Until games are out & critically acclaimed consistently like Sony exclusives, you cannot blame people for being skeptical. The last-gen left a very sour taste for XBOX brand for many gamers & it takes a lot to win back trust, let alone $.

No doubt that MS needs to pump out more AAA exclusives. But the ones they do have I enjoy more, on average, than the ones we get on PS. But I am glad I enjoy playing them on both systems.

I don't even care if they're critically acclaimed. Some of my most favorite games were critically panned.

Same here.

  • Oure (53 metacritic)
  • Crackdown 3 (60 metacritic)
  • SOCOM 4 (67 metacritic)
A few examples of some of my all time favorites.

Said it for years. I will never understand people who let others decide if they get something or not. That goes for games, movies, TV shows, music.. whatever.

And yeah could list lots of low scoring games I've enjoyed and probably even more highly rated games I've got bored of and left unfinished.

The Xbox got no games meme is strong for a reason.
Game wise "THUS" far XSX is off to a even worse start than last gens xbo.

The difference is the hardware, bells & whistles(improved BC) plus the hope of the acquisitions producing is on the plus side.

Critically acclaimed games aren’t always big sellers and cos of that we’ve lost studios on both platforms…Japan studio and Team Ico 😭*pours two out for they left us too soon

AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution to Have “Massive Impact” on 4K Gaming for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 – Dev

According to Dead Drop Studios’ Evan Wolbach, who developed the recently released Outbreak: Endless Nightmares, Super Resolution will have “a massive impact.” That’s because even on the current-gen consoles, hitting the 4K resolution mark is still challenging. “Targeting 4K as a native resolution is extremely demanding, even on this super high-end hardware. Having mechanisms to reconstruct the frame and make it look virtually identical to native 4K, while paying a far lower cost in performance, will be massive.

I am not sure what Japan studio did, but Team ico was poorly manage, produce like one game in 10 years.....same with polygramy with the GT series. But at least GT still sell.

We already have checkerboard 4k like RE Village which looked quite good and temporally reconstructed 4k like Miles and Ratchet which is coming out soon.

Will be interesting to see how FSR compares to them in terms of image quality.

SOCOM 4 killed the entire franchise and it's developer Zipper Interactive. Complete waste of a game.

Obviously, people can like non-critical acclaimed games. But games are mostly acclaimed because many people like them! Having more acclaimed games attract more gamers to the platform these games recited.

The concept of "I don't care if a game is acclaimed" is nice and yes obviously a game you like you wouldn't like less if it reviewed poorly but if everyone listed the games they think are the best ever or are their favorite the vast majority would be games that were critically acclaimed.

Console wars aside video game reviews aren't as off as people would pretend.

Critically acclaimed means more people like them in the general population and it's what developers like to see when making a game. More people playing and liking what they made always feels good.

We aren't talking about that. We are saying people who won't buy game X because it has a meta score under a certain number.

People will pick up on the word of mouth if the people that are playing a game are loving it

People listing off games that most people that played also didn't like is not really a great example of "who cares about reviews"

It'll definitely affect game sales due to poor reviews but usually there's a reason for why it's reviewed poorly.

Doesn't mean some people won't like it though. Different strokes for different folks, just so happens more people don't like the game for one reason or another.

It's not even badly reviewed games. Hell people on here have said a 70-79meta is a no buy.

I'd like to think AMD's FSR is abit more advanced and is going to be much better in image quality, seeing that both consoles are using their hardware.
