Which 4K HDR TV are you planning to buy for Scorpio or One s?

Bought mine a week before the Super Bowl. So far I absolutely love it. Best purchase I've ever made.

You and Froz both love that TV. Val isn't a fan based on specs but I keep hearing positive things from those who own it.

I can still find it. Best Buy had it just the other week. Normally I wouldn't sweat it since I'd expect better tech for the same price by the end of the year (since that's just the way tech works) however my only hesitation...in being hesitant...is losing the option for a curved gaming tv. Doesn't look like any other good curved gaming TVs will be available in the same quality/price range.

I am not a fan of bad or worse PQ...I recommend a FALD/Full Array LED or a OLED.
Usually when someone buys something they will say its good to justify the purchase.

Lol, the tv has great PQ. Maybe not as good as a tv that costs twice the price, but it's a great tv with low latency even with HDR on.

Edge Lit and great PQ don't mix and Id question any person or review that says otherwise.

I haven't seen a bad review regarding the picture quality of the tv despite being edge lit. There's obviously something else to the equation. It was rated the gaming TV to buy last year and is still a runner up this year with it's primary knock being difficulty to find. It's doing something else right.

I had a Pioneer 1030k before this Onkyo but for some reason it elevated the blacks so that they were grey. But it could have just been that particular model or unit, they are pretty much the same company now as Pioneer sold their AV business to Onkyo in 2015.

The thing I like about the new LG OLEDs is that they all offer the same PQ, the only thing that differentiates them is the design and soundbara on the more expensive models.

Here's a question, for atmos can I use bookshelf for front speakers? was looking at these bookshelf

Yeah in my case this fall the sony x900e looks like the tv to beat for price/performance with everything I've researched. Does anyone have this set?

Yes those would work, I have Klipsch tower speakers with the pioneer atmos modules on top. They are alright but I'm going to upgrade to the Klipsch ones.

Is PQ or input lag the most important to you?
All of Samsungs 2016 sets are getting hard to find and the 2017 models being worse doesn't help.

I have a buddy who has it..... what size are you looking for?

Do we know if the x1x supports only hdr10 or both dolby vision and hdr10 for games?

There's better option out there but the community for this model is pretty active. Nothing but praise for it so I bought it with my tax refund. Price (65" under $1500), reviews (avs/gaf), and costco (2 years warranty) contribute to my decise and was the right choice for me back then.

Please note I was rocking a Sony Bravia 720p LCD TV set for about 10 years. I thought it was timed for me to get a new TV. I gotta say what a huge noticeable difference for me based on the 4K media content I viewed so far.

Only HDR10 for both Blu-ray 4K and games, at the moment.

On the plus side, Dolby and Microsoft do seem to be a bit chummy lately, so it's possible that they could add the feature in the future.

Don't know if the hardware is finalized but the Xbox one x would need the DV chip in the hardware.

No it won't. We've already had this argument on this forum.

Btw, I finally won the argument when Dolby announced that devices could upgrade, and they specifically stated consoles! I do not want to rehash this argument.

Consoles can DEFINITELY process DV. There shouldn't be any question. The chip was only necessary for devices that cannot process DV on their own. Consoles have nothing but processing power.

From back in February: https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnar...-tv-could-soon-get-dolby-vision/#3aab5df14664

With most people who’ve seen Dolby Vision in action coming away impressed by its impact on picture quality, the technology’s only big issue up to now has been that it’s fairly hard to find. Not least because any AV equipment that wants to offer Dolby Vision has had to integrate special hardware – a relatively costly process that has to be considered right from the start of a product’s development.

This means, in essence, that Dolby Vision could be added to almost any bit of AV kit - games consoles, set top boxes, TVs, Ultra HD Blu-ray players etc - that has enough processing power to handle the software implementation to Dolby’s satisfaction. As Dolby puts it:

“There are implementations that can run Dolby Vision in software, certainly in the console space but also in the TV SoC space. Specifics vary on a case-by-case basis depending on the hardware capability of the silicon in question, but we have development kits for various types of implementations, depending on the application: full hardware, hybrid of software and hardware or [and this is the crucial bit] full software.”

Anyone have this 4K TV or can offer their thoughts? Seems legit to me, been thinking about picking it up. Don't really need a TV bigger than 40 inches as my room is kinda small.

The argument was XBO wasn't getting it and hasn't ;)

Only in your mind.

Me: They are adding Atmos. I don't even think Dolby Vision is available on UHD Blu-ray yet, unless it just came out. They could just as easily add it to the software if there was enough demand. That means it would also be available on the S. Not really a huge feat, imo.

You: Not that easy as it has to have the hardware already.
