I wonder if they are both worried about how many consoles they can manufacture and are keeping preorder numbers low. I can't imagine there's this much demand for new consoles, especially since there's mid-gen options out there.

One thing that would add up is if the overall numbers are low that they are making available for preorder. Hopefully they will add more as they get a better handle on stock.

That, combined with all the bots makes for a mess of a launch. I think they need to go back to having people put money down on consoles too, just to weed out the bots.

I can tell you that COVID is STILL limiting things. At least in the US.

Yeah and someone mentioned in the Xbox thread that people can't go order in person, so everything went online which is unusual. If not for covid, I bet a lot of people would have just gone to their local store instead of hammering online sites.

My company, Hilton, is still only at 40% of workforce worldwide. We are not alone.

I really hope they don't buy any other publishers, it'd be terrible for the industry to start seeing consolidation like this all to one platform holder, especially one that's in perpetual 3rd place and is just trying to take over because they have the money to spend vs winning the consumers over.

true, but that’s how you win some consumers, offering one spot to get it from...ask Elon Musk

Fixed that for you.

Been saying this was a issue all along.

Casuals will be confused by the terrible naming scheme.

Apple and Samsung have household brand names so can afford to do this.

hut how does one get confused when you type “Xbox” into amazon or bestbuy the auto fill is a list for Xbox series x and the first two are for preorders?

they don’t even officially sell it any more...

Just for the hell of it I typed in Xbox Series X in the search a little after 8:00 am on Amazon and it brought up Xbox One X, I'm guessing some people thought that was it. I'm sure the actual number of people who ordered them isn't all that high as it hasn't been selling well since it was discontinued so a 700% increase probably isn't all that many people but just seeing that percentage was funny, goes well with this lol.

I get the idea behind what they are doing and the core gamers shouldn't get confused but the casuals and stressed out parents who are trying to get a gift for their kids for Christmas could be another story. They shouldn't be seeing One X consoles on store shelves by then but the One S will still be there.

Well when they don't sell... they will be on the shelves.

Microsoft was smart enough to stop production on the Xbox One X, but not smart enough to not use a confusing name. I wouldn't be surprised if there ends up being a class action brought up against them, just knowing how people are.

So now we're back to criticize the naming... lol

There is no reason for all those people to buy an Xbox One X now. They are obviously confused.

I do find the confusion a little silly, I know the names are pretty similar, but I don't know about you guys I at least do a bit of research before dropping hundreds on anything.
