The only meaningful thing I got from this is mile morales Spider-man is 7 hours. I have to double-check & its 7 hours main, 11 hours with side quest.

WOW, they are charging almost a full game price for a 7-11 (punch not intended) game.....& no journalists mention this!!!

It's just an dlc sold as a full game....

People should be a surprise? Putting a cap, or charging by bandwidth (which to be fair, is fair) is expected as download/upload size ballooned so ,mauch in the past few years.

A crazy idea is, could physical copies make a comeback & actually cost less

The whole Spider-Man thing is anti consumer.

Yeah I beat it in about 8-9 hours so sounds right. Bit overpriced imo , it would be better if it shaved another 10-15$ off. It's 64.99 CAD up here so $49.99 CAD would seem like a more appropriate price.

If it was MS trying to do anything like this, they would be all over it.

Don't forget that they are selling a Spider Man next gen upgrade on top of it. You end up spending $50 for just the Miles game, you may as well get the remastered Spider Man for $20 more.

Could you imagine if MS remastered Halo 5 for XSX and threw on a small expansion and charged for it?

This is the author speaking:

Microsoft may have been beating its chest about 12 teraflops and the “world’s most powerful console,” but that hasn’t materialized yet. Despite this, I understand Microsoft is still quietly confident that bigger and more obvious performance gains will appear on Xbox over time, thanks to full RDNA2 support and its maturing developer tools.

What i find hilarious about these pieces is how the fanboys latch onto them as if it were going to make some significant difference not taking into consideration that the tools on the competing system will also improve over time.

It might be wise to also wait and see what these FULL RDNA2 features will look like in games before beating chests over it. It might be a whole lot of nothing or it could show. Time will tell.

I don't think physical ever left. The majority of PS5's sold so far are physical. I believe the number is like 10-15% digital ?

You have no idea what you are talking about.

The PS5 also has RDNA 2 but it's custom. Essentially, it's like saying the Series X has all Dewalt tools and the PS5 has some of those tools with others being replaced with Black & Decker tools. It's marketing and fanboys are eating it up hoping for some significant gap between the two systems.

XSX/RDNA2 focuses on mesh shaders while PS5’s architecture optimizes primitive shaders. Both consoles can do both though. If game engines move to using mesh shaders more and more then that will be where the longer performance tail of the XSX will show. That’s my limited understanding of it.

TLDR; pretty much at parity apart from PS5'S 44% advantage in loading times. So it seems the PS5 does raytracing just fine in contrast to what people thought. I mean Spiderman already cemented that fact but nice to see a multiplatform also having no issues.

RT reflections are absolutely identical on both.

Anysotropic Filtering: PS5 > XSX >>> XSS. Alex supposes this is a bug since there's nothing about it in the games' config files.

Puddles are missing in reflections on PS5. Alex supposes this is a bug since there's nothing about it in the games' config files.

Other than that the game looks identical. Loading times are PS5 > XSX/XSS, 18 secs on PS5 and 26 on XS.

Performance is perfect with no version ever dropping a single frame.

Looks like Ubisoft will be patching Watchdogs as well to bring up the performance on the Series X/S.

Nothing much to patch except for the AF bug on Xbox Series and the puddles bug on PS5 . I am more interested in the hidden 60 fps config that DF found. After playing Spiderman in 60 fps, 30fps looks like an eyesore.

They can patch it to take better advantage of Series X performance as well as load times.

There's no performance drop for either version. So what performance improvement are you talking about?

Yeah I don't expect much for the load times. Kind of expected more since Spiderman has 1-2 seconds loading times but that's because Insomniac took full advantage of the SSD in the PS5. It's obvious Ubisoft isn't taking full advantage here.

Xss gimped at this point, hoping it'll catch up more when devs take advantage of the rdna2 features, seems like they still work in old environments? Ubisoft did say they needed to look over how they make open world games on next gen.

XSS and XSX share the same dev tools so they will most likely optimize at the XSS level and just have higher settings for the XSX. This will continue for the rest of the generation.

Ubisoft just announced that their patch for AC is improving load times. So anything is possible.

We are seeing 1-2 second load times in first party games on Xbox as well, so I think third party will never be able to take full advantage of the ssds.

The engineers at MS already said they build at the top and port down. They start with PC/Series X. That will continue for the rest of the generation.

I think XSS is a mistake. MS should have gone with a digital version but with all the power, at 399€.

I'll take your word for it. That's for all games or just exclusives?
