Very fun game. Played for just under 3 hours. Probably died 20 times. Made it to the first boss in that tiny room. F*ck the spacing.

Just cleared the first region. The optional duel at the end against the Warrior of the West is easily one of the hardest fights yet. Took me a good few attempts to take him down.

Death count currently at 5. 2 of those from falling lol. One I was trying to eek my way to the edge to get loot and went weeee. Second I was in a fight and backed off. Other three times just being dumb. Oddly enough not against a boss yet. Anyways think I have one more main mission to first region I'm guessing, at least based on how many of those kodama things. Second boss was really cool as well.

Any suggestions of optimising a spear/axe build? I'm level 40 something now. I see some very complex discussions on Reddit about using talismans and such but I've never touched them.

Haven't touched personally. Only used sword and dual sword so far. I've thought about using a spear for when I get surrounded but haven't found the need really, although second main mission location, second sub mission was close. I have a little points into onmyo but just basic stuff right now like talismans for fire, water, etc. I've unlocked the one for lowering enemy attacks as well but haven't tried it yet. I'd have to give up some talismans to have enough points available.

I love the spear. The trip attack is great against human enemies and the swing attack is great against everything in a 10 feet diameter! The axe is decent as well but I find myself usually sticking to the spear and then changing stance if I need to vary my attack. I've just started messing with the sword and I kind of like that was well. I haven't really done anything with talismans or magic but it seems really powerful from reading some suggestions on Reddit.

Love the game. But at times it does feel they do their absolute best to make it as difficult as possible just for the sake of it being difficult (I dunno if you guys know what I mean). Like, I was never this frustrated when playing Dark souls and I barely got frustrated in that game because it was just so well made. It just feels they tried their best to take the (Hardest game) crown from Dark Souls. For real annoys the sh!t out of me.

But I guess I'm new and I need to figure some more things out to make my life easier. Will check out this Sloth thing.

This game is good but its WAY easier than Dark Souls/Bloodborne. Well, maybe not way easier but it is definitely not as hard. Some of the bosses are challening but really only because they've been given one hit kill moves which is a little cheap compared to some of the crazy movesets the Dark Souls bosses have brought to the table over the years.

Sounds like a hard game. Some are saying tougher than Bloodborne or Dark Souls. A hallmark of old school games. Will play it some day soon.

This is the kind of game that has me screaming

"What the f*ck!!??? Bullsh*t!!! That's bullsh*t. Seriously?

I can't believe that sh*t. F*ck that.

Unreal.",

at two in the morning.

That's me on Gears 4 multiplayer.

The game ain't hard, it's the bulls*** that goes with it.

I'm cool with a challenge though, as long as it's not unfair like World at War on Veteran.

People who say that are wrong. It's not as hard as either as those.

All I know is I've never played Dark Souls but played through maybe a couple bosses in Bloodborne. Think I've posted this here before but my issue with Bloodborne wasn't necessarily the difficulty. It was almost that fear, however irrational it may be, of dying. If that makes sense? Maybe my main issue is going through a level and getting all the souls/blood only to lose it fighting a boss. But then on the other hand you might need to grind a bit to level up so how is that different than any other RPG where you die and have to reload.

That said, through the first region of Nioh I don't have those same feelings. I've died a couple times sure but for some reason I don't have that same level of fear of what is lurking around the corner. You can still get wrecked in record time in this game but you always feel like you're still in control somehow. I've fought four bosses now through first region and only died once from all of them combined, which means I've died more from basic enemies lol. And by the way those boss fights were fun as hell.

Haven't had a chance to play in a couple of days but finished the first region including all sub missions and kodama dudes. Nothing going on tomorrow so hoping to make a good dent in the second region.

Some advice. Finish every mission in a region before moving on. You'll need the XP to keep your level up. I'm starting region 4 and I'm just at the recommended character level.

WOW! I read that once you get the sloth talisman it makes every bosses a piece a cake.

That's what I plan on doing. I've only done one twilight mission so far so I should try a few more I suppose. Are those for main missions only do you know?

Not sure if they are main mission stories only. I've only done as well and it was the very first area you land off the ship.
