Aw, it's not summer?! Oh well.

This banner was up for a while now taken down though.

If the banner simply said "PS4" instead of "PS3," you could argue that this was just a clerical error. However, the fact that the ad mentions a specific name for the remake -Last of Us: Remastered - with a logo makes it all look very official.

re-buy

the game is so good that i'm not disappointed that i played this on ps3 first. looking forward to replaying it in that next-gen hd, also hoping for some 60fps goodness (though unlikely)

Really excited for remastered ps4 version. It was my favorite game on the ps3, cant wait to play the left behind dlc as well. I hope it will come out towards the beginning of summer rather than end of summer though.

Release Date: December 31, 2014 Summer 2014

Nice! $30 worth of DLC packed in? I thought it was going to be $15.

Full 1080p -- good. What was the original, btw, anyone know?

Higher resolution character models and improved shadows/lighting. "Several other gameplay improvements," whatever that means.

I like the in-game commentary from the cast and creative director, too (that wouldn't be Hennig, would it?). I can't imagine listening to that on my first playthrough, though.

Neil Druckman says they're targeting 60 fps:

I'm also surprised to hear ND is doing the work. I figured they'd farm it out.

It already looked really fantastic on ps3, cant wait to see it running on the ps4. Never got into the MP, just enjoyed playing the story multiple times. Was looking forward to trying this on playstation now service when it got up and running but having its own ps4 version is much better.

720p native on the PS3.

Moving our efforts to the PS4 has allowed us to remaster an already phenomenal looking The Last of Us in 1080p with a list of upgrades including higher resolution character models, improved shadows and lighting, upgraded textures, along with even more improvements. We love setting challenging technical hurdles for us when working on each game – and this is no different. We’ve been working hard on The Last of Us Remastered to release a next-gen evolution worthy of the 200+ Game of the Year awards, not to mention the acclaim and expectations of our fans. We will be revealing more detailed information about the upgrades for the PS4 version in the coming months.

We’ve released a ton of additional content since The Last of Us launched in June 2013, including our first ever single player expansion, Left Behind. We’re happy to say that the major content releases will be included with The Last of Us Remastered:

  • Left Behind single player expansion
  • Abandoned Territories multiplayer map pack
  • Reclaimed Territories pack – details will be coming soon on exactly what is included

That cover is amazing. I am glad it's the official one. I wonder when it will release, I am guessing like August or something.

1080p60fps is awesome, that should be the gold standard for all cross-gen ports.

then.. if they are targeting 60fps at this time its likely not happening. i see a tomb raider style frames

Check out this brief trailer for the PS4 version. [mod edit: may include some spoilers.]

I forgot how much Joel sounds like Rick from The Walking Dead.

anyone who hasnt played the game probably should avoid that trailer. it gives away a pretty neat scene

1 minute of blowing itself and then ruining a scene like that. what a silly video!

Last of Us was still selling well back then, so this seems more like them trying not to hurt PS3 sales.

I can understand that but don’t understand the obvious lying about it being in development. As far back as October they refuted the claim of a PS4 port. All they had to do is give the standard “we are exploring the possibility” and be done with it. When a developer or publisher is caught in an blatant lie it ruins their credibility going forward.

Thank you. I was about to watch it, but hesitated because I didn't want a spoiler.

p.s. Wait, "1 minute of blowing itself"? Maybe I should watch it after all. That sounds like it could be interesting.

Really? "Caught in a blatant lie"? Geez, I don't have that reaction at all. I just figure they were trying to keep it a surprise. Ruined by the Turkish fellow, but oh well, I'm glad he let it slip.

They didn’t have to lie to try and keep the secret. Just don’t comment or give a generic response that neither confirms or denies the rumor. In October of last year they say no plans for a PS4 release. Now in April they say the PS4 port started production as soon as the game was done for the PS3 which released in June of last year. Its not the end of the world I’m juts pointing out the obvious inconsistencies of their statements.

90% of the video is showing praising reviews quotes and 10/10 scores, then it cuts to an important scene from the game for 10 seconds. trailer was blatantly mashed together as quick as possible
