PS5 clock bs exposed

To be fair, when I posted that tweet I did a little research myself and posted it underneath where Cerny said they were using set profiles in the dev kit but smartshift would take advantage of the full power on release. Red also says devs were using set profiles but the updated dev kits have since been updated to take advantage of smartshift. I also found his explanation a little confusing as he was talking about voltage rather than ghz where the supposed leaked profile was showing the CPU and GPU were set ghz for devs.

Cerny said 10% drop in power usage= a couple percent drop in performance which still has the PS5 @10 TF's.

Gamespass drops a lot of unique and fun little games as well as games you might be on the fence about and games from different genres you might not otherwise play, I find it funny people arguing about value when you pay a paltry sum and get access to a ton of games, of course it's subjective as you may not want to play other games and stick to the big guns, but I know I'll never look back from GP.

Sony has zero credibility after they misled gamers over their next gen plans. Any hardware claims should be backed up by neutral observers who have access to the hardware instead of taking them at their word.

We have known for a long time you can't play PS5 games from the external drive why is anyone making this out to be a surprise? you can't play XSS/XSX games from any plain external drive either it has to be their proprietary one because the games are made to use the SSD's. Sony's SSD has a lot of custom work/hardware involved so it would be impossible to just plug in and play a PS5 game from any random SSD. You can replace the internal one with one they've tested and approved but you'll likely need one that's going to be faster than the one included with the drive to help make up for some of the differences in design. You can play PS4 games from the external drives but not PS5, that has been known for months.

Wrong the proper external would let you play PS5 games.
Possible issue is no external ATM supports the PS5 specs.

I don't think we'll ever get to play PS5 games from an external SSD, I think if you want to expand the storage you play PS5 games from you'll have to do it by replacing the internal drive and as we saw with the post last week those are going to be very expensive, the one that I believe Evo posted wasn't even fast enough and a 2TB drive was over $300 if I remember correctly. We can play PS4 games on the PS5 from external drives (or internal to take advantage of faster loading etc) but PS5 games will likely always have to be on an internal drive.

wait, we’re supposed to replace it instead of adding another internal ssd?

wonder if that location is a problem for heat, is that why we need to replace it instead?

You replace it just like you do the internal PS4 HDD, you'll be able to remove it and add a larger one, just make sure it's one Sony has tested and approved first.

still find it weird it’s not an “in addition to” the existing one, hope they give us a storage case with proper shielding

There will be a compartment the SSD will be saddled into inside of the console to which you will have access to from the outside. Every PlayStation console except for the original PlayStation adopts this method. An "in addition to" would simply make it proprietary, which are generally more expensive and limited.

I think i said that wrong. It won't be like a memory card that sticks out of the console.

I don't even know why Sony paid for FF16 exclusivity timed or not, most of the people who are big fans of that series are already PlayStation customers, yeah there is some crossover but it's not worth spending tens to hundreds of millions of dollars just to keep it from another platform when the majority of people buying it are already in your ecosystem and you would get the game regardless of xbox getting it or not.

Richard from DF says every dev he's spoken to says the PS5 is extremely happy with the PS5 and that developing for it is very easy and is basically like developing for the PS4 and then scaling up. He's heard from devs that are working on xbox that some like it a lot and others are having problems with it because their dev tools are more general purpose to include PC and xbox one development so it's not as easy to work with. The discussion is fairly short and starts towards the end of the video, around 38:40

Not sure if anyone else already covered this but Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition won't have ray tracing at launch on the Series X it'll be added later with a patch but it will be available on the PS5 version day one.

Ray tracing features will be available upon release for the PlayStation 5 version, and will be added to the Xbox Series X version in a downloadable patch post release.

Video showing what RT does for the game, if someone already posted all of this I apologize. Can do RT at 4K/30fps or 1080p/60fps or turn off RT and play at 120fps

no worries, but I did see the slot is at the bottom of the ps5.

I just thought you’d be able to retain the ssd that came with the console in side the console itself and just add another one to add to it, not replace. Like just find a 1tb ssd that’s approved by Sony and just slap it in so I’d have 1.825 tbs instead of just swapping it out.

How much are ssd drives that are equal to or faster than Sony’s custom one?
