Not sure if I missed it in the notes, but there's an option to disable crossplay. If only the population were up it would work great.

I'm calling it now, this game will see a No Man's Sky type resurrection.

The last patch is really good. Fixes a lot of bugs and adds a lot of stuff that should have been in launch.

Next step is the map rework. That should make the game flow a lot better. The bad maps are most of what is holding the game back now.

I think not. The biggest reason I disagree is time.

The map changes are going to take too long. We already know that Kaleiodoscope is coming during season 1. That is 1 map and not even day 1 of season one. Too little taking too long.

It will come to Game Pass for sure, but EA haters love to photoshop this stuff. Every day there's a new "game is on sale for 9.99" post somewhere with a link that mysteriously doesn't work.

I honestly don't care if they bring back classes and just keep specialists skins or not. The funny thing though is even if they do that, people who hate the game aren't going to like it anymore than before.

I'm of the minority that classes that limit you to certain guns was a bigger mess. BF V forcing a medic to have a short range SMG only (at launch, I know things changed down the line) was super dumb. It relegated medics to nothing but healing or running and gunning.

Let any class use any gun. Medic with a sniper rifle or a scout with a shotgun Hard locking those roles was less fun for me. Half the people are just going to pick the class with the best gun and never actually do anything but play the game as an FPS.

I learned a long time ago that you can't make people play BF as a pure team game. I'm lucky to find 4 people even attacking the same objective, forget filling class roles.

IMHO, the maps are the biggest problem and the biggest "doesn't feel like BF" cause. The maps are just bad and have no flow. They put the old maps into Portal and people are having fun. It is the maps, not the specialists. The maps are too big and too empty. BF V had some awful maps, and this somehow got worse. Orbital is a perfect example. You just spawn and fight where you are, as there's no real reason to take the time to move only to get a kill or two and then just die and start over.

I'm 100% convinced this game is not dead. Ea/Dice would not have put out so many bug and quality of life fixes out first if they were going to just abandon the game. With Anthem, they stopped patching and only did cosmetics to grab a few more bucks.

Still, obviously it is going to be a long haul. Still no word on even when Season 1 starts. Last word was May or June, but May is probably out. Note that this is a Q4 earnings call so obviously we're not going to see a miracle anytime soon.

I was playing this over the weekend and there's still a good game in here. Hopefully we're getting some map reworks for season 1 at least.

lol. Wasn't the 128 player Breakthrough the mode the community was praising while complaining about 128 player conquest.lol.

Season 1 early june, their relaunch opportunity, and this small update is what proceeds it. *alarm bells*

Yeah honestly they got that backwards. 128 breakthrough was chaos but kind of fun. That was the mode I played the most.

Honestly they should have just eliminated 128 completely and put everyone in 64.

I still see the fact that they are making these kinds of fixes a good sign, but yeah, season 1 is going to be delayed big time. There's no doubt.

They wouldn't be making non critical fixes though if they weren't committed long term. The fact that they aren't just pumping out a season and moving on is a good sign for the game in my opinion.

Fixing the easy stuff doesn't show commitment.

Not really. As is said, season 1 is a soft relaunch. I mean this game is all but dead, if season 1 doesn't get this game going then we will see how committed they really are.

It does though. They are financially obligated to make seasonal content, not fixes. When Anthem launched, there were few fixes, certainly nothing that would be qol. If they didn't care, they'd pump out some cosmetics in a season and end it. The fact that they are fixing things shows they are committed.

2042 isn't dead. They are fixing the maps which is going to be big. Basically, this game will probably be a fall "re-launch" (probably ea/game pass). Considering how thin the fall lineup is, this game should be in a great spot for a comeback. COD is the only other shooter this fall and it will have the same old problems. I know you hate COD more than you hate this. ;)

Dude, game has been out 7 months and they haven't really fixed any major issues. That isn't commitment. Putting a small live service team on this mess isn't commitment. You really telling me you don't find it odd that season 1 is kicking off with all the big issues still to be fixed.

This game is all but dead. Even the big BF content creators barely touch it.

2042 is hitting EA Play in June or July. Most likely June. But the state the game will be in means the player base is likely to shrink quick. 7 months, this game should been fixed by now.

Actually no, I don't hate COD more, the only real issue with COD is SBBM. BF is far worse...it isn't even BF.

Does Season 1 have a firm release date yet besides the ambiguous 'June'?

They are adding classic maps to the main 64 player conquest. I think this will be a good thing as the maps are a big part of the problem.

Still no official date on the season other than "June".

I will re-download the trial and see how it is on classic maps. Caspian Border is a banger. Will these have proper destruction?

Good move this is.

Yeah, this is far better on the older, quality maps, wish they put them all in. Played 4 matches yesterday, 3 on old maps and 1 on hourglass, and the difference was astronomical.

They need to dump the 2042 maps, put all the old BF maps in All Out Warfare 64 player conquest, and then add back the 2042 maps after fixing them.
