Anyone know if there will be official DICE servers and if there are filters in the server browser that will show only DICE servers?

I'm going to make a prediction.

Closer to launch DICE will tell us that the next-gen console versions of Battlefield will not support 64 players. After much analysis of telemetry they will say 32 players are what's best on consoles.

I'd love to be wrong about this, I like to to be so wrong you all ridicule me for years about it, but the lack of anything other than 16v16 being shown so far has me really worried. I've watched 64 player BF4 vids, but every console preview I've read or video I've watched has only had 32 players.

I'm officially worried, BF4 was going to be my day1 purchase. I know it's an over used saying on the internet but if BF4 is not 64 players on the XB/PS, I'm going to cancel my pre-order for my console and wait till next holiday season when there will be more games about for them.

Dice said would support the game better with servers. They said they realized the mistake they made when with drawing nigh on all official EA servers in BF3. As for filters specific to them, doubt it, but simply searching for EA/dice will find them easy enough.

Wonder if those beta tags will be specific to the platform you play on, or if they'll be available on everything tied to your Battlelog account.

No biggie either ways, the tags always seemed a bit pointless to me.

I think there should be filters for EA/DICE servers, doesn't make any sense not to have that option.

Most gamers are not going to go do a physical search for EA/DICE servers. Hell, most of the BF3 console players do quick match thinking the game recognizes their region and automatically places them accordingly but that's not true at all.

Many people take things for granted when it comes to multiplayer online gaming...

Have you ever thought they do it because of lack of space and it isn't final code. You are wrong on this...what in the world makes you think they can't get 64 players on the xbox one/PS4.

Hell, they only did 24 players on PC on the Dice event they threw for all the big Youtubers a few weeks back (the one the vast majority of videos from the last month came from). I guess that means the console versions will be even better than PC!!111!1! ZOMGzorz~!!1!!11!1 Predictionz!!1!!!1111!11!

Or get both. Regardless, at least get one console version. I need teammates who know what they're doing. :bang:

Looking REALLLLLLY good.

I may need to rethink my plan on getting this for PC, and hold off for next gen.
The graphics are no doubt going to be better on the pc but man that looks so fukin smooth.....if they pull that off with 64 players......console players will pee on theirselves.

So a lack of space means there have been zero next gen previews or demos with 64 players, but the internet is awash with videos of 64 player PC matches of the same game.

What in the world makes me think this, that they've not shown a single console 64 player match while they have loads for the PC.

I saw 64 player PC matches as soon as they started showing off the game. The very first gameplay vid I saw was a 64 player PC match on that Shanghai map. As I said I'd love to be wrong, but it's worrying that only 5-6 weeks before the game goes gold they've only showed console games with 50% of the claimed amount of possible players.

They can't get 64 player on this gen cause of the RAM...won't be a problem next gen....you saying they can write better code for PC that ranges from a TITAN to a 9800gtx(<---is that not pound for pound one of the best cards ever) then they can a xbox one and ps4? Your thinking to much.

I'm not talking about 64 player games on this gen, I'm talking about the incoming new hardware. You forget with PC's the graphics are scalable, if you don't have a killer rig, you play on low-medium settings. Console don't do that, you have what you have.

DICE are desperate to unseat CoD as the shooter of choice, 60fps is the holy grail for this, not 64 player games. Frame rate is king in shooters and DICE will chase 60FPS at the expense of player count if that's what they need to do.

There is a reason why 64 player games on next-gen consoles has not been shown, and it's not because of space. The game will go gold in 4-5 weeks. Surely DICE have tested 64 player game by now, so why no footage. All the while revealing hours and hours of PC 64 player games, are PC's that much smaller than consoles these days ?

For a self confessed BF Fanboy you are not that well informed, 64 player PC match videos have been available for months, not weeks.

They have already said 64 players on XB1 and PS4 and that isn't going to change.

Lets just put this silly talk about 64 players to rest shall we

DICE has confirmed that the Xbox 720, PC, and PlayStation 4 versions of Battlefield 4 will feature support for 64-player multiplayer matches.

This is back in June btw...http://www.gamespot.com/news/battle...layer-multiplayer-on-xbox-one-and-ps4-6409614

Not sure why the writer called it Xbox 720, he calls it Xbox One later in the article..maybe he didn't like the name and just called it what he thinks it should have been called? lol

Looks good. Despite it being a YT vid, you can tell the game slows so much smoother.

Funny how DICE/EA downplayed 60 fps for so long, but the second a console BF game achieves 60 fps, they promote it like it's a key point. LOL Make up your mind DICE/EA!

But good to see them aim for 60 fps over higher resolution. I'll take 720p/60fps any day over 1080p/30 fps. It's been claimed the res is somewhere between 720p and 1080p, so that's a bonus. Maybe meet half way to 1080p.

The only COD game I bought because they promoted 60FPS was COD2. Remember reading about it in the Official XBOX Magazine. Thought it sounded pretty cool. Now I buy the COD series because it's a fun series.

I can assure you, if BF4 unseats COD as the game of the generation, or whatever you want to call it, it won't be because it runs at 60FPS.

Can anyone tell me how team play works in the Battlefield games? I know the large scale games are divided up into little 6 or 4 man squads but I don't know how vital strategizing and communicating is in these squads.

I honestly really hope that BF4 does not unseat COD, I do NOT want the COD "community" infecting BF. It's bad enough that a lot of bored COD players waiting on Ghosts picked up BF3 with that humble bundle and totally ruined the experience these last few weeks but to have them move over completely to BF4 would absolutely destroy the much, much, muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch better community that exists there.

A squad that communicates and works together will normally always beat a squad that doesn't. It is important to communicate and work to a plan. Most games where 1 side is steam rolling the other is normally always because they are working together and the others are all running around lone-wolfing. When you have such large maps and multi-seat vehicles working as a team is essential if you want to dominate.

You should either play with friends or join a clan for the best Battlefield experience, although it's not essential as such. We should probably organise a UnionVGF clan. I'm a member of the Eurogamer clan from that gaming news site and forum, we can fill entire teams and all work together, the game becomes so much better when that happens, it's the way forward for Battlefield.

Just imagine 32 people all working towards the same goal against an unorganised rabble, all the classes being utilised, helo's and jets strafing, tanks covering the infantry and vehicles ferrying people to the Schwerpunkt. It's an amazing thing to see and be a part of.

Well you're going to be happy because you are wrong .

EA Dice :

Conquest (playable in beta)
Combat type: The definitive Battlefield mode - All-out vehicle warfare mixed with intense infantry action across land, air and sea
Designed for: 24 players (X360, PS3) / 64 players (Xbox One, PS4, PC)
Commander mode: Optional

Not bad. Going by what we have seen from the maps. They all look good except for Locker. So not a bad amount of maps to start off with.

Game modes, Meh. There might be 7 but only 2 really interest me, Conquest & Obliteration. Maybe some Rush too.

It sucks that the open BETA starts 2 days after GTA online goes live. Given the limited time of the BETA it means it will have to be the primary focus.

Just reinforcing a little more :D
