This continues the trend of a bias in gaming. Reviewers and gamers will turn a blind eye to bugs, issues, bad parts of a game if they want to love something no matter what. Then turn around and criticize another game when they’re looking for faults no matter how good the game is. This s*** is a joke.

I think you also get the same "cool kids" factor you see with Oscars and movies. A smaller studio putting out a hit is just the "cool" pick, just like some abstract movie nobody sees beats out the big budget flicks.

From the moment this game launched, you could see critics already handing it awards. The story of the smaller studio putting out a hit was just too good to not write.

I still haven't played it, because I know I'm going to buy it and not like it.

Just bought the game... made a custom character but now I'm unsure if I'll get a better experience if I go with an origin character instead?

It doesn't matter. Custom or original , most people would say that it's best to go as a custom character first. This grants you the most narrative freedom and, as mentioned, it lets you enjoy all the fantastic voice acting from your companions. This also gives you a more "outsider" perspective of each of the companion character's personal stories

Not even half the players have left act one.

Only 17% have even finished it.

Cause the game is too GOT DAMN long. Reminds me of people not leaving the Hinterlands in Dragon Age Inquisition. Also the reason why the criticism of the 3rd act never gained any traction. Most people haven't gotten to it and Larian will patch all the rough part out by then.

Which is fine.

But just another flawed GOTY award.

I've only played a tiny bit, but I'm perplexed as to why this game gets all the rave while a game like Disco Elysium barely got mentioned while being a, imo, much more streamlined and better paced game while having a better storyline and gameplay.
But, as said, I'm not far into BG3, so I might be totally wrong.

2 different games. I haven't played DE, so can't speak for it. BG3 won't be for everybody, It's a terrific game for it genre. The environments during combat plus dialog/cutscenes does separate it from similar RPGs.

Don't think it's for everybody. Combat is bit too slow for my liking but I can recognize it's a fantastic game for gamers who like this genre. Also the way they let you go at every situation any way you want is stellar.

I think Larian pushed this game out too fast on xbox. Should not be having game breaking issues like what is being reported on xbox with proper QA.

Finally finished it today, put in over 100 hours and I have to say it's one of the best games I've played in a long time. I know turn based isn't for everyone, hell I usually hate it but didn't mind it here.

The question is, when will you do your 2nd playthrough?

Just about to start up this bad boy, what's the most fun class to play as?
