new game like this and especially knowing Team Ninja's recent stuff, that is pretty good and hopefully means that along with word of mouth gives this game sales so we can get more.
Edit:
Looking at the yellow reviews, which I think are below 70, and one from Washington Post:
"In fact, as someone who has finished most of the “Souls” games I found “Nioh” frustrating much of the time."
"However, lacking as it does the trappings of an interesting in-game world, I found wrestling with its steep learning curve to be little more than drudgery."
And yes most of the review, which is barely a page, spends most of the time giving you a background of the game, telling you the features you can get anywhere, or comparing it to Souls. There's also two comments, which I'd love to partake in but lol creating an account, that either say the game sounds too difficult compared to Souls because of the fighting mechanics (too many options!!!) or that the game isn't as inspired or filled with lore as Souls. I mean I guess a game loosely based on real history including a script by one of Japan's greatest directors isn't very inspired, or the whole lore around Oni.
