Official Thread The Division v. 2

What builds are folk working on?

I'm currently working on my 'Elite Killer' build. Is AR based with +80% damage to elites. Seems to be melting dem goldies.

I was doing a skill build but all the good skill modes seemingly need unatainable amounts of power, not sure if it's a bug or we just need WT5, but I have shelved this build for now.

Does it have decent range? I like the regular turret putting down some cover fire when I go against a big group. Haven’t tried the flame type.

It is situational. If there's a good choke point it can be really good. It is just plain fun though. Good for protecting flank routes.

You melted that gold boss in like 3 seconds tonight. That build is solid.

The general consensus from what I've read is that skill power levels are seriously screwed, and there's a lot of talk on the reddit that skills in general are pretty much pointless. I really haven't varied from the revive hive/healing chem launcher so I can't really speak much on that. I just hit WT1 this afternoon and the first two invaded missions were awesome fun. The AI on the Black Tusk guys is really a step up - and I know had I been facing that level of opposition when i was level 1, I may well have never made it through the game. :)

As to the build, I'm not to the point of having a *ton* of options yet. I've been using as much +damage to elites as I can roll, but I've been really happy also with Patience (after 3s in cover, repair 5% armor per second). When I was doing Roosevelt Island, I picked that talent up pretty early and it really made things a lot easier - especially when I also had the Preservation talent as well (killing an emeny repairs 5% armor over 3 seconds, more for headshot). The downside was that I didn't have any decent rifles for a while, so I actually went with an AR primary / LMG secondary for the first WT1 mission and it was definitely harder to pull off consistent headshot damage.

The bonus damage to elites has been a freaking godsend at times. Those MFs with the sledgehammers in particular, I can only successfully dodge so many times so being able to drop them a lot faster is outstanding. The one thing i want to try is the First Blood talent (from full mag, first shot into any part of the body does headshot damage), but it looks like you have to have an 8x or higher scope equipped so that may end up being something for fun.

It does have decent range. I love throwing it into the middle of rooom, If you use it, try getting the +25% damage to burning enemies talent on your main gun.

It is weird, it doesn't seem like they nerfed my character at all, so I have a WT4 build againt level 28s. I never used a single heal skill or armour kit in the 2 ish hours we played last nigght.

I would certainly agree about skill mods being a bit screwed. Hopefully we get a patch this week.

Love them hammer dudes, especialy when you get 2 at once, everything just decends into chaos.

Yeah. But I’d rather they “nerf” it that way when compared to what it used to be like.

Those guys are brutal, even on the lower levels.

I decided to try that firefly tech thingy. Unfortunately I'm pretty disappointed with it. I really want to have another good offensive tool, so imma have to get the mine next time. :(

The first one really caught me by surprise. I was trying to take care of the other mobs and not too worried about him b/c he was big and on the other side of the room. Suddenly, I see the "stem bleeding / give up" animation and then the hive tries to do its thing but he smashed that, too. That's when I found out they can run.

It's refreshing to hear talk about how a games AI surprised you. It feel like ages since we had a game with noteworthy AI. It just makes a game more interesting and engaging...

Yep, the AI is one of the many reasons I'm happy to throw praise on the game. AI gets overlooked and downright neglected in many games now. I probably wouldn't have bought this game if the AI was the same old stand around and let them shoot you.

Too many games today go the "just go online and do PVP" route and ignore good AI. With Div 2 before I start a fight I'm scouting around and looking for enemy flank routes as well as my "tactical withdrawal" route. It really makes the "grinding" fun (along with a lot of other factors).

Yeah. The Black Tusk's AI once you hit the world tiers is really challenging, but it also feels like the leveling time was helping train for that. I'm looking forward to going through the first stronghold against them once I get a little time (prolly tomorrow evening).

Friends.......its not only the AI that's impressive. Its also the animations as enemies take fire they will stumble, trip or slide up to cover.

Just did my first control point on my own, shot up the flare, AI arrived and took it over. That was fun.

Completed the campaign solo and started World Tier 1 lastnight. The Black Tusk are no joke that's for sure.
It's nice that you can switch between the 3 specials by returning to the white house so you don't feel like you're missing out on something but the crossbow is so bad ass I don't want to ever put it down. Bolts explode after a short delay.

Sometimes you can just sit back and watch the AI fight it out lol.
Well, I didn't know that. BUT I would have to be honest here and say, AI did most of the work. I ran out of health packs and hid like a little bitch (no offense Belly) in the corner.
