They are marketing buzz words when they've been trying to do the same thing 2 or 3 different ways for years and had limited success. If you want some big corporation that made it's money basically being a monopoly and buying out or squashing competition in other areas to take over gaming by buying it out instead of actually convincing people that their way is better you've got problems.
These aren't buzz words. They're buzz dollars. Difference between the front facing Xbox person with no say over budget saying something to try stemming the bleeding on a sinking ship and the boss of Microsoft saying something and putting their money where his mouth is.

"We've heard this before...."

Yeah, you did. When they had five studios and no funding. And it came from people with no say in changing that.

Keep telling yourself they're only investing in AA Game Pass fodder Jinca. If Bethesda didn't change your mind, maybe the next slew of acquisitions will.

I love how you talk like you actually have any inside info at all lol, if you are actually cheering for a monopolistic company who has made all of it's money outside of gaming to just buy the industry because they haven't been able to actually bring more customers over to their product after trying for 3 generations I don't know what to tell you other than you need to stop thinking as an xbox fan and start thinking as a gamer. If xbox becomes the only place to play not because they earned it but because they bought it and made it impossible for other companies to compete with them the industry is doomed.

The last thing you or any of us should want is MS or Sony to buy up any more large devs or even worse publishers. If you cheer on MS buying let's say WB games all you are cheering on is that Sony and Nintendo customers can't play those games, anymore and that's total fanboy nonsense. You already would have had access to those games as an xbox customer so there is no gain for you all it does is hurt the industry as a whole.

The AA stuff came from their head of game studios, he's the one that said they would primarily focus on AA games and he wasn't taken out of context that's what he said so if you have a problem with that take it up with him not me. The Bethesda acquisition came after that btw and I wouldn't be totally shocked if their smaller studios started focusing on smaller games, we already know Bethesda's main studio is as slow as molasses running up hill when it comes to game development so it's not like that studio will go to AA development but their output will still be sparse. I'm not convinced that ES6 will make it out before this generation ends, they've already gone a whole generation without an ES game and they are putting Starfield out first and that's not likely to come until the end of 2022 at the earliest from what "insiders" are saying.

You don't need to be an insider. The information is public to see. Not going to look it up right now. From Nadella interviews before and after restructure to investor calls.

They are a public corporation with one goal, to make money. Same as all others. I am a consumer with one goal, get what's best for me. Sorry if that offends you. No corporation is more or less entitled because of what they did in the past. Corporations aren't people with character, personality or feelings. They rotate people like machines...because they are machines. Trying to promote the virtues of one over the other is silly as hell. Consumerism man. This system rewards all corporations more than us...so I'm taking what's best for me from them guilt free.

Acquisitions are not monopolistic behaviors. They happen in every expanding market. Learn macroeconomics. When markets expand, they fragment then consolidate as they mature. The gaming industry is in a growth phase and this is normal. Also vertical integration is rarely ever considered for anti-competitive behaviors. If they bought Sony, that would be different.

Assuming their strategy is successful, it will make gaming from the types of developers we like more accessible worldwide. For me selfishly, subscription and more places to play make more types of games accessible more often for the same cost. I'm excited about gaming on Xbox for myself. Get over it.

Keep holding out hope that AAA games will barely see the light of day on Xbox this generation if it helps you sleep.

Any form of monopoly is bad. I hope more studios stay independent. Once a monopoly is established,m the devil tail will be exposed. The only thing making corp "humble" and "caring" is competition.

I have JinCa blocked but based on OneBadMutha it’s obvious JinCa is trolling Xbox hard.

Damn, Swede trolls me hard too but I just keep him around for a good laugh now and then. I thought you don't take this stuff so seriously. He must have hit you hard or done something to make you do that 😳

The defense is always its a business like everyone doesn't knows that but its really sad how many people corporate cheerlead and are right now talking with other people about companies they hope Microsoft buys. I just want Amazon or someone to get serious about gaming and buy up some publishers and see if how quick the sentiment changes.

Someone always inevitably says "I just want more game pass games" but Microsoft could make a deal for any game or publisher without buying them. Why aren't we all rooting for that instead? Well we know why.

Nice thread/video that talks about how Insomniac dealt with the new tech and how in some parts of Rift Apart they said the GPU has overhead to 120fps but the CPU was the limiting factor in those scenarios. Also how the improved SSD made them change their engine to keep up with how fast it was able to stream data.

Of course the sentiment would change. Amazon doesn't benefit me. As said, it's about self cheerleading.

1st party not only means the game is on Game Pass, means there's a greater chance the devs will have backing to make future versions on the service. More tech sharing. More resources. Allows more room for ambition and risk taking with IPs. Microsoft's current strategy allows for more creative opportunity than if devs were making games under a traditional business model.

I don't even give a s*** whether a game is exclusive as long as Game Pass continues to thrive and be funded. There's 0 exclusives on Xbox this gen. None. PlayStation gamers will be able to play every Xbox "exclusive" with a PlayStation controller streamed from Series X blades or play on their PC at better resolutions and frame rates than console owners Day 1. The PC is the premium place to play the Xbox ecosystem (if you don't mind the cheaters which I do). Console second. Streaming third.

It's about me. Not about you. Don't be so vain.

Its about Xbox/Microsoft I just wish you would own it. I have seen you back them in the exact same way all gen long even when their first party was nonexistent and game pass didn't exist.

Why wouldn't Amazon benefit you? Who is to say they wouldn't be the best thing to happen to gaming? Or maybe the competition will be good for us all no matter where you game? Because its not your team. You can't pretend to be above it when you talk about them like you are on the payroll.

People putting serious money into the hobby I love is a win for me.

To be fair I kind of hoped MS had brought crytek, they always seem to be in financial trouble and ryse and crysis showed promise.

I talk about them like it's my primary platform. Been that way when they were a bug on the PS2's windshield. Sales don't mean a f***ing thing to me. Quit projecting.

Still coming to the Playstation 5.

You just can't see it...

..it's there....in the small print behind the $7billion acquisition price.

..if you look hard enough you'll see it.

/sarcasm.

It's a timed exclusive, and it'll be playable on PS5 six months after MS purchases Sony (or whatever day Sony brings gamepass to the PS5, whichever comes first). My inside made up sources tell me to look for it in 2023, probably the month of Notever.

On a serious note, I am fancying the thought of getting gamepass. The one thing that stopped me from swiping my card is how much of the games will be on PC as well.

We know games like outriders are NOT available on PC gamepass. I play mainly on PC (My PC is more powerful than next gen console) & I am primary KB+Mouse player, & I do not want to pay for a serice to be short change on my platform of choice.

Edit: I looked at the offering. Looks really good.
